Our friends over at Hip Hollywood hit up Megan Good’s birthday party on Saturday night and spoke to various celebs about the untimely passing of Bernie Mac. Also keep reading to view what his good friend Niecy Nash had to say.
Bernie Mac passed on Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005.
RIP Bernie!
This is why we need to spend time with family and friends. We should not have to come together for funerals only. RIP Bernie!!!!

i stll cannot believe this….thats why i cant stand doctors, they dont kno what they be doin and his family should sue that hospital for all they got, cuz no mount of apologizes is gonna fix there mistakes and bring him back, i just cant believe they said he was recovering and was going to be released soon, i think thats why everybody was so shocked cuz we just thought he had a little somethin and was gonna get better and keep doin his thang…when people like him, and aaliyah and gerald levert die (and whoever else u may like), it really hurts us fans becuz we really feel like we know them…
Hopefully with his passing people become more informed about their health. Pneumonia is very serious!! I have had pneumonia and it took them several months to pinpoint what was wrong with me!! It started as a cold in the winter months and progressed into a cough that wouldn’t go away until the beginning of spring!! Please take care of ourselves!! Because there is only one of YOU!!!

Bernie Mac’s wife and daughter were with the late comedian in his last moments and were able to bid him a touching goodbye, his sister-in-law tells People magazine.
Mary Ann Grossett, the sister of Mac’s wife Rhonda, spoke to the magazine about the final moments before the 50-year-old entertainer died.
“He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda. She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired.”
“What she (Rhonda) will treasure the most is the fact that she was his wife for 30 years – and not only was she his wife, but she was his best friend. She’s going to miss him dearly,” Grossett told People.

My mother also passed away in 2004 due to complications with Sarcoidosis. Initially the condition was in her lungs, but gradually it moved to her heart. Prolonged stress on the heart lead her to have Congestive Heart Failure.
When I discovered in 2005 that Bernie Mac also had the condition, I was shocked. Sarcoidosis is more common in people of African descent, than any other people. It is often misdiagnosed as various types of Cancer. I’ve had 2 people in my family alone to have the condition. And ive met about an additional 3 people.
I strongly believe that people need to become more aware of this disease.

I know Mac wouldn’t of wanted to go any other way. I am glad he wasn’t alone and had a special moment with his loved ones. He will ALWAYS be with them.
Bernie was a talented and smart man. His whole swagger and style was like no other. He educated in the funniest way- talking about the things no one would DARE talk about or was afraid to and by the time he was done he had you cracking up and either thinking about what he said or agreeing to it. There will be more comediens but none that can do it like the Mac can. This is truly a loss.

I am still in shock that he is gone. This was one of the funniest Black men period. I loved him in “Life” he was so funny as Jang-a-lang “I’m da pappy”. RIP Bernie.
He was a talented comedian, but more importantly a beautiful man — a good father, a good husband, a good person in general.
Death is part of the cycle of life… what’s important is to love and live every moment fully. There is no doubt his family will grieve, but they also have the memories and the love that he shared with him while he was here.
Fifty years old and thirty years married is pretty much unheard of these days, it’s shows his committment to family. In his book he talks about the ups and the downs, but family was the most important thing to him, so he fought hard to keep his together…. and they were always together, even until the end.
My prayers and sympathy is with his family during this time and as I pray for my own family to get through our exact storm, I pray for his family as well. Death is just one of those doors we have to go through in life, some make it through sooner than we’d like, but God is not human and he is no respecter of man.

Yup…Wikipedia has him passing away today. The weird thing is that Issac just completed the soundtrack to Bernic Mac and Samuel Jackson’s new movie, Soul Men.

@ #2 you are so right we have to cherish every moment with a loved one cause you never know when it is going to be their last moment here on earth my dad passed away from the same disease Sarcoidosis 4 yrs ago and tell you it hard to watch someone you love fade away due to such an ugly disease.

It is a shame, but damn, this was a celebration for Megan and why would you bring everyone down by bringing up someone’s death? This was her birthday party, celebrating another year in her life, they didn’t think it was ironic to bring up someone who died that day???? I’m not a fan of Megan, trying to defend her, but I think that is so odd.

I cannot even express my heartache. There are so many things to be said right now, and usually I don’t– or I try not to become to attached to entertainers and stars, because I do not personally know them, but there was something about Bernie Mac. From watching his shows, his movies, his interviews, he became someone I would’ve loved to meet…I just really can’t believe he’s gone, I keep wanting and waiting for someone to pop and prove that this was yet another horrific rumor, but I know it’s not going to happen. I’m going to really miss Bernie, just last June I’d said to my sister, “Bernie Mac should host the BET Awards”, something about his comedic style led me to believe he could have done wonders for that show, and now he’s gone. It’s strange in a way but I feel like I’ve lost a member of the family. My prayers are with his family, and I know he’s gone onto a better place, May GOD rest his soul.
