Kanye West closed this year’s MTV VMA’s with his new single from his upcoming album, the follow-up to 2007′s critically acclaimed, Graduation. The new single, “Love Lockdown” find Kanye West singing with auto-tune, a la T-Pain, with a simple drum kit and piano. I loved the energy of the song on the awards, and I love the organic feel of the studio version.
Although Kanye is a bit pitchy at times with his singing, I think that’s what makes the song. I almost wish that he’d taken it a step further and left the effects off of the vocal. I love what this sounds like though. I think the new album will be dope.
According to Amazon, Kanye’s new album is entitled 808′s & Heartbreak and is set for a December release.

I dont know. The live version sounded better. The hook on her sounds like his jaw was wired shut. His voice is too loud over the beat, the piano sounds off. This was just a bad choice all together. Like i said, the live version was pretty different and hot, but this definitely aint polished and hopefully not the final version

This must be a demo because it sounds like garbage. Things like this always sound better and because I didn’t watch that shitfest called the MTV awards; I’ll take everyone’s word. Hopefully he’ll redo it because this is good enough to be the final product.

Hmm. Lets see – how much does kanye make in a year – we can all agree that it is well over 100K. So, why the f*ck can he not pay for vocal lessons? Its real easy, see, you meet up with a vocal coach, let them hear where you want to go, and they will tell you if it is possible (in most cases it is, just takes practice). You meet with them once a week – or more if you can afford it (which he can).
Then you hop on a track like this and f*ckin kill it!
Sadly, this is not what was done here, and it is disappointing – no matter how creative everyone says he is.
F*ck autotune, use melodyne b*tches – way more natural (so is Waves Tune) – if that is what you are going for. The best results from all of these tools is when it is being used for MINOR touch ups, not over the whole lead vocal track LOL
So sad that this is acceptable/cool/creative by most peoples standards…

Sorry but I don’t like it. It’s bland and it never builds anywhere. Some people will love it regardless because it’s Kanye and say “I love it cause it’s different.” Different doesn’t necessary mean good or better. The auto tune most go. It would probably sound more pleasing without alterations to his vocals. The war cry or whatever at the end needs to go too. I do like the lyrics and by the sounds of the album title this album may be his most personal. Not anticipating his album but I am interested to see what he writes about this time around.
