Solange Knowles has been hitting up various events in Milan, Italy these past few days for their annual fashion week. She is pictured above posing with Giorgio Armani at the Katy Perry Showcase At D&G showroom on Monday in Milan.
The singer also hit up the Giorgio Armani – MFW Womenswear Spring/Summer show and the Emporio Armani showcase. As the official Armani Jeans ambassador, it must be nice!

Ok. First thing. Solange’s CD is widely accepted by critics mainstream and underground. She has created a HUGE buzz for herself. For the dumbass that said “I decided” didn’t get airplay at all, that is a LIE. Her single was #1 on the Billboard Dance charts and #1 on the R&B Singles sales charts and #1 on another sales chart (I forgot which one). Secondly, Solange knows that she probably wouldn’t be where she is if it weren’t for her sister. Duh….it’s obvious. If Beyonce didn’t make it with Destiny’s Child, we wouldn’t be talking about any of them. Solange got her BMI publishing deal BY HERSELF, she wrote and cowrote her albums (Both of them) BY HERSELF.
@ Chris, I don’t know where you get your info from, but Armani didn’t keep Solange because they don’t want Beyonce to stay. Wasn’t it reported that sales of that perfume weren’t that high anyway? If anything, they would’ve wanted to kick Beyonce off the campaign, but yet they hired Solange?
Solange’s album debuted at #9 on the Billboard Hot 200 charts, and #3 on the Billboard R&B charts. She’s gonna get her awards, and she is going to get her recognition in due time.She has written songs for Joss Stone, Beyonce, Kelly, Michelle, Trinity 5:7 and soon for much more people.

You STAN’s are so into Beyonce that you make up FACTS to allow your Queen to seem superior. Solange’s CD sold less than 40,000 copies the first week despite the buzz off the singles. Singles don’t sell’s CD’s and Solange’s CD got mixed reviews in many magazines. And even if it was a critical success (which it was not) it was clearly not a financial success. How it works “MY” is Solange as an artist borrows money for her two expensive videos and PR, and has to make that money up in CD sales and concerts which she failed to do. She is not considered a REAL artist because she did not even surpass 100,000 which is still poor sales despite the HUGE media push she received. So the fact of the matter is that despite how much you love her CD the public has panned the effort and moved on with a quickness.
As far as Armani is concerned any person with a brain knows that Armani only took on Solange for their “JEANS” was because of Beyonce who is a big star and who he wants to wear his dresses on the Red Carpet which she has done at a few high profile events. This is the only reason why Solange has been given this campaign. And if you want to challenge that can you tell me of the other sponsors like Armani that she has (that Beyonce does not have)? I know you can’t so don’t try to tell me about the business. I know about it because I work in it butthanks for your comments however they were very amusing.
And most people in the industry FYI laugh at the wasted amount of money spent on Solange when the industry is hurting as a whole. But that is something Matt will have to deal with. Nobody wants to lose money daughter or not.

If she comes out with a 3rd of 4th video, it is out of her own pocket. You have no idea how much money Solange makes when she does a performance and when she is on tour. She has been performing all over. You have NO IDEA how much money was spent on her promo. MUSICWORLD did the majority of her promotion. Geffen didn’t even have her on their website as an aritist on their roster until close to the album dropping. Most of the work came from Musicworld which is Matthew’s label. Solange was dropped from Columbia’s distribution list and was picked up by Geffen. As far as reviews go…you can go on metacritic (which is one of the MOST TRUSTED critic sites that lists ALL reviews of music and movies and MOST of her reviews were favorable). I did not want to pull a “I work for the industry card” but since you went there, I figured I would too. Like I said, the girl knows she is famous because of her sister, so you can rest that. And if she is not considered a REAL artist….WHY WOULD BMI SEEK HER AND GIVE HER A BIG BIG BIG Publishing deal??? You do know what this is and what it means…right? And believe me…Geffen thought she was going to sell LESS than what she actually sold and she surpassed their expectations. As little as the sales may seem…
And in addition…Chris. Beyonce hardly wears Armani on the red carpet. She almost ALWAYS wears House of Dereon. The only other designer that she usually wears is Roberto Cavalli who she had some sort of agreement with cause he styled some of her performance outfits when she went on her first tour.

MY…..you are a RIOT. And to be frank I like that you are doing something with your passion for music. Being an intern is a great way to get started but I’m a little beyond that stage and have a lot more experience than you. But I do respect some points of your argument but you are off on the bottom line. The bottom line is Solange sold poorly….PERIOD you can’t spin that FACT. If you want to say she sold 46,000 to my less than 40,000 comment I will give you that. But 46,000 is still POOR given all the publicity for this CD. And let’s be real most of the people who got the CD know Beyonce and that was a huge factor. And you are only repeating my comments about Geffen paying for her first two video’s because I said that already! Poor sales necessitate her having to pay for the next video. And I really doubt there will be a third video because her project is an official FLOP!
Also “MY”…. Beyonce wears Armani on the Red Carpet…she wore Armani at the Met Gala this past May and wore it for the Oscars and Many Many other times. The House of Dereon does not really make many red carpet looks that Beyonce wears but she does wear Armani a lot on the red carpet Events so you are wrong there.
Sorry when Solange sells more records we can call her a viable artist. Like say if she sold at least 175,000 copies the project would not be considered such a FLOP even though those are not great numbers but under 60,0000 is a TOTAL FLOP
I will also say that she did get some very positive reviews but she also got some poor reviews. Hence the comment MIXED reviews. To be frank if you had those TOP producers you would get some good reviews as well she still does not have a vocal identity YET!

I guess you can have this one Chris. I’ve made my point and you have made yours. I do know that things can turn around, so all people have to do is wait. Kid Rock’s album originally did poorly on the charts, and now it’s starting to become a big seller. It’s in the top ten this week after almost year on the charts (50 weeks). Same thing with Pink’s last album. everyone thought she flopped until “U+Ur hand” came out and it brought her album multiplatinum success and even her second single reappeared on the charts and charted in the top ten too (and people said she flopped).Same thing with India.Arie’s first album…she wasn’t selling that much at all, and when she got those 7 Grammy Nominations, that alone sent her sales up to 2 million copies.(people said she was a flop) And she had no commercially successful singles-maybe “video”. So it’s not only with Solange that I feel this way but with any artist, I NEVER give up on them too quickly because you never know what might happen. This business is unpredictable. So that’s why I defended the album and I haven’t named it a flop as of yet. When the era is absolutely dead with no more promo or released singles, and awards season is over… then I will agree with you and say it’s a flop
