When Solange said no, they scrapped it, but she didn’t know they didn’t broadcast it. I’m with her (although she could’ve been a little more nice about it since image is everything in the business she’s in). She doesn’t own, operate, or have any other affiliation to Jay’s club, so why ask her just because he’s married to her sister? That isn’t for her to tell and you didn’t ask her there for that so it WAS unprofessional on the reporter’s part. First rule of journalism: stick to the topic and she didn’t do that so she got what she deserved (to be put on blast).

@ 99. Sticking to the topic is not the first rule of journalism. A reporter is there to ask questions. To get to what people want to know. People don’t care about Solange or her mediocre music. They just care who she’s affiliated with i.e. Beyonce & Jay-Z. She wouldn’t be anywhere without her sister. So of course the reporter is going to see if she can ask about that stuff. She wouldn’t be a professional if she didn’t try to see what she could find out. The only one that deserved to be put on blast is Solange, which is what happened. She looks really stupid now. And SHE WAS the one that was completely unprofessional. How can you open an interview with an attitude like that and act completely lackluster. Saying don’t ask me about my family, but then bring her family up. She’s like my mother’s music was the inspiration for this album & my family helps out with my son. WTF? You just said don’t talk about my family, yet you talking about them. She looks foolish. And she has lost points with me. I was beginning to think she was different, perhaps genuine. But now I see she’s just playing the public like her famous sister.

On a side note, I’ve always felt like CL kisses celebrity butt, instead of covering celebrities objectively. I think the title of this post is evidence of that b/c its Solange “gets real” with TV host which comes off more positive than what really went down. Oh well. The attitude wasn’t about being asked about Beyonce because she knows people will ask. It was about being asked about Jay. What people don’t know is that the woman asked her about Jay and him selling the Vegas 40/40 club and if she could give her any info about it (since the broadcast was also in Vegas). When Solange said no, they scrapped it, but she didn’t know they didn’t broadcast it. I’m with her (although she could’ve been a little more nice about it since image is everything in the business she’s in). She doesn’t own, operate, or have any other affiliation to Jay’s club, so why ask her just because he’s married to her sister? That isn’t for her to tell and you didn’t ask her there for that so it WAS unprofessional on the reporter’s part. First rule of journalism: stick to the topic and she didn’t do that so she got what she deserved (to be put on blast).]

Yup that was uncalled for. I really think papa knowles is really behind this attitude of solange just to make more money. And also that thing with solange being such a sweet and classy lady when that man got on stage passed her so called security. I believe that was a total stunt. It went to well with the show. Either it was a stunt or she need some new security. I mean the man got up there and security didn’t even move. Also if this is the way solange has always been why we just seeing it now. Funny you should ask if I’ve taken journalism/public speaking courses since my B.A. is in journalism and communications & I currently work for a publication. Staying on topic is NOT the first rule of journalism. I don’t think there is a a first rule of journalism. If there were to be, I think it would be about accuracy. Staying on topic might be something that plays more into giving a speech….but thats another subject.

Whether she likes it or not, Solange is connected to Beyonce and Jay Z making it fair game to ask about them in an interview. Solange can choose not to talk about them, but she needs to find a more professional way to do so.

Its obvious this chick wants to have her cake and eat it to, but you can’t have it both ways!
