Even if your not feeling Solange you have to give her props. She did what Kelly and Michelle weren’t able to do, break out from her sisters shadow. Most female artist get compared to Bey, unless its like Alicia Keys someone who has created her own niche, they fall short, but there is no need to compare Sol and Bey’s music. They are distinctly different.

I’m lovin the sixties style to the music, the video, her clothes. She’s doing the damn thing!

Solange was always cool with me, I ain’t go out and get the first CD even though I liked that “there is this guy…” song, but I for sure will be getting this one and if the first one is on sale I might grab that too.
But the fashion in this video is amazing, of course very much Ms. Ross but if you gotta be inspired by someone Diana isn’t a bad choice.
And yeah her voice is definitely acquired taste, but she doesn’t come off as forced and made/ groomed for celebrity as her sister, which I hope is not a gimmick cause it works. and if she keeps it up she’ll find herself in the ranks of my fashion faves coming in third to Kelis and Rihanna, go Sol-Angel.

Loving the new video from SOLANGE so different from anything right now. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves cause she is a real talent. She has totally separated herself from what her sister does. Just for that I will be by her album on AUGUST 26!!!!!

I think this video will actually spell some success for Solange by the very fact that she came out with it. On her last album she didn’t get to release a second video-
but only one. And I know Geffen is behind her helping her release it the way she wants to. She said she directed the video all by herself and I enjoyed it. Even though she’s doing something a little different from the industry right now- she still makes her music enjoyable and her videos fun to watch. Go Sol-angel!

You know im ALL down for the singers like Whitney and Aretha..but Really people Not EVERYONE is going to be a power house..Im getting a little tired of seeing those type of comments like: What happen to real singers..I really dont get it. True their are some people in the industry who can not sing and are soley famous because of image, but there are some people who may not be able to hit a note like mariah or whitney, but have talent. For example Diana Ross?..Da Boss! I mean have you ever heard her belting out songs? No, but she is still a legend and Icon! Im in no way saying embrace complete mediocrcy, but give something new a chance.

I really want to like Solange,,Its something that hasnt quite grabbed my attention, yet. She is a very talented girl, though. Im just not a fan….

Because Solange must struggle with being in her sister’s shadow the absolute worst thing she could ever ever do is come off as low browed. And she’s succeeded at doing just that with this video. She’s almost acting out all the lyrics, which is fine if you’re singing about your booty but not at all cool if you’re trying to be highly artistic. Also, she just looked really realy lame and amateur through the whole thing…the make-up and weave looked like she did it herself ten minutes before each shot. This looked like a bootleg version of her first video.

And I hope those “exclusive promo shots” aren’t the ones floating around the blogs this morning…

I like the fact that Solange is trying to bring something different to the table. I am a very versatile person & I’m pretty much open to anything new. Not saying that her genre of music hasn’t been done before but I don’t always crawl to the same types of music. I actually like this song and while the video isn’t a big difference from the first it’s still cute.

Of course not everyone is going to like her as an artist or her music but so what that’s life. EVERYBODY aint gon’ like you.

I’ll be picking up her CD when it arrives next week. Solange you have a new fan.

It’s the same old ploy, the sister is a huge superstar whose more mainstream and the lil’ sister is anti-mainstream? Where have I seen this before…Jessica Simpson & Ashlee Simpson…Jessica was America’s Sweetheart, just like Beyonce’, while Ashlee was the punk-rocker, who was anti-sex appeal and all about “the art,” like Solange is attempting to be. I’m sorry, I’m not feeling it. I find it hard to believe that Solange is some champagne sippin’, weed-smokin’, “I do what I want, how I want ‘cuz I’m me” artist, not with her manager being her father! My only critique: She puts so much effort into being creatively distcinct from her sister, HOWEVER, the hair and choreography reeks of BEYONCE…I think if she just goes with a differnt hairstyle (no mopre long curly weave..does nothing for her hard jaw line), choreography, lose the eyelashes then the distinction will inally be complete.
