♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

♫ Joe feat. Marion - Last Sip (full) - listen
I got a lot of e-mails about this song. I was a little nervous at first because I get scared when I hear a whole bunch of dudes singing on a song. I’m a fan of Joe’s last material, and his voice, and I must admit that Mario had some solid songs on his last album, Go!, although it was all over the place. So I was interested to see what this sounded like, and I was pleased. “Last Sip” is produced by none other than Bryan-Michael Cox. Seems like Joe is also trying to jog some publicity about the new album, because he recently has gone to media and accused R. Kelly of messing with his radio play…

♫ Kanye West & T-Pain - Go Hard (full) - listen
Check out this collab between Kanye and T-Pain on DJ Khaled’s upcoming album, We Global. I’m really digging the collaboration, but I just can’t stand hearing DJ Khaled yelling on everything. This will really pop on radio and in the club. Anything that T-Pain and Kanye touch these days is gold. Not too much to say, I can just see people eating this song right on up, no matter how much it sounds like something they’ve already done before!

♫ Lloyd - If I Knew (full) - listen
Here’s some unreleased bonus material from Lloyd’s Lessons In Love sessions. I’m wondering how much music he had left over from this project, considering there were a couple of songs to leak that didn’t make the album. “If I Knew” could have been a cool song, but I can see why it was left off the album. It sounds a little empty at times; it’s definitely missing something. I do, however, like when Lloyd raps on songs. It’s funny to me. But this definitely doesn’t really fit into the midtempo maturity of the singer’s third album.

♫ Slim Thug feat. Devin the Dude - Bitch, I’m Back (full) - listen
I don’t know about you, but I am ready for Slim Thug to come back with a new album. Personally, I was a huge fan of his first studio album, Already Platinum, as well as the 2007 mixtape, Boss Basics. Also, who doesn’t love Devin the Dude? Slim Thug proclaims he doesn’t need to rap on this song, so maybe that’s why we’ve heard so little from him. But hopefully with a song title like this, it means that Slim is on his way to release some new material.

I’m feelin’ “Last Sip” by Joe. He is, simply a classic R&B artist! These young/up-coming artist need to take notes on how to bring that consistency from Mr. Thomas.

T Pain and Kanye : This song introduces nothing unique to the game. I dont see it being very successfull.

Lloyd: The album is crazy. However, I agree with CL that the song lacks the neccessary elements to make it a hit. I also see why it was left off the album. Elementary production.

Slim Thug and DDD. Fire. Slum Thus is the truth.

I love Slim Thug. I been a fan of his since his Swisha House mixtapes. I wasn’t feelin’ that “Already Platium” album, but I’m really feelin’ this track. I am use to his raw style, so I just could n’t get into “Already Platium” album. If you are a old Slim Thug fan you can tell that album just wasn’t him. I been saying that since he drop that cd that Interscope made him change his style. Like he said in the song stay true to yourself. I STILL GOT LOVE 4 SLIM & I WISH YOU MUCH SUCCESS!!! TEXAS STAND UP!!!

3. Lloyd - Its whatever too.

Ok, that Joe and Mario track is DA BIZ! Sorry Angela, but usually I skip over the music posts, but because I’m seeing someone ♥, I wanna hear nice slow jams on my ipod in the morning so I can think of him. And that song makes me wanna O, O, ooooohhh! LOL I hope I can find it somewhere to download. When the album comes out I’m definitely coppin it! Always been a fan of Joe, even tho he gets no love. And Mario is really coming into his grown an sexy!

The song from Joe is a decent track musically, but the lyrics are horrible. I mean I understand that he was trying to make one of those “meet in the club get you drunk f*** on the first night” songs but Joe is not believable. For instances: “Let me see what’s under your skirt” and “girl, we need to roll” come across as weak. I really enjoyed his delivery voacally though. And I’m guessing that “Marion” is actually Mario, a typo. Mario is unneccesary on the track and his voice sounds nasal…extremely nasal when he is reaching for the higher notes. In spite of the lyrics and Mario, I think this is a winner

“Go Hard” is like “I’m So Hood Pt 2″. The beat is a little more reminiscent of the techno infusion on R&B at the moment. Kanye’s verses are classic Kanye; tongue-in-cheek, arrogant and double entendred. T-Pain’s hook is a little on the weak side, but I am sure the mass public will be hooked instanly. DJ Khaled…we can hope he shuts on future tracks, but he probably won’t.

At this point, I wonder why we are still having to suffer through more mediocre leaked material from Lloyd. His album, “Lessons In Love” already tanked and the response by fans and critics has been lukewarm at best. Almost all of the songs leaked here were left off of the album. This track is horrendous. It sounds like a leftover from New Edition’s debut LP (1983). I tried to endure, but the production lacked depth and Lloyd’s voice and look are very hard to swallow. When I listen to him singing about love and sex, I feel like a pedophile

If Slim Thug plans a comeback…he better come way harder than this. We know that his flow is a more mellow and relaxed, but this track sounds like an Akon acoustic demo, with no dynamics or climax. Devin the Dude on the hookl continued the overall “bored” mood on the track. We hope to see something a bit more exciting.

Two of my ABSOLUTE favorite artists on one track??? I’ve died and gone to heaven. I love Joe and Mario - even when the lyrics are raunchy, they make them sound good.

What a coincidence? Joe and Mario happen to be two of my favorite male R&B vocalists, both of which are highly underrated. At work so I can’t listen to the song like I want to. I’ll wait untill I get home to get in.

@ 31 I like your review, however I Have to disagree with you on Lloyd. His album is pretty good and I like this bonus track. It might not have depth to it, but it is catchy.
