Ok, so…I’m on my Blackberry right now, so I can’t listen to the songs. However, I can answer this one without having to hear the music! Of course my aunt Mary must have this one hands down! Ciara is no match. She should stick to dancing, although I love “Oh” and she seems pretty cool.

A “True” vocalist would be able to sing any song & kill it. A ‘real’ vocalist is versatile. Mary is NOT a vocalist. If Mary is such a vocalist like some of you delusionals claim she shouldn’t have to struggle hitting those notes that ciara effortlessly hit.

I love both ladies. They’re both talented in their own right.
However, the Mary J version doesn’t sound like it has been mastered by the engineer yet. Sounds kinda raw. Ciara’s version sounds done and ready to put on the radio.

I like both versions of this song. They both sound fine. I like the mellow and laid back vibe that Ciara gave it…and I like the back in da day vibe that Mary gave it! I will be getting Ciara’s “Fantasy Ride” album when it releases.

It’s not a matter of who did better, sometimes it is just a matter of who a song works better for.

I like this song, however Ciara sounds almost too perfect singing this song. There has been a lot of work done to make her sound like this. She is a good entertainer, but not a singer IMO. I don’t think Mary’s voice is too heavy over this track at all, I’m going to have to go with MJBs version better minus Ne-yo singing background. If they were to perfom it live MJB would kill Ciara.

Ciara!! Her voice fit the song better and had the mellow feel to it. So I go with her. Yes Mary is the vet but she didn’t bring to the song what Ciara did. She was way to strong singing the song. Yes Mary can sing, however she’s not versatile with her voice. She should have changed her voice up better for this song. That’s why I would give this to Ciara hands down.

The song is a decent slow song. I could not see this on a Mary album. I was surprised to hear Mary start a song in such a high vocal registe, however. I also thought Ne-Yo background vocals were a little out of place. That said, Ciara’s hushed seductive voice is all the more smooth and appropriate for “Supernatural”. The overall feel and tone of the song is very light and that is more Ciara’s avenue.

I haven’t heard either one but i like mary’s voice a lot more.

Ciara sang the song better, triggered emotions the first time I heard it. Cici won this one, however Mary J Blige put her spin on the song. Love Mary J. Blige music as well.

Will Ciara ever get a break? When she first came out people were all over her and loving her #1 response record, “Goodies,” to Petey Pablo’s “Freek A Leek.” Most wrote her off as a one hit wonder. She followed up w/ 2 more hits (#2 on Billboard) “1,2 Step” and “Oh”. From there, she couldn’t sing and, “She’s a good performer but she’s biting off of Aaliyah,” started to swirl around. After proving critics wrong and having a very successful run with her debut album, She had to deal w/ being a tranny and that she couldn’t sing slower songs. The tranny rumors or absurd, I’ve seen her in person, she is all woman. She then came out w/ “Promise,” which went straight to #1 on the R&B charts (so much for not being able to rock a slower song). Everyone was loving her, but once again, she was biting off Aaliyah…

I can go on and on. Let the girl do her thing, she’s not running around her saying she is Whitney Houston or Patti Labelle, I mean damn. She is Ciara and just b/c she doesn’t have the strongest or best voice, doesn’t mean she can’t sing. It’s funny how out of all the artist out there, she is the most hated on. I guess you either love her or hate her, no middle ground. But say what you want, but you can say she is talent less.

By the way, I was and still am the biggest Aaliyah fan, but I do remember when she first came out, people dogged her live performances, said she was a studio singer, and gave no slack on the R. Kelly situation. She stepped her game up, her voice matured, became a tighter performer, and now she has went down in history as an icon.

And about the song, Mary is the Queen and her version obviously hasn’t been mastered, However, I do think Ciara’s delivery is better for the song overall. One.
