Hi Ursula,
I love they way you keep Rihanna looking great as well as other stars, you are very talented. I want to color or highlight my hair and I am greying early her and there on the front part of my hair. What color product do you recommend I do have a relaxer. Is there any children products that you recommend, I have a beautiful little girl as well. So basically what’s your favorite color line and children products we both have relaxers. Thanks

Ursula,
Hey girl, u r so awesome! Question: I just recently started working out 5 days out of the week and when i get through my hair is soaking. I wash it once a week and i notice that sometimes it will get dry. Any advice as to how I should treat my hair during the week since it constantly has sweat in it? Should I wrap it while I exercise?

I have started working out & would love to know a few cute hairstyles I can wear while getting in shape (btw: I hate cornrolls). My hair is very thick and I have realized that I sweat from the head alot which turns my press back to a natural QUICK. lol

Hi!
I have a round shaped face and i wanted to know what hairstyles are best for me. I’ve been doing the side part with side swiped bangs for a while but i wanted to know what other styles are out there tht would fit my face shape?
Also, for the past couple years I have been wearing sewn in weaves and while I wear the weave my hair has been growing a lot, this summer I did not have a weave, i wanted to let my hair breath but I’m thinking about getting one again since it does make my hair grow, do u think this is a good idea?
Thanks!

When I was younger I had long, thick hair; but around the age of 13/14 I started getting perms and my hair start falling out around the edges and my hair became thin. What can I do to help it grow back/ certain products you would recommend? Also I want to cut my hair but I have a round face so what hairstyles would you recommend? Thanks !

Ok I have a couple questions…Might be redundant I didn’t have time to read the previous comments to see if someone has the same issues.
1st What is the best way to keep hair moisturized during the winter,i.e is there a moisurizer thats good for daily use?
2nd When I get my hair permed and then wash it at home it no longer seems straight my edges are not smooth at all. Is that maybe cause the perm is no good (if so what is the best brand?) or is there a technique to washing your hair?
3rd In genereal what brand of products do you swear by to get healthy hair?
Theres more but I dont want to over do it.
Thanks Ursula

Hi Ursula,
I have very thin/fine hair and I was wondering if there are any products that I can use to make my hair thicker? I don’t have a problem with it growing, I’ve been using Dr. Miracles, its just that my hair is extremely thin is there anything out there at all?
Thanks!

Does Rihanna or Keyshia Cole use Manic Panic?
Manic Panic is an herbal and protein complex, and therefore doesn’t hurt your hair — in fact, it’s conditioning. Most “natural” hair color dyes are chemical and therefore damage your hair. Bleaches are the harshest on your hair.
Processed hair (colored, permed, etc) will also grab the hair color strongly. This type of hair DOES NOT always need to be bleached, as the results will usually be good. (Bleaching processed hair can have a damaging result, please consult a pro before you attempt this). If your hair is pre-processed, simply wash the hair with a PH Balanced shampoo or any plain, simple shampoo that does not contain conditioners. Remember, you want your hair to be as oil/coating free as possible to permit the Hair Color to penetrate the hair shaft.
Color may temporarily stain the skin and may permanently stain clothes, towels, bedding and other material. Do not use alkaline products in conjunction with Hair Color. This will upset the acid-balanced state necessary for maximum absorption of color by the hair. If setting lotions or blow-dry lotions are required to be used, low pH, non-alcohol based products are recommended.
Using something like a light purple or a pale blue on dark hair is going to do nothing but condition it. Darker shades of dyes Manic Panic usually contain more pigment which will help the colour show up and stay on your hair. These colours will add a slight tint or a highlight in bright sunlight to your hair. You should also be aware that these dyes work by sinking into the hair and so if your hair is natural it’s usually less damaged and the dye will find it more difficult to soak in. For this reason, the dye will probably last for a lot less time than stated on the bottle.
Your hair is Black/Dark Brown
Manic Panic - Deadly Nightshade*, Vampire Red*, After Midnight Blue*, Black & Blue, Enchanted Forest*
Your hair is Medium/Light Brown
Manic Panic - Infra Red*, Pillarbox, Purple Haze*, Plum Passion

it’s good to get info from a stylist but it’s also nice to become self reliant. alot of u are asking questions that u could find out for yourself. u should go to longhaircareforum.com and alot of ur questions will b answered. i already know the answers to some of these questions but i’m not a professional. but i do suggest u go to hair websites. some of the stuff may be unconventional but i can tell u that my hair has done a complete 180. it takes care and patience. there’s no magic pill for long hair. u guys should check it out

Yes I live n NYC and it is hard as hell to find a salon/stylist that can style/cut hair. I go to the Dominicans. I finally got up enough nerve to cut my hair this summer, and the cut is cute, but I need some flava to it style wise, instead of the basic wash n set look. Where can I go so that when I leave the salon I actually look like I got my hair professionally done!?! Thanks!

I’ve given up perms due to damage. I’ve transitioned from relaxed to natural and my natural hair grows in corse coils. I believe my coily hair is beautiful but it looks like a matted mess. Is there any way to bring out my coils and soften my locks w/o relaxers? And what kind of hair does the “google me” taylor girl wear and what is the price range? I love it because it reminds me of clasic kelis! If I can’t grow it I’ll lace it!

I see that everyone has already asked questions that I was going to ask tee hee soo..
I KNOW this is old school, but what are your thoughts on the hot comb? I know people that use it instead of getting relaxers. Is this a better alternative than using chemicals?
Also keeping a scalp healthy; I use grease my scalp every other day, which led to build up quicker therefore making me wash my hair sooner than I liked to. I could go on forever about all my scalp dilemmas but I don’t want to be a hog! Whats the best route for taking care of your scalp?

PLEASE what ever you do….Don’t use glue in your hair. Take it from someone who tried it before. It takes forever to come out. Like 2-3 weeks, cause the glue starts to ball up. Girl, it’s cute till you have to take it out, then it works your nerves!
It usually comes out when you comb or brush your hair. Now they have glue remover like at SALLEY’S for instance, so just a heads up.
For those who may want to know, KERA CARE hair products work wonders for my hair. Makes it very manageable.

Hey Ursula,
Well, I usually do sew-ins but I was wondering how long it should be kept in as some ppl have different opinions on this but is it generally 6-8 weeks? Also, I recently took one out and asked my hairdresser for a trim as I’ve heard that a trim should be done ever so often, but she said since I was putting another weave right back in, that wasn’t necessary, was this really the case? What do you recommend for detangling hair as it gets tangled alot….
And what do you recommend for making hair thicker?
Also, I’m in the process of growing my hair longer and I was planning on dyeing (semi-permanent) it when I’m done but I know the process can be damaging for some ppl so should I do it now to see if it’ll be ok on my hair, wait till it’s longer then dye it (and possibly have to start all over again) or not dye it at all?
Thanks!!!!

Because I’m a full-time college student and I work, I just throw my hair in a ponytail and go because I get impatient and frustrated with flat ironing my hair and wrapping it after I wash it. My hair is naturally curly, but I have a relaxer so it doesn’t curl like it used to, or else I would just do the natural thing every once in a while. Do you have any suggestions on hairstyles and products that could help me out? Oh and one more thing, I don’t like the ceramic flat iron I have now and I’m looking to buy a new one. Is there a particular brand or type you would recommend? Thanks Ursula!

Hi Ursula,
I recently started doing my own hair for financial reasons. Are there any inexpensive products you could recommend? I currently use the Olive oil perm along with Pantene Pro V shampoo for relaxed and natural hair and alter ego deep conditioner. I wash, blow out and flat iron my hair every week. My hair is very strong and I would like it to continue to grow out healthy. Am I doing the right thing or is there something else you could recommend.

I’m a huge fan and an aspiring Hair Stylist. I’m current in Cosmetology school with only a 200 hours out of 1200 left to go:-)
I’m a strong believer in HEALTHY HAIR, but also fashion forward hair.
My questions for you are:
What are some good products to use on color treated and chemically altered hair? Particularly bleached, lightened, and relaxed hair.
also
What is some advice you can give to those wanting to become a celebrity hair stylist such as yourself?
