I’m a female journalist student and I’ve read so many news articles and a book about Obama but no political analysis today. If he weren’t around my mum’s age I would have probably completely fallen in love with him!!! Or am I already???
I really feel connected to him as an african girl with German background who lives in North America, has a strong white european education, this light caramel skin color and yet that black identity that I’ve fought all my life to define (I’m still trying to figure the black identity!) but I’m so proud of my race thanks to people like him!!

It doesnt matter what you think about Michelle’s physical appearance because they have obviously been happy for about 19 years. It’s sad that in the same breath of you trying to elevate and celebrate black beauty and culture you had to disrespect the internal and external beauty that Michelle Obama embodies. It is people like you that keep our culture down and fighting with one another on the shallow and ignorant basis of color and shade. As beautiful as Halle Berry is, that is not the only kind of beauty out there that should be celebrated (Angela Bassett, Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Sannaa Lathan, etc). @ #1, very interesting. This would be horrible for the McCain camp. I hope its not true, but I do understand why Palin would do such a thing, to protect her child. Alot of parents, back in the day, did the same thing. All of a sudden, the child would be sent up north or down south to relatives, to have the baby to escape scrutiny and gossip in their hometown. And yes, its still a lie. But the point remains that they chose to let her have the baby instead of an abortion that would have sacrificed the baby’s life in exchange for saving face/reputation. They could have disowned their daughter and sent her off, like many parents have done, but didn’t. That speaks more volumes than the deception. Still hope its not true. McCain did not do his homework if it is. I felt he would be better equipped to compete aginst Obama if he had chosen a Black republican female, someone like Condoleezza Rice, but without the Bush connection, to attempt to regain the undecided female vote and to win back the black republican votes that shifted to Obama. Very interesting to see all this unfold.
