♫ HOT OR NOT: D.O.E. - “COMING DOWN”
Thursday, September 25, 2008

Check out this new track from D.O.E. featuring Keri Hilson. If you don’t remember who D.O.E. is, he appeared on Timbaland’s “The Way I Are,” which also features Keri. D.O.E. is a signee on Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group imprint, and has been down with them for a while, so it’s interesting to see that he just now has music coming out.
“Coming Down” is produced by none other than Timbaland’s protege, Nate “Danjahandz” Hills. I really dig the pop sound of the track, but with rapping over it. It just feels different than any other “rap” out there, especially with D.O.E. sing-rapping on the hook.

I’m sorry, but this song is wack, and I’m usually a fan of whatever Timbaland puts out. But ever since he’s gone pop, I’ve lost interest.
And the guy’s voice is very monotone. Dull and boring. Try again.
Music is so bad these days, and has been for years. I encourage you all to turn off the radio and search for authentic music.

Take me back to 1990’s cause this new R&B/Rap is horrible.
I’m ready for another election post so we can discuss the idiot known as Sarah Palin.

stfu wit all this ‘i miss real hip hop sh*t’
truth is all them rappers from the 90s u so called love are old married wit grown azz kids n prolly dont even listen 2 rap
stop comparing now and then
rappers of the 90s tried to make us think…well some of us dont feel like “thinking”
rappers now are more inovative
and i would listen to rap from 03 to now wayyyyyyy before i’d listen to rap of the early 90s

Man this song is hot. I am sorry I never followed who D.O.E is but I like this song. Big ups Danja. Man I swear it seems like maybe only a few people on here that really have a ear for different sounds. This shit is fire for real and very pop crossover which seems to be the field everyone is going for today which is should be. I always told to not always make you should always create music that is mainstream and that does not just cater to one audience cause when you do you have more than one crown of people listening to your music. I big ups the people that have a ear for different sounds and not always the same shit.

It’s good to see women in the industry making it, the beat sounds ok. But the song does nothing for me, it sounds like something to groove to if your out dancing. I’m not feeling her voice or D.O.E. I think the beat needed a better song to it. As a artist they should always strive to be on top of the game and not in the middle.

It’s ok. If i heard it on the radio, I would probably chage the station though. Why did I think that was Forest Whitaker at first glance?

CL have overrated Keri Hilson, she is a good songwriter and has a decent voice but she seems to give her best songs to other people and her own songs are not impressive at all.
I hate Timboland, you can’t compare his music with Aaliyah and Missy to the crapshit he makes today! All of his music now sounds the damn same. And why do black artists feel the need to go the pop root in order to sell? Whats wrong with urban musi?, Why go from singing soul/r&b to singing bubblegum pop/electro? And we applaud white artists for switching to urban music in order to sell whilst black people can’t sing urban music and sell??? What has the world come to!!!
And @Ashley- what are you smoking?

The beat sounds like the song of an UK grime Artist called Tinchy Stryder…the song is called “Stryder Man”…Look it up on Youtube…I spell a copyright suit coming…lol…the song does nothing for me…But I too love Keri Hilson, beautiful and talented…the songs are ground breaking but Im all for industry women doing for themselves..!

I’ll keep my questions light and easy, since it’s obvious you don’t wanna “think”.. You ready? Here goes:
1. What does a rapper getting older, getting married and having children have to do with the state of music today?
2. To be innovative you have to build upon something already solid and improve it or create something new and exciting. How is this song innovative or what rappers put out today contributing to the genre?
If you can answer these questions with the least bit of conviction there might be help for your mindless drone generation after all.

Just like y’all was promoting a flop - Solange, you guys are promoting a future flop-Keri Hilson. No singles on radio, no outfits or blog posts can help this girl.

Ok I like Keri Hilson , but why is this chick on everyones song but her own. Is she even promoting her album. That is why Beyonce and Rihanna are ahead of the game in the music industry. They stay promoting their music. That is why you see them in Canada, London, Paris, Austrlia, and so on because they are promoting their music and what ever else they have that they need to promote. So if you guys and girls are wondering why your favorite artist is still in the background that is the reason.
