Andre 3000 smiles with Barney’s creative director Simon Doonan at the launch of his menswear clothing line Benjamin Bixby at Barneys New York.
The premiere took place during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s kick off last Friday, hosted by actress Charlize Theron and many guests stopped by to see what Andre had in store. The Fall 08/Spring 09 collection which consists of 70 pieces, is a late 1930′s inspired line drawn from old college football documentaries.
JUSTIN MAKES A DEBUT DURING FASHION WEEK
Another celebrity that participated in fashion week over the weekend was Justin Timberlake, with his line. Justin, photoed with designers Johan Lindeberg, Marcella Lindeberg, and his business partner/friend Trace Ayala all took the runway after the William Rast Spring 2009 runway show this past weekend.
Both Timberlake and Ayala collaborated with designers Johna and Marcella to create both the Spring line and show. Word is, the Tennessee duo placed up wooden benches, leather lounge chairs and buckets of Budweiser to give that Southern twang to the guests invited. Love the idea about Andre leveraging his dollars and marketing influence but them clothes are type conservative- his clothes almost mirror POLO sht! He needs to come a little better -not bad though I guess it is just the start! Do the dam thing Dre!

Andre 3000 has great style! It will be interesting to see how the line does. I think when it comes to individual style choices celebrity lines don’t always hit the mark. But Andre is an original in many regards because African American men tend to dress in uniforms and don’t take very many risks or think outside of the box too often. That is is people like Kanye, Lupe, Fonzworth Bentley, Taz Arnold, Tricky and Pharrell stand out more in terms of the choices they make. Less conventional more stylish. I’m glad Andre can inspire people to try different thing more than trying to dress like him.

@ #7 Andre’s line looks exactly like Polo’s. I thought I was the only one. I do like it though and I see it doing well. I don’t see myself wearing that, but I see a lot of others buying it.
Who cares about Justin? Punk couldn’t even be a man and come to Janet’s defense, something you participated in. Yes I’m still salty about how he treated an iconic legend. He came at Prince as well, someone who’s sound you mimic. You came from a bubble gum pop boy band, used Timbo and stole an urban sound just so you could get us to buy your music. Opportunist.

I like both clothing lines. Andre 3000′s clothing line is nice and different, I’ll definitely be checking on where I can get some of it. ESPECIALLY that B sweater. I’m LOVIN that!!!

well what i can really say about both dre an justin is that they have come up with both great lines for certain people with certain taste could buy. Me on the other hand i love them both as my mama used to say ” Aint nothing like a well dressed man” i always thought of it but never in my life did i think it was true. But now since i know ill try to take more effort into it

I actually like his stuff finally someone who doesnt just think jeans and tees are fashionable. I hope he continues to set trends and offer us clothes that rival some of the more well known white designers. J Shitalake take note, you can do something different and it work. I dont need a graphic tee with your logo for 50 bucks or your catch phase for 30 PDiddy. Design clothes for people to wear in everyday life that is more then a rap video.

Andre has always had a unique style, a mix of old world in a new age. This is a reflection of his open-mindedness, and hard earned wisdom. This man was born to stand out, and so dose his clothing line!!! I think that it’s a great opportunity to get more individually, out into the main stream. I grew up with Andre, my daughter’s growing up with Class of 3000, I can’t wait to see what influence he’s had on the next generation. GO, DRE, GO!!!!
Justin gets in where he fit’s in. What else can be said?
