Personally, i’ve never met a baby that I didn’t think was adorable. But I just love babies (have a household of my own). Halle looks beautiful, and all 3 of them look like they are loved, and enjoying life. I know Halle’s mom is going to spoil that baby rotten. Grandmothers know they know how to let those little one’s get away with stuff you never could (speaking from personal experience).

Hate to give a quick biology 101 to some of y’all but here’s how it goes:

Halle’s baby would naturally have light eyes not simply because of her genetic makeup but also because of the pigmentation of her skin.

For all of you light-skinned (I mean trully light-skinned as in, those with mixed heritage) the amount of melanin that you have in your skin is less than the average African/African American/black person; therefore, if you have light skin you are more susceptible of having lighter eyes since you have less melanin.

Thats why a really dark sistah would be wearring colored contacts if her eyes happened to be green,blue or grey….that or she may have baked her skin to shits under the sun!!

I think they were expressing their opinions on how the baby is darker than they thought she would be and may get darker, and that is only mentioned because the baby is of mixed race. It is what you feel, I used to be so self concious when I was young because I was the light long hair girl. That stuff used to bother me because I didn’;t know why I was getting picked on.

When I am around white people I am not light or dark I am black and that is how they treat me. They will call me nigger with the quickness and they are not thinking about whether I am light with so called good hari or dark with so called bad hair.

i am actually a white woman with a bi-racial child and i have just noticed how black people gush over his light eyes like they’re so desirable. Nobody mentions that a brown eyed baby has beautiful color eyes. And i just think it’s something to think about. Why do people find blue/ green/ grey eyes so attractive. The baby is gorgoeus! Just like I knew she would be:-) She doesn’t really look much like Halle or Halle’s boyfriend yet, but you can already tell that she has great genes. That little girl does not knwo what great fortune and geneology she was born into!

In regards to how children are born with light eyes. It does have something to do with melanin in the skin, but some brown and dark skin people do have light eyes that are real (ex. Stacey Dash, KD Aubert). Its more about lack of pigmentation in the eyes than melanin in the skin. If someone’s ancestor or parent had light eyes, its possible that the trait can be passed onto future generations.

After reading some of these comments I have realized that baby Nahla has not only inherited her mother pretty genes…she has inherited her HATERS as well. Baby Nahla should wear a T-Shirt that says “Hi Hater”!!

To me, the baby looks like a BABY!! People don’t have to fall over themselves, but to flat out say the baby isn’t cute, is hating period! It has nothing to do with opinion. This is probably why Halle didn’t show her baby pictures to some of you low lives, just for you to sit around disecting her child. But if you seen the woman out in the street, you wouldn’t have a damn thing to say. To people up in here with “the color complex”…get a life. Its your insecurities that keeps driving this “light skinned vs darkskinned” issue. Just because you are dark skinned doesn’t mean its okay to talk down on light skinned people and vise versa…and just because people think her baby is cute doesn’t mean they have the “slave mantality”….especially when some of you are up in here sounding like a bunch of COONS. I don’t see anything overly amazing about the baby’s eyes and skin, but I will say it is a beautiful baby. The baby looks healthy and loved, and that makes it beautiful. It is wonderful that Halle’s dreams of motherhood, and love have come true.

@#74 I don’t think your theory is 100% correct. I have a friend that is brown skinned with natural gray eyes. And noone in her immediate family (mother, brothers, sister, father) have lighter eyes or are lighter in complexion.

i love the additional pic shared by #126. one thing about having children and all the parents out there will know this to be true, babies look one way when they are born and then they have many different looks as they age. often times they start out looking like mom, end up looking like dad or become a blend of the parents. i am just happy halle finally gets a chance to be a mother and i’m sure she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about nahla’s looks.
