POLITICS: FINAL NIGHT OF THE RNC
Friday, September 5, 2008
On Thursday, John McCain accepted the presidential nomination of the Republican Party. “Change is coming,” he promised the roaring Republican National Convention and prime-time television audience.
MCCAIN TRIBUTE
During the night, the Republican National Convention paid tribute to the Republican presidential candidate.
CINDY MCCAIN’S RNC SPEECH
Cindy McCain explained why her husband should be president: “It’s going to take someone of unusual strength and character — someone exactly like my husband — to lead us through the reefs and currents that lie ahead. I know John. You can trust his hand at the wheel.”

anywhew… I couldnt get past all the makeup he had on, and the blatant theft of half the concepts of Barack’s speech. WOW.. Change is coming? If he tells his war hero story one more damn time, imma shoot myself in the foot. Maybe that means I should be the president of Nike. Well I wasnt impressed. His speech was sketchy and all over the place. Palin’s speech was written by someone else, and she only added a few of her life stories mess. She skimmed over her shambles of a family….. had Barack had that many holes in his family’s makeup, every republican would be talking about it all damn day…

He still had no specific plan outlined. I really wasn’t that impressed, for me half the speech was P.O.W. and war talk. I’m tired of hearing that. And is it me or was he was using Obamas “Yes We Can” and “Change” slogans? And then a chick out there in the audience holding a ‘Drill Baby Drill’ sign? All I could do was shake my head. Everybody thought it was such a great speech but he didnt’ say anything! Man, I can’t wait for the debates.
And I’m glad Barack went on the O’Reily show! Even Bill had to give Obama his due!

Well before every one get on here with their people bashing. I thought it was a good speech and it’s what he’s been saying all along. It’s your choice who you vote for in just under eight. Just remember country first, so who every wins deserves our support. And for everyone who said if Obama does not win they are leaving the country. Please do. Dont be like those Kerry vote or die folk. put some action behind your words. and stop trying to drag us all back to slavery day.

John McCain’s speech was so lame. And his wife is one crazy looking heifer. I am afraid to look into her eyes, I feel like if I do, I’ll turn to stone…sort of like Medusa, you know?
I am tired of hearing about John McCain being a POW. Folks are afraid to let it be known that John McCain’s POW story is very stale at this point out of fear for being deemed unpatriotic. Well, I am here to tell you that being a POW does not qualify you to be president of the United States and I dare anyone to challenge my patriotism. I served in not one but two branches of the United States Armed Forces, both Navy and Army. I have had my fair share of combats, from Kosovo, in during Bill Clinton’s tenure, to the early parts of the Iraqi Freedom. If service is the yardstick used to measure patriotism, then I am more patriotic than most, including John McCain.

T.LYNN it is so nice to see I am not the only one who felt like both Palin and McCain speeches lacked substance. I felt like neither of them provided any outline as to where they are planning to take the country in the next four years. Can someone please explain “Country First”?? Is it how he opposes education support programs, supports tax breaks to big oil companies or maybe it has to do with spending over $200 million dollars a day fighting a misplaced war.

T.Lynn it was not just you who thought he was jacking from Obama. My husband and I watched that crap last night. I really felt like he wasn’t saying much. Other than the fact he was name calling Obama, talking about the war, and name calling these white families who, “lost everything and the mother was working three jobs to support her family because the husband HAD to take a temp job after being unemployeed for seven months,” it was nothing worth listening to. But my thing was, and I asked my husband this, Why isn’s he name calling “Shaniqua” and “Andre” who are doing the same thing and have been doing it for years? Does it take a white couple with a sad little letter to let you know that out economy is lower than worm sweat? He gave so much praise to Palin but how in the hee haw is she gonna run the country and she can’t even keep Alaska much less her own house together? Babies with D.S. need lots of attention.
But that’s just me.

BOOOOOOO! His speech sucked! And he hijacked so many of Obama’s themes it was disgusting. He said change more times than I could count. I hope no one believes the lies that come out of the Republicans mouths. Thank you McCain for fighting for this country and finishing fifth from the bottom of your class in the military but what have you done for me lately. You talk about change, yet you’ve been in Washington for God knows how many decades voting against the very reforms that this country so desperately needs. I dont believe you want change. You want to get into office in order to continue Bush’s failed policies. This country cannot afford John McCain as president.
On a side note, did anyone peep how dismissive and belittling the Repubs were toward community organizers? That disgusted me that they would take jabs at the people who are selflessly fighting to better the places they live. They are not out here pretending to care in order to win a vote like McCain.

I sat there through that speech being open minded, trying to understand what his policies were and what he stood. What I got out of his speech was no policies, a whole bio of his prisoner of war life and his so called change. When he kept talking about change, I back tracked to when this man said the whole change idea was a gimmick for democrats to win, yet he uses the same “gimmick word” On top of that I felt it was funny how he tried to criticize Bush and compliment him at the same time. That confused me dearly. Here are some keys things that really boggled me:
“People who get layed off from a corporation, its time they get up an find a job that will keep them”- well I’m sure from what I’ve seen, people that have worked at these corporations for years had no idea or warning they were gonna get layed off. Should people now go to jobs and ask the potential of them being layed off if the economy drops?
“If people can’t get a job in their field of study, we will make sure they go back an attend a community college to learn a trade.” -If I have done my years of school for a promising career that went downhill because of America’s outsourcing issues, you mean to tell me that I have to go and do more years of college to learn another trade I can care less for? Besides who is gonna foot that bill?
Off shore drilling is ridiculous. For one thing how much more are we gonna dig in this earth when there are other ways of energy proven to be efficient. Also they are not even shore if there is oil there. Lastly this will just be another oil company that will have the choice on raising gas prices, more taxes on citizens, while McCain and Palin become billionaires like Bush and Cheyney off of oil. They win this thing I’m off to Dubai where the country is rich and don’t believe in taxes on top of that.

@Ja nobody have not say anything about slavery days at all. Mccain speech was all over that place last nite. Saying that he have the wounds and Obama do not. First of all obama was not born when he fought the war. We do have choices if we want to join the army. Obama went another direction was helping his community and trying to make a different here. I respect your comments because i read every last one of them on the other posting. Yes people can vote for who they want. But i want to ask you a question give me a honest answer you can not tell me that this world went to shit for the last past 8 years. (That we all suffern now) What do you really think Mccain is going to do for us if he become president. Do you want the next 4 years to be like the 8.

I’m so sick of Ja’s simple-minded comments. It really annoys me when people fail to see through this transparent John McCain campaign. Ja has been making the most ridiculous comments since, most recently, yesterday on these political posts. I am not giving my support to a 3rd year Bush term or Republican presidential candidate that isn’t smart enough to come up with his own theme or concepts. He has to steal from the likes of Barack Obama (good) and the policies George Bush (obviously, bad). Give me a break! This man votes against Hurricane Katrina Relief, a modern GI Bill and anything that had to do with progressive health care for individuals in this country while he was in the Senate. His economic policies mirror the failing economic policies of George Bush. Last night, or hell even throughout his campain, I did not hear anything about his plans to actually move this country forward. His speech was about his life story, which Americans already know about since we’ve heard about it over and over again over the period of his campaigning since he first began running for president years ago. I’m over it. You are a war hero, McCain. There I said it, now can we finally move on, please?
What are you going to do to help this country regain its status as world’s most powerful? How are you going to fix our broken economy, and weak educational and healthcare systems?
I need to hear something more from you than an echo of Bush policies.
I’m also over him trying to position himself as the “Change Candidate”. When did you become the candidate for change, McCain? When you saw it was working for Obama? Or how about since the Republican Convention started? Yes, that must be it! You have voted with Bush 90 percent of the time and have been a member of the Washington elite for 26 years, but since last Friday you have seen the light! You have elisted the help of an obscure non-global warming believing, vote for the bridge to nowhere and accept the funds in the beginning, but after the world frown’s upon it decides she will too, yet she will keep the funds given to her state for the bridge, earmark opposing, yet requesting and accepting 3 of ‘em ,no choice giving, creationism teaching, alcoholic, bisexual, prego teen daughter having, Iraq war is a gift from God believin’, Pat Buchanan praising prude from Alaska (a state which your hubby at one point wanted to separate from the U.S.), Hillary Clinton women voter stealing, far right Republican. McCain, now you are magically going to erase your Bush loving record, big oil tax break giving, non caring about the struggles of the working-class and community activists, no Katrina relief giving ways. Wow! I’m glad you found the light last Friday! Thanks for such a quick turnaround!
I’m not ready to take a 10 chance on change either, Barack.

People criticized his speech as one of the worst. Although he didn’t really touch on policy enough, I thought his was the best of the convention. His running mate’s speech sounded more like someone playing the dozens instead of running for office, so she was totally bogus. His speech was respectful of those who choose to disagree (I think they modified his speech because of the Palin backlash) and he sounded more like a seasoned, mature man stating his case in terms of his will to lead and his hope for our country. He took a few jabs at Barack, but that’s you expect. Barack did it too. THe only that perplexes me is that I know John McCain is level-headed and always has been and I think we saw that again last night, but with all his wisdom, what the HELL was he thinking picking this chick? When I think of her, I think of her being president, and it just makes me sick to my stomach. I wouldn’t be so afraid of John McCain (although his 90% agreement with failed Bush policies isn’t a selling point), but that arrogant, uncultured, flippant, disrespectful, unaccomplished failure and liar makes me so nervous for our country.
I’ve supported Barack forever and will continue to do so, but I have give John McCain his props for his service to our country and I respect him for his sacrifice, but that does not make him Presidential material. He’s gotten every major service award and hopefully the country doesn’t see fit to reward him with the presidency solely because of heroism.

Sorry for the double posting ladies and gents.
I turned it off after 15 minutes, but I did hear snippets on the radio this morning.
First, I want to thank him for his service. This happened before I was born and he has my respect. However, I don’t care. Before anyone jumps down my throat think about this how many of us care about WW 1 and/or 2? We tend to be indifferent to things that happened well before our time.
Second, I commend McCain for his praise of Obama at the beginning. I must admit he got me for a quck second. I thought he was going to be above the slash and burn juvenile politicking he’s been doing. He questioned the man’s patriotism, Barack put that tail on notice and tonight he clearly stated that we are all Americans, acknowledged Barack’s historic campaign, Barack is a good man, yadda, yadda, yadda. Just when he pulled me in, he started talking that yang, yang and in turn I tuned out.
Third, he really doesn’t get it. I don’t want to hear why I shouldn’t vote for Barack. I want to hear your policies/ideas on health, education, gas prices, jobs, fuel efficiency and all that GOOD stuff that are going to make my life easier. I’m not asking for a handout. I have a Masters, licensed in elementary education and I am unable to find a teaching job. Yet, McCain is telling me to go to community college to learn another “trade” to find another job paying less. Mind you teachers even with a Masters Degree don’t make a lot of money as it is. Is he kidding me?!?!?!?!?!??!?!
Drilling is not going to get us out of our dependence on oil. The oil will be sold on the open market so not only are we drilling on our shores we won’t even reap the benefits. Also, it will not hit the market for at least 10 years making no impact on the cost of oil. He also fails to mention that the oil companies already have 62 million acres of land that they are not drilling on NOW. Oil companies are giving overwhelmingly to McCain’s campaign especailly since he started the “drill here, drill now” nonsense.
He is against universal health care, admitted he doesn’t know a thing about the economy and thinks No Child Left Behind is a great idea………………NOT!!
The country of Georgia started the attacks on South Ossetia, his campaign manager is a lobbyist for the country and McCain’s screaming at Russia. We KNOW they have weapons of mass destruction. I suggest he shuts the hell up because that is one war America or any other nation will not win.
If he’s elected, we are in worse trouble than we already are…………..sigh.

TO be honest with you I dont want anymore Clintion years. I can’t speck for everyone here and I dont try to. That’s why I always say VOTE FOR YOUR ISSUES. I have kids and a husband and and a house and a job and health insurance. I dont feel kick by the man and I have been proud my whole life to be an American. I came from South Oak Cliff one of the poorest areas of Dallas and I have a 401K. It wasnt because of Bill Clinton, George Bush, or Jessie Jackson that I am were I am today, It was my parents, my values and upbring. I with who ever is will to protect my right to be to my kids to what my parents were to me. I was in the army and I went to Iraq, Africa, Kuwait, and a few other countries where the government has complete control and I dont want that for my kids. I work hard to provide a life for my kids as well dose my husband, so I dont see what so many people don’t. I dont think it right that I shoud have to pay more taxes to help others who can do the same thing I can do raise there families. We can talk about who better and history, but in the end I’m going to vote for the person who address my needs. We are responosble for our life and family, not Obama or McCain I’m not going to get into Obama this and Obama that because here it’s a waste, were the most political thing some of us can do is call someone a bitch. But I will say if Obama win I’m still going to salute the flag because I know first hand what is like for many people who dont have the freedoms we enjoy in America. They American Dream is not the biggest house I want or the biggest cars, it’s the right to choice and a say in you future. We all have that now. Sometimes the only thing holding us back is Ourselves. I hope I answer your question, and My words are not to sway you, and yes I voted for Bush both times

@ Mandy (#5), they asked President Bush not to come because John McCain is trying to distance himself socially from the President although their voting records would have been identical. McCain agrees and votes with Bush policies (which have over half the country hating him) but does not want to be seen as “Bush” repubilcan. It would kill his “maverick” image. BTW, did ya’ll see the guy with the misspelled Maverick sign? It was spelled “Mavrick”. That’s that education system ya’ll, lol!!!

JA,
Bullcrap aside, I really want your opinion and to ask a question. If you’d like to share, who are you supporting in the election?
Also, how do you feel about John McCain’s tax cuts that will only provide a few hundred dollars relief to most working families and windfalls for the richest Americans? That’s one of my biggest issues with the Republicans. It seems as though they get “regular” Americans on social issues because they don’t have their financial interests at heart and address the rich folks at their pockets. I just find it kind of demoralizing to think that the “leaders” don’t care about people’s day-to-day survival. I support Barack because I really think he “gets it” and he has the intellect to present the concept so that we can laws passed that will actually help people.
I also think the stance on abortion, death penalty, sex ed, the war in Iraq, and the welfare system all reek with hypocrisy. How can we talk about preserving freedom and valuing life if we are not willing to show young women and men how not to bring new lives into the world prematurely, if our military hospitals are infested with disease and bugs, if we believe that as a country a modern-day stoning (execution) is okay, and if someone has made bad decisions in the past, that we are not willing to help them raise the children that they DID bring into the world? We want them (”them” includes undereducated, 13-year olds) to keep the babies, but don’t want to help out? We want to cut funding for programs that may help to balance the negativity they see in their households and take out off the path of murder, robbery, and ultimate destruction. And, I don’t like abortion personally, but I understand the possible need in certain circumstances.
I’m not asking you to speak for them all, and I know you’ve been attacked here for a difference of opinion, but what do you think?

Ja…from your last post, I get the impression that you find security in knowing that for right now, things have been good for you and family (mainly by your own doing however)…and that the decisions Bush has made over the past 8 years have not affected you neither directly nor critically enough to inspire change. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if it is the 401K, your present-day job and healthcare, and the ideal that the American Dream has already been fulfilled that keep you satisfied with the current state of our country, more power to you. I know that as a society we are better than the last 8 years, and I honestly feel like you may be selling yourself short by not realizing the potential of progress not only as a nation, but for yourself.

What you fail to realize is that government, so long as the government is strong and has the best interest of the people for which the country should be responsible and dedicated too — government works.
Lets remember that programs like Affirmative Action came from government. Let’s also remember that less government doesn’t always work, that is evident by the Regan administration when he eliminated programs that offered care to our injured vets, and the mentally ill.
You talk about what is best for your kids, yet you are supporting a candidate that will ensure that your kids, kids will be ponying up their money for the war and the administrations that you support.
I think the problem is that you feel as though you pulled yourself out of a somewhat hopeless situation — you beat the odds — so everyone else should or can do the same. It is never more evident than in this election, that the RNC is the party of white folks, ignorant and rich white folks. And you are right there in the midst. Maybe you were the one black person at the RNC convention this week, you know the one they kept panning to — moving around in the audience and what not.

Great Comments, Karen, ^1 and Bobbi. I also have questions for Ja that I liked to add to yours. We’re all glad that you had a great upbringing and a great job and all. I really couldn’t be happier for you. But this is not the case for everyone. What would you do if you were in the situation where your whole department was outsourced? These same companies that outsource jobs get tax breaks as well. Whatever than can do to get more money in their pocket regardless of whether or not it effects others.
How would you like it if more was taken out of your check than your boss’ check?
Also what would you do if you or your daughter were raped and got pregnant? What if your father raped you and you got pregnant? Would you want an abortion then?
Having a bachelor’s degree now is way different from having a Bachelor’s degree 10 years ago. I even have friends with Master’s that can’t get a job because most companies are starting to outsource the majority of the field completely.
A lot of us just want that hope back that most of us have lost. Not that we believe that Obama will do anything, it’s just that he gives us that hope back. And that’s all that some of us need. Michelle Obama said that that’s all black people need really is a chance. A chance to show people what we are made of. A lot of people hate on the ghetto, but really and truly, there are some very intelligent people there with just no sense of hope. Math whizzes, great mechanics and just whatever else you can think of I you will probably find there. If all they had was a chance along
with hope, they could do great things.

Guys..we have to get out and vote now more than ever. I have read various comments on different news websites - and they are appalling! Republicans are telling us (the country) not to vote for Barack because he “doesn’t have the experience” - but let’s call a spade a spade and an ace an ace. They don’t want a Black man in office. From the moment we were thrust onto Plymouth Rock - the White man has always been fearful of the Black man. And now the possibility of having one in office scares them. The Republicans also feel that young blacks (18-34) are all hype. yeah we like Obama, but we are not really a threat because we are not coming out to vote.. So we (young black voters) are really not a threat. Have any of the Republicans spoken at a rally in an inner city? That’s because they feel we are too busy smoking blunts, sagging our pants, listening to rap music, oh and selling drugs to come out and vote! They have always played us like we dont’ matter. We have to stand up and vote.. Our futures depend on it. I think it is finally time we showed them that hey we matter to, and we do have a voice.. Blunt smoking, sagging pants and all…I do matter and I do count!!
Ok so they have a candidate that relates to hockey moms or as she put it “pit bulls with lipstick” - but what about the single mother struggling to make ends meet? Who
relates to them? Or once again do they not count? We need to get everyone out and voting.. Everyone!!!

Community Organizers Do Have Responsibility Gov. Palin
Friday, September 5, 2008 /
Sen. McCain’s speech last night was kind of what I expected, but to me he is very vague about presenting a plan of action. A lot of people complain about specifics from Sen. Obama, but it’s September and I still have no idea of McCain’s plan of action. I was just irate at the fact that the good ol’ boy convention berated the work of community organizers (keep in mind that Dr. King, Caesar Chavez, John Adams, and even Jesse Jackson were all community organizers). To me the republicans don’t value any work that’s done by the average American citizen, especially young people because a lot of us fresh out of college or in college people do volunteer work for organizations ran by community organizers. The republican party just reeks of hypocrisy and it just turns me off…they rally the church behind them and ideology, and then make a mockery of it in commercials.
Also one more question…why is that everybody assumes that Obama supporters haven’t done their research and are misinformed…as if no one can actually believe in what he believes in???? This election has shown the true colors of the US.
Obama/ Biden 08…..10 % aren’t good odds.

Sigh, I was just thinking the same thing. It appears on this site and others that if you don’t totally agree with everything Obama says, then you’re labled a house negro or an Uncle Tom. Pleeeeese! I just choose to listen with my own heart and look up the information for myself. I’m not saying that Obama is wrong or right, just as I’m not ready to make an opinion about McCain. I watched his entire speech last night - and yes - it was boring in spots, but I love his war story. I have many relatives who fought in the Vietnam war - my father fought in that war. My heart truly goes out to those who suffered mentally and physically - then to come home and be treated like they were. Many republicans and democrats respect him for the service to this country and personally, I think we should to. His story is NOT a laughing matter and it should be told. Many men lost their lives and I find it totally disrespectful to dismiss his story.
JA, continue with your own opinions and don’t let anyone persuad you otherwise. Obama supporters will always support him - no matter what! I will probably vote for him (okay - did yall hear that) but I have serious questions about him. I just have that gut feeling (some of yall know what I’m talking about). But, I’m not going to diss the other candidate (John McCain) because he’s not a democrat.
A teacher asked my class long ago if we knew the difference between democrats and republicans. No one could truly come up with a great response. At the end of the class, he simply told us that the difference was the spelling. I’m looking at both candidates and I don’t have to put down one to uplift the other. Both of their conventions had bad/good points.

Actually things like this happen on every site which is terrible. I’ve been on Tmz and expressed my support for Obama and was called ignorant, fag, baby killer, and was even told that I must be another single mom with 5 kids and 5 baby daddies. Actually I’m not one of those. I’m an architect with a Masters, work at a firm, have no children, never was pregnant, and far from ignorant. It happens on every site whether you support Obama or you support McCain. There’s really no end to it honestly and unless you plan to visit every blog site and tell how you feel then your point is pretty much blank. Don’t come to one site or just blame Obama people. It’s people from both sides and in the end it’s plain ridiculous.

Like I said all along VOTE FOR WHO HAS YOUR ISSUES AT HEART
Why would I vote for someone who doesn’t believe like I believe. That dosent even sound right. This is a blog folks not a term paper. Some times my mind thinks faster than I type and i’m sure most of you dont get everything right everytime. I didnt know I was being grade to the blog standard. I’m happy to have given you your laugh for the day:)
Now to Karen,
Lets talk about Abortion, I’m glad you said that.
this is a issues for me because I came from a long line of Word of God preach and not so much the Mega Church of money. I’m southern Baptist so I believe that Abortion is a sin and it is wrong. I believe that for my family, but at the same time this is America and we all have free will. lets be real. We all know or shoud know that Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton were both decided on misinformation and flat out lies. I met Sandra and Norma, two very christian women great) they both seek to overturn both outcomes. You bring up great point that have put me at odds many times with things I have believe for my whole life. But at the sametime, who is regulating Abortion. There is no type of governing over the results of Abortion. No one is require to tell a 13 yr old that a abortion can kill her chances of ever having a child later in life. You dont need any type of special degree to be an abortionist, only to have graduated from Med school. Who is making sure that women are not being forced by parents, boyfriend or who ever into something they dont want. Now truth be told abortion was legal before roe v wade in 4 states. roe v wade wont end abortion right. that just basic truth. What it will do is let the states decide and and put a looking glass on the small issues that people dont see in relation to abortion.
We need more people to step up as parents. We can waste all the government ( yours and Mine tax dollars) on programs but lets face it, the government will never have as much money and power as BET, MTV, Def Jam, and let not for get myspace and the CW. The people who we really allow raise our kids. Until parents take back the control of the community there is still going to be HIV, Crime, and all the things that come from a lack of direction.

This Palin woman is truely a joke, but we must not forget that she is the governor of one of the smallest states with a population about 2/3rds the size of Dallas. So this makes her presidential material. This is starting to give me a headache. I think that Joe Biden will toast her when it comes debate time.
Finally, if you check up on Senator McCain you will find that he has always been a womanizer and you must admit that Sara Palin is a beauty queen. That was the only qualification that she really needed to be on McCain’s team. If looks are what it takes to get her elected, she is probably in, and then God bless us.
If you think that Bush was bad, if this woman happens to land in the White House if something should happen to McCain, we ain’t seen nothing yet. We will definitely be the laughing stock of the planet.

I watched all four nights of the Republican National Convention with objectivity and neutrality and I must say they disappoined me sorely. Not that they were aiming to please anyone but fellow Republicans but how can he bring about positive change in Washington when he and his campaign has done a poor job of bringing in a more diverse group of citizens. And I am not talking about race or ethinicity although that would be a good start for the RNC.
I felt like I was watching the movie “V for Vendetta” where the RNC was strictly catering to those who think just like them. The whole convention consisted of nothing more than attacks thrown and Obama and other citizens who do not believe like the RNC does. They also did a good job of replaying McCain’s biography the entire time.
I just do not believe or trust that McCain or Palin can bring the nearly 200,000 jobs we’ve lost back, or get America out of debt because they never once said how they planned to this.

I don’t see what’s wrong with Hillary helping the Campaign with female voters. She appealed to female voters when she was running, so is she supposed to stop campaigning because her name is not on the ticket? Is that what you’re implying?
Republicans aren’t stupid, they know that Palin will appeal to some femal voters included women voters who were upset that Hillary did not make the ticket. So then why should Democrats play dumb and not utilize Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Btw, I doubt Hillary minds, she doesn’t want to appear bitter, know what I mean.

Let me say this, it was and is not my intent to make people who will vote for Obama feel like I was questioning their intelligence. My reason in pointing out things is that these are two human beings that believe in their issues. Everyone has flaws. When McCain said fight with me, it made realize that this is going to be America no matter who wins. If Obama wins because more American want him then thats what America needs/wants. Same goes for McCain. It just makes me a little upset when I see comments like “I’m going to move out of the country if McCain wins” or ” If you black you should vote for Obama” thats not how a democracy works. and yes I hate to see people like Brad Pitt, Madonna, and Oprah ( rich people with tax breaks) say oh the country is this and that and we need better government and health care and schools, but turn around and take the money that we support them with and go to Africa. Like Katt Williams say, he got all his kids from right here. But you know what its their money. they worked for it. Who am I to tell them that they need to spend more of it here in tax, so I can get a tax break. If they wanted to these people could come to gether and feed every hungry child, and give health care to all who need it in America. But at the close of the day isnt the most important thing life, Liberty, and family. I respect your point of view trust me I understand everything you all are saying but I just fell differently about it.

@Westnbeauty, Thanks for the compliment - I think - and yes, I understand politics very well. As a former Hillary supporter, I just thought that to be interesting. And to answer your first question, I’ve heard many reasons why he shouldn’t put her on his ticket (none of which made complete sense to me, but anywho), but not even vetting her was perhaps over my head. Hillary, in my opinion, was a better choice for Obama - I think he would have this in the bag by now - for sure! I know this is totally against what everyone else thought, but it’s my opinion and I think I’m entitled to that. I know there were bad feelings between them (politics), but when all was said and done - he was our nominee and he knew that. The last piece to his puzzle was to find a running-mate to compliments him. Hillary will do what’s best for the party (always has), it’s just ironic that those who hated (totally despised) her are just now seeing that.

I really appreciate your honesty. I remember the second term of Bush came around and I was in college. When we were discussing politics, some of my christians friends was coming down on me hard for wanting to vote for Kerry. All the kept saying was “you’re gonna vote for someone who supports gay marriage and abortions and call yourself a christian” It was terrible to hear them say “I’d rather go to war or even deal with the draft” before gays are allowed to marry because that is a sin. It was crazy. I’m not a fan of the whole gay marriage or abortion thing, but I’m no God and have no room to judge them. That’s between them and God in my book. Now those same people that argued me down are the same ones talking about how gas prices sky rocketed and how the economy is so terrible. To me McCain is the same as Bush. I actually chose to be an independent because there’s good and bads of both parties. My vote is for Obama on this one though. This is based on policies between the two candidates. Both of these political parties are using what is called “religion” to manipulate the minds of the people. Obama and McCain feign spirituality and devotion to the Most High because the powers that be know that America is falling because of it’s evil. They also know that as dumb as the people are, even the average American knows America is falling. What they do is play both sides of the fence in regards to the Most High’s Word and make the people who think that they believe in the Lord and “family values” think that they have an option, outlet, or representative for their views. This is why you have black people that will vote, much less vote “Republican”. Both the so-called “Republicans” and the so-called “Democrats” are advocates of hom*sexual marriage, abortion, etc. America and the powers that control it need things like abortion because the killing of babies is necessary as a sacrifice to the higher satanic forces that keep America afloat. All previous empires sacrificed children to keep their reign alive and America is no different. If believers in the Most High’s Word want an understanding as to why they shouldn’t get involved in politics, they should read Isaiah 32:5-8.

^ Really? Out of all the whining, hypocritical, hateful tactics and hat tricks that McCain has pulled out of his bag during all of this you have the nerve to talk about Obama? McCain seen his chances for the White house slipping away during Obamas Speech last Thursday…so what does McCain do? Make a last minute irresponsible choice picking Palin just to bring in the womans vote and disgrunted Hillary Clinton supporters…and your talking about Obama? McCain spent the majority of this campain whining about all the media attention Barack was getting and using his campainers as attack dogs with unnecessary antics simply because he had nothing else. He has done every and any little desperate thing to try to keep himself in this race, including going as low as trying to use Baracks campain method of “CHANGE” and tried to make it his own during his speech lastnight…he has been in Washington for over 25 years…how can he talk about “change” when he has been part of the problem? This is also the same man that during hurricane katrina, was photograughed having cake with Bush as the rest of the world watched New Orleans drown. He is 72 years old, I think it is safe to say he is pretty much set in his ways. So please give everyone a break.
As far as Hillary, she was already going to campain for Barack before all this… as I am sure he would have campained for her. I’m tired of people acting as if he was obligated to make her his VP simply because they were running mates. I like Hillary, but she lost! Would she had made Barack her VP if he lost? Probaly not, but who knows. Unlike McCain..Barack actually did the responsible thing by thinking things out and picking a VP that actually fits his needs and what is best for the country if anything happens to him during his tenture as president (god for bid). People accused Barack for not having enough experience..so what does he do? He goes and gets a VP with 20 years experience who specializes in international affairs (including negotiations with world leaders and war which is one of Barcks weaknesses). Hillarys stans need to get over, it if they (or you) really cared about the nations best interrest and not simply just Hillary they would make the right decision regardless of gender. And how do people know that Barack won’t pick Hillary to be apart of his over all team in the white house office (like a Condeliza Rice type role)? Exactly.
Im neither a Democrat or Republican, i’m an independent voter…so I am open minded and at the beggining of this was simply not ready to vote for Barack simply because he’s black.. or Hillary simply because she’s a woman.. or McCain because he’s a war hero…I wanted to hear what they had to say. McCain turned me off with all his whining and the continued talk of war and drilling holes all over the planet, and not enough talk about the other important issues…I did not like the negative tone of his campain and the antics that he pulled these past few weeks with this Palin pick just to try to bring in woman voters has completely turned me off. His pick has not only made me question his choices, but his agenda. He picked this woman simply to try to bring in woman to vote, not because she was qualified enough (which is dangerous for Americans should something happen to him)…that is insulting. Now all of a sudden they are trying to steal Hillarys logic of cracking the “18 million cracks in the ceiling”, as if this is supposed to be about woman impowerment…keep in mind this is the same man that voted against women getting equal pay for equal work. Plus, Palin stands against anything Hillary stands for so i’m trying to figure out how they thought she could bring in Hillarys voters… unless they were voting for Hillary simply because she’s a woman. They have stolen both Barack and Hillarys campain messages simply because THEY don’t have one of there own. His campain has been a circus of HYPOCRISY, BIGOTRY, DECEPTION and LIES, i’m over it.
Barack will be getting my vote not because he is black…because I like his views and appreciate his vision of the way he wants the country to go. Also, I appreciate the fact that he has tried to run his campain the RIGHT way, thinking about what America needs first and not just about himself. I like the positive tone he has set throughout all of this and like the message he is trying to send. If people disagree with him on his issues..fine, but I am sick and tired of people trying to bring this man down and mocking him for actually trying to do something POSSITIVE with America and trying to get us back in good standings not only as a country but with other countries as well (something Bush has also jacked up during his tenture as President). So enough already, what Barack is doing with Hillary is a counter attack…its politics. And i’m glad he did it. I now truely beleive that Barack truely wants to send this country in the RIGHT direction. Do I beleive that all of his policies will work… I don’t know…but I belive in HIM.

No, “Judah” is just a name I use on this site. I’m born and raised in the Bronx, so no, that wasn’t me. Lol. Isaiah 32:5-9 is using the parable of the “liberal” (the Democrats) and the “churl” (the Republicans). Isaiah 32:6 breaks the Democrats down to a tee. It notes how they speak with “hypocrisy” and “utter error against the Lord” (promotion of hom*sexuality/lesb*anism/gay marriage/abortion/etc.). This is why the verse states that they “make empty the soul of the hungry”. These guys have black people thinking that they’re going to help them, or that they’re putting forth doctrines to enlighten the black community and they are just being left even more in darkness. To be “churlish” is to be “boorish” or “uncouth”. This is why the Republicans don’t mince words or make false promises to black people. Notice the scripture states that they “devise wicked devices to destroy the poor”. That’s why “Republican” is the party of choice for the monetarily elite.
