Check out this new song from Tweet. I absolutely love, love, love Tweet. Ever since her debut album, Southern Hummingbird, I have been hooked. Her third album, Love, Tweet is supposed to be coming out this year, and I absolutely loved her first single, “Anymore.” A lot of snippets leaked from the album, but “Hey Baby” is definitely different from everything from the new material that we’ve gotten a hold of. I’m hoping to hear more from her soon.

We recently reported the Bobby Valentino has inked a new deal after his recent split with Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam. Here’s new material from him, featuring fellow Atlanta native Yung Joc. Although Bobby’s last album, Special Occasion had a couple of jems on it, I don’t know if I’m loving this new song from him. No word on whether or not this is the first single, we’ll see. More updates on Bobby as information comes out.

It’s good to see that Johnta Austin is still trying. The Stargate-produced “I Need A Girl” is a good song with good potential, but then again, so have Johnta’s other efforts for singles. His album, Ocean Drive was supposed to drop many moons ago, but I’m sure he’s not tripping, because he’s been collecting those residual writing checks from songs that he’s penned for so many R&B acts out these days. Hopefully, his album will drop sometime.

Seems as though Cassie really is branching out with producers this time around. Looks like she’s enlisted The Dream on her project, which was recently pushed back to release in early ’09. No production helps to prove upon Cassie’s voice, but she always delivers you the best productions. But with all the material that’s leaking from the album, will she have anything new for us to hear when the album drops? It’s no “Umbrella,” but whatever.

OMG!!!! Now Tweet is sensational!!!! Do ya’ll hear this mellow old school vibe? I hear Dianna Ross, Al Green, and Marvin Gaye inspirations in this one. It can almost be rewound to be in a soundtrack to like Crooklyn, Lady Sings the Blues, Inkwell, Mahogany etc….all the old school movie genres. The instrumentals and her voice are absolutely amazing! This song sells the whole album for me! Dayum!

I guess I was a little bored. I went back and listened…Bobby V and Joc was “aight”. The beat was the best thing…it was kind of thumping. He wasn’t talking bout nothing doe! Beep beep beep…jeep jeep jeep. To old for nursery rhymes nye! And you see how everybody trying to do the TPain/Akon/Dream robotic voice all the time now. That only works for them…and it’s starting to play out for them too.
And I accidentally caught myself bumping to Cassie’s beat. Certainly not for her vpoice, but because of the Dream production. Certainly would not buy this crap. Then again, I am probably not giving her a fair chance because I cut that mess of after about 11.675 seconds. LOL!

Bobby V – Has not learned anything from his departure from DTP obviously, every song has their place, but this shows why he is still “underrated” as he and his fans put it. In this day and age BobbyV, you need to come harder and grow, because this “sound”,”temp”,and”line-up” has been clogging the airwaves for the last 4 years. You don’t have to go left, but go “better”…
Jonta – Its not your fault Jonta, or maybe it is (being that you picked it), the acoustic stumming is nice (sounds good), but damn a fake Guchin in the begining and the chorus, and the neyo’ish pre-chorus. And I am getting tired of Stargate’s overused drum kit and pattern. Will it work? – maybe. Jonta personally doesn’t seem to sing his own music that well – compared to those he writes for, it just isn’t convincing when he sings it (think “Turn the Music Up”).
Cassie/Dream – No. Cassie, she doesn’t need to belt out songs at the top of her lungs, but her vocals always sound extremely “weak” & “thin” like she’s still struggling after all the reported training. Maybe the 500.00 she spends on her outfits could be better used on vocal training, she could sound great, but there are obviously breathing techniques she is missing (you can hear it in the amount of overdubs there are), and head vs. throat vs. diaphram control (no perv LOL). But, the chord progression, synth arpeggio, tempo of this song is – 2006/2007, 2008 is about to close so… step up. “Boo” is an old word, should not be used in such a corney fashion – and if Dream wrote this, I’m disappointed.
