Songbird Jazmine Sullivan is gearing up to release her debut album, Fearless on September 23rd. Her first single, the Missy Elliott-assisted “Need U Bad” is blowing up charts, radio and getting lots of video airplay. We’ve been talking about Jazmine for a while now, so I am so excited about the final project. She really has some great material and I am so pleased that the world is finally getting a chance to hear her beautiful voice.

Clearly the first pic is a saturated pic – its not meant to lighten her up all the colors have been changed…its just a photoshop technique, not an enhancement…she looks fierce as hell in the second pic

now for the other pics, i would like the one of her sitting down if she had a better expression on her face, apparently they were going for the blank stare but everybody aint able to pull that off without lookin crazy, the others…….

I’m sorry to play devil’s advocate but they absolutely meant to lighten her up…the original promo shot had the same effect and I remember commenting on it after I’d seen her video. She is a gorgeous girl but they do tons of editing to her promo pics. And in the video I thought all the cutting away from her body was lame…she’s a nice size.

why is her album cover skin tone so light
This album cover is disappointing. I wish it could reflect more of her natural beauty, but I guess they’re saying America still isn’t ready for brown skinned women. Such a slap in the face. I don’t even think African Americans are ready for this…we have been made to believe the lighter the complexion, the prettier the person….SUCH BS!
When will Jasmine start promotional tour. Everyone that I know want to see her live. She needs to tour NYC IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
I really love the sound of her voice. Reminds me of Lauryn Hill. I haven’t heard a song I liked from jump street in so long, but I NEED U BAD was a automatic favorite for me. I hope her cd is just as hot.
The image is beautiful, but some pigmentation for that album cover is needed…STAT!!!
@Shawn….My sister is brown skinned and I am light skinned, I always thought her skin was so amazing, sad to think we are still suck on this color nonsense in 2008. Hopefully, we will get over this color bullsh^t soon enough. I just don’t understand why some do not appriciate their own black exquisiteness, whatever shade of brown. Love thy self the way you were created. Her voice is the best “new” I heard in a while, lovely.

In my opinion, they should’ve done the cover in a sultry black/white, not this cartoonish feature. I’d expect this from Karina or Tiffany. But nevertheless, I am so happy that she can actually SING!!!! Yay!!!! LOL
