URSULA!!
I love your work, and would like to ask what I can do to update my hair style. Currently I have jaw length, relaxed ‘afro’ hair which ends up getting tied up every day because it isn’t styled at all. I’d like to try something completely new that’s flattering to my face shape which ironically is slightly similar to rihanna’s but a little more “plus sized!”
Thanks

Hi, I am an african american female (nothing but black in my blood) with shoulder length hair. What products can I use to make it grow (quickly, if possible) longer and become thicker? What products would you suggest I use to maintain my hair? Will vitamins help?

This is a great idea Concreteloop! My question is: How do people in Hollywood maintain and care for their natural hair (natural meaning “hair without perms or chemicals”? For instance, what does Tyanna Taylor use on her hair to keep it moisturized and to have good curl definition?
I also have a hair blog which focuses on teaching woman how to accept, love, grow, and care for their Natural hair. I have been Natural for 8 years and have been able to achieve waist length Natural hair with my method of caring for my hair. I am just curious about how people in Hollywood maintain their Natural hair as well.

After reading the first article about Ursula S. I went and chopped off all my hair. Before I did that I researched a lot info about face shapes and what would do nice with my face shape. It just felt like too much researching so I chopped it off and now I have something similar to a mushroom but short in the back, somewhat tapered and I liked it. I came back to school and see that everyone has cut their hair as well. What can I do to take it to the next level? I’m not talking completely bald, but I mean unique. Color wise, and style wise..I realize that this is a lot of questions but I am dying for a new look. I tried to find your email address and ask you before but I have no such luck.
Thanks Soo Much!!

Hi Ursula,
Do you have any suggestions on products to use on big curly hair? My hair is curlier in some parts than others and sometimes it can look dry. I want it to look even all over. I was actually planning to do some research on products and stylists that specialize in naturally curly hair. Do you have any suggestions? I have been using the same cheap gel for the past 20 years! I wash my hair with whatever is on sale and I know this is starting to take a toll on my hair. I have used Mixed Chicks before but it really didn’t benefit me much. If you have any suggestions on stylists..I live in LA. I really need help!
Thanks again,

I was wondering for a sew-in is it better to s-type braids or a bee-hive?
Last one! My hair is permed but I want it to look naturally curly sometimes is there a easy way to achieve this without getting a texturizer?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Ursula,
I am 35 years old and I have noticed that my hair is thinning and seriously breaking around the edges , especially right at my center part (on the left side, LOL). I have curly hair that I wear natural for the most part, but the breakage is not a game and I am afraid to press it or get my once annual weave, cause it’s looking thin! I have been advised to use Dr, Miracle’s products and Biotin tablets. Is that good advice?

I recently permed my hair in March after cutting off the perm hair and going back natural for a year due to breakage. I’ve been going to the same hairdresser, using the same perm, conditioning every 2 weeks and perming within 7-8 weeks. I have very thin hair. However, yesterday when i went to perm my hair as scheduled my hair has bad breakage in the back, the ends are gone. What am I doing wrong? How do I prevent this from happening a third time? Should I go back natural again and start over? What do you recommend?

I went natural about a year ago; this summer cut the perm completely out. I now am straightening my hair, because truly I have a bob and am not completely comfortable wearing it in curls. I know from prior experience that putting heat to your hair regularly can cause it to break off, so my question to you is do you have any ideas of how I could wear my hair. I was thinking spiral curls, like done with the flexy rods, but scared it would just look kind of coarse. Thanks!

I wear a weave glued in the top w/a closure piece and the rest of my hair is full on the sides and back. What I can do? Will EVER grow back? What would you suggest?
