Oprah Winfrey, who was recently named the most generous celebrity, is using her clout to stop child predators.
Monday’s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show was dedicated to U.S. Senate Bill 1738, the Protect Our Children Act.
Winfrey, who was a victim of child abuse, testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in support of a national database of convicted child abusers in 1991. In 2005, she launched the “Oprah’s Child Predator Watch List” and pledged a $100,000 reward per case for information leading to the arrest of fugitives featured on her show and Web site.
Nine of the featured fugitives have been captured.
RANGEL’S TAX PROBLEM
Charles Rangel, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, which writes the nation’s tax code, is having problems with his own taxes.
He allegedly failed to pay federal taxes on rental income from a Dominican Republic villa he owns, and since he leads the House committee responsible for the federal tax code, failure to pay his taxes could be politically devastating with many calling for his resignation.
While it is a federal crime to willfully fail to pay taxes, prosecutors and tax lawyers say the crime is rarely prosecuted when the amounts involved are relatively small. His lawyers say he owes “a modest amount” to the federal government for unpaid taxes over the last five years.
I hope Obama wins…I’m coming from Spain, but anyway, who’s the president of the USA is something important for anyone in the world. And I think Barack Obama is the best one to give each person the rights he/she deserves.

I think that we all need to take a look at this bill. This bill calls for the INS to shift it’s man power and it don’ t tell the true price tag of this bill. ( 15 per American person in population) I know it’ an emotional issue but if it is signed into law and it’s not effective to combat then we would just be wasting money. As much as they are asking for this bill does not include a overhual of all exsiting child exploitation, and child obscenity and pornography. This just touches on the the internet. It makes no mention in working with the FCC. The outside sounds good but the inside needs work.
Please dont rely on Oprah to give you the full story read up on the bill. This bill is is Sponsored by Biden and co sponsored by a few others to include Obama so I’m sure she will try to be objective, but I doubt she will.
