POLITICS: ‘BLACKS AGAINST OBAMA’ INTERRUPT OBAMA’S SPEECH IN FLORIDA

September 19th, 2008

Democratic U.S. Presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign rally in Coral Gables, Florida on Friday was interrupted by a group of African-American protesters, calling themselves “Blacks Against Obama”.

The “Blacks Against Obama” group, consisted of about 10 African-Americans that showed up at the Obama rally in Florida. The protesters held signs saying, ”Obama was for gay marriage and abortion, and said his candidacy was “endorsed by the KKK.” Another sign said, “Jesse Jackson hates Obama.”

Barack Obama was going to allow the protesters to stay at the rally, but they kept on shouting and interrupting the rally, and had to be escorted out.

It’s sad because there’s soooo many issues that everything can’t be covered and yet people are so quick to criticize. I’m not gay, but so what if two people of the same sex wants to get married. As long as I’m accountable for my sins, then I’m fine. God laid it out for us and Jesus died for us….. we all know how the God felt about same sex intergrating….. I guess as a people we are never satisfied. When judgement day comes…. remember….. God is going to address you and you only…. you can’t blame your actions on genetics or who was president…. and remember don’t judge unless you want to be judged. Make sure you say your prayers tonight. Bless you all…..

I’ve always known that if anyone was to ruin a black man’s chance of “doing the impossible” it would be another black man. Things like this are reasons why I can’t understand why whites are so much at fault for our current situation. We have to admit that a good amount of the time we do it to ourselves. That had to be the most shameful display of blacks tearing each other down if I’ve ever seen one. Endorsed by the KKK? Where did that logic come from?

Let me just say this.... (I don't care if ya get mad)

I agree with #1-6 anyway I hope CL doesn’t mind this post….. I thought the words were not only true but well put together in the poetic prose

    Just Because He’s Black

A white man asked his black friend, ‘Are you voting for Barack Obama just because he’s black?’
The black man responded by saying, ‘Why not? Hell, in this country men are pulled over everyday just cause they’re black; passed over for promotions just cause they’re black; considered to be criminals just cause they’re black; and there are going to be
thousands of you who won’t be voting for him just because he’s black!

However, you do not seem to have a problem with that!
This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves’ back,
and now a descendent of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country, where we weren’t even considered to be people, where we weren’t allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same restaurants, or even vote.

So yes! I’m going to vote for him! But it’s not just because he’s black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to understand when my grandson says that he wants to be president when he grows up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. He now sees, understands and knows that he can achieve, withstand and do ANYTHING just because he’s black!’

That was so inappropriate. When will we realize that going against our own only makes us look like idiots as well as bring happiness to everyone who supported and still believes “Jim Crow”. As a democrat I’m am not for abortion, but that one issue won’t make me turn my back on a party I believe in and a man I believe will bring about so much positive change. In regards to the protest group ” Black People Do Better” because there is a time and a place.

I don’t think its a SHAME that some black people don’t support Obama. That’s their perogative. But I think it is a shame that they felt the need to interrupt his speech to do so AND that they’d rather waste their time talking against him than doing something more productive.

I’m really going to need for you get your grammar situation straight if your goal is to make an intelligent point. It actually does matter who gets elected, especially when it comes to taxes. With Obama, the working/middle class will receive a substantially larger tax cut over his term vs. McCain’s plan which would result in a tax increase! Seniors will get a major tax cut, and small businesses will get tax cuts. The biggest tax cuts go to the rich under McCain’s tax plan while under Obama’s the rich get a tax hike. So…get your facts straight after you get your English straight. Thanks!

I was shocked when I seen this on another blog. I bet it’s the people that were born or welfare and has 2-3 kids without a job and making welfare a career. People need to learn how to get a job. I feel good every Jan when my w-2′s come in the mail!!! Better yet Mccain and his campaign probably gave these people $200.00 again like Bush did in Fl in 2004 to vote for him !!! Go ahead and vote Mccain , and you need to say bye , bye to HBCU’S , because republicains do not support the bill that gives Public , and HBCU’s Collgees extra $$$ for students , and we know most of us can barely afford either college !!! Jesse Jackson is a devil I know he was all up in this with his baby outside his marriage !!!!!

Why “Blacks” against Obama, rather than “Americans” against Obama. Would they have done the same thing if the candidate were white? Probably not. The sad truth is there are black people who are terribly biased against their own race, and we just got a chance to witness it! The truth of the matter is we have middle class working Americans in this country who are living paycheck to paycheck, losing their homes, losing their jobs, losing loved ones in the war, etc. This is all because we have a republican President who knows nothing about the plight of the average working class citizen in this Country. WE NEED CHANGE!!!!!!

What I like most about Obama is not only is he an educated, handsome, black family man, and a role model to so many, but he’s so diverse. When he speaks, you can tell he’s very comfortable around people of all races, gender, social classes, etc. That to me, is a true American.

Aside from the sheer ignorance, what pisses me off is that none of those folks would have a “Blacks Against McCain” or “Blacks Against Clinton” sign! It’s only because Obama is a Black man, those fools feel the need to do it. If you don’t like him, fine. Why can’t you just be Against Obama? But nope, those fools take it to another level and add more color fuel to the raging fire. Those Blacks don’t speak for me or on my behalf.

    ummm... yeah

If this is the same group that protested the last time in St. Petersburg, Florida, they are lead by a man who was part of SNCC back in the day. He is now heading an “African nationalist” group called UHURU.

The issue I see with them is not that they protested. I have no problem with voicing your angst. The problem is they did so in a very ignorant manner. And I don’t mean the signs and things. I mean the basis of their argument is flawed. They assume that because Obama didn’t march with the Jena 6 he isn’t for black people. They assume that because he didn’t make a speech about the Shawn Bell incident, he isn’t for black people. They make a lot of assumptions and conclusions without looking at his actual policy stances and the actions he’s taken that actually benefit black people.

I say challenge the man, but do it with relevant information…don’t just make an *** out of yourself and crush your cause by looking like a bunch of schizos.

    well said @#17-Beautiful…

I think that it’s fine that these so called “blacks against obama” choose not to vote for this man, but crashing during this his campaign speech is not only disrespectful but also a form of their own internalized racism that creates a mockery towards their own kind.

We can’t always blame white folk when they try to brings us down since at times we can be the culprits of our own problems but we don’t realize it. By bashing one another, we are giving other minority groups an invitation to undermine us.

We have a black man who is ready to pave the way in every shape or form for all blacks out there who want to pursue dreams, but if we want to continue to be hostile towards our own kind, then we have made ourselves hideous creations of society…

Crabs in a Barrell, lol they probably sit around talking in ignorance, and came up with their conclusion about obama. without actually picking up a book to read. this shyt really pisses me off. hopefully someone handed them a brochure , or brought them a book…. what does the KKK have to do with price of eggs in china, what does Jesse have to do with anything? damn… it would have been better if the actually had an issue? instead that have signs with lies. if you have a friends or relatives like that … direct them to http://www.barackobama.com .

i would really like to chop it up with those folks to see what really going on? and why aren’t they making a scene at Mccains campaign.

and futher more…. we know the kkk endorment was false right? and if it was true, wouldn’t it be the perfect way to split up a group of people. they would endore not to cause him to win but the opposite… it’s not a matter of who endorse you.. its a matter of who you endore.. yeah i know i’m rambling.

OBAMA IS TRYING TO STAND FOR ALL PEOPLE!!!!! BLACK FOLKS NEED TO STOP THINKING THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND THEM. RACE POLITICS ARE A DANGEROUS GAME AND OBAMA HAS STAYED WELL CLEAR, HE’S TOO SMART FOR THAT, UNLIKE THESE OLD GUYS LIKE JACKSON.

WAS THIS GROUP OF 10 BLACK PROTESTERS, THE BLACK EQUIVALENT OF THE WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH LOL? OR ARE THEY MCCAIN/PALIN SUPPORTERS? DID THEY PAY THE MTO DO THIS I WONDER. AT LEAST OBAMA HAS THE DECENCY NOT TO PITCH A FIT, HE’S TOO SMART FOR ALL OF THAT. BLACK PEOPLE EVEN WHEN THEY’VE GOT AN OPPORTUNITY WANNA THROW IT AWAY, TOO OFTEN. DO NOT LET OBAMA SLIP AWAY TOO. I BET MORE AVERAGE JOE WHITE PEOPLE, AND FOLKS FROM OTHER RACES CARE MORE ABOUT THIS ELECTION AND OBAMA THAN A LOT OF AVERAGE AFRICAN AMERICANS OUT THERE.

AND THE SADDEST THING IS THAT MILLIONS OF BLACK PEOPLE PROBABLY AREN’T REGISTERED TO VOTE. WE CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE, BUT ONLY IF THE IGNORANT FOLKS GO OUT AND REGISTER FIRST!!!!!
