Ciara’s underrated. You all dismiss her as a no talent since she doesn’t have a massive range or a powerful, soulful voice. She can sing both in the studio and live. The thing is that she’s usually dancing so that takes away from the vocals. When she isn’t she sounds just fine. When I listen to her albums, I don’t see dancing; I hear singing. I came with a non-bias response. Many just dismissed listening to it because MJB is the “better” vocalist. MJB is overrated IMO. She’s not that great. She pushes her voice to limits that it cannot sustain or wasn’t meant to. If she sang regularly in a comfortable range with a decent tone then I could get down with that. Her tone is so annoying. It isn’t soul that I’m talking about, it’s just a terrible tone.

I must concede that Ciara did a good job vocally on this song as I’m usually not impressed AT ALL with her vocals. But her version doesn’t have that throw your hands up and make you want to sway to the beat mellowness that Mary’s does. Maybe cuz I’m so old school but Mary’s version was just on point in everyway.

But Ciara did do her thing.

this goes to show you that no matter how much better an artist can sing over the next person, it all depends on the song. judging just from this song alone, I can honestly say Ciara sung it better than Mary….but, both did their thing, but Ciara’s voice suits this song more so than Mary’s.

And whomever is going to buy Ciara’s next CD based on this one performance - DON’T - you will be disappointed. She has 1 or 2 good singles, and the rest are album fillers. Go on iTunes and pay .99 cent for the single.

Ciara rocked this song better because her voice is sweeter and softer and it fits the song better. She is able to convey the sexual nature of the song. Mary’s voice does not do that. Plus Mary has gotten stuck in a pattern of sounding the SAME in all of her songs. Honestly, I have never understood all the hype about Mary. She often sings VERY flat and I just wonder does NO ONE else hear that but me?!

I didn’t really like the song. They both sang well though, but I liked Ciara’s version more. It was more upbeat.

The song doesn’t flatter either of them, although Mary sounds better. Mary’s version does sound like something we’ve heard from her before. It’s not quite ‘What’s The 411′ but more like a ‘Share My World’ track anyday. Ciara can’t sing at all. She just can’t. Before anyone calls me a hater, my opinion has nothing to do with her as a person. She entertains, but for me that’s not enough. It continues to amaze me how dancing and a manufactured persona are somehow adequate substitutes for true vocal talent. Obviously vocal talent isn’t enough either because there are countless vocal superstars who are largely overlooked because they are bland or have no presence. I hate to open a pandora’s box of Beyonce, but she’s one of few who can actually do BOTH. It should be mandatory for every singer to run on a treadmill and sing at the same time.

I agree with #155, both of their voices are limited for different reasons!!! Mary sounded like she was doing her usual straining. Ciara soundede like, well, herself. It definately sounds like something for a “sweeter sounding” voice. I wouldn’t mind hearing Mya or Tyra B sing it.

Yea…to whoever said Rihanna took over…Ciara’s last album out-sold Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad” album and the re-release put together.

Im definatly going with Ciara! Mary & Ciara are both great vocalist in there own way and though this may sound like a song that Mary would sing for some reason her version doesnt have the same effect as Ciara’s version. CC’z version is definatly better

Ciara sang the song well. However, I think Mary’s makes the song more soulful and edgy. It’s about the attitude. In addition, it sounded like Ciara’s version went through the mastering process and Mary’s version didnt. I could be wronged.
