Julian King, 7-year-old nephew of Jennifer Hudson, was shot twice in the head, according to autopsy reports. However, his time of death could not be specified.
King was found Monday in an abandoned white Suburban on the West Side of Chicago.
On Friday, William Balfour, 27, Julian’s stepfather and Julia’s estranged husband, was detained Friday as a person of interest. He was later transferred to prison on a parole violation. According to the Department of Corrections, he spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle.
No charges have been filed against anyone in connection with the slayings.
Balfour missed an appointment with his parole agent Friday because he was “babysitting”. He violated terms of his parole by possessing a weapon and failing to attend anger management class and a substance abuse program.
On Tuesday, Balfour’s mother, Michele Davis-Balfour, said her said had nothing to do with the slayings: “I’m sorry this happened to this girl’s family, but they’re not going to put it on my own son. He hasn’t been framed, but he’s been wrongly accused.”
She said after he got out of prison, William was trying to improve his life by working at a sandwich shop. She also said he obtained his GED in prison by studying horticulture and told Nancy Grace that William’s brother told her that William was with “one of his girlfriends” around the time of the killings.
Julia posted a message on her MySpace page thanking people for the support:
“His li’l soul is at ease, I take comfort in knowing that Julian is with my mother and my brother and most of all the Lord, and now he’s my angel, he’s protecting me. Now because I chose to do what was natural to me and love someone, it cost me my beautiful family, my wonderful beautiful loving supporting mother, Darnell, my true blue baby brother, Jason, I love u big baby … and last but never not least, my only son, Julian…I take comfort in knowing that Julian is with my mother and my brother and most of all the Lord and now he’s my angel, he’s protecting me“.

Being a father I cannot even begin to understand how can someone kill a 7 year old. That is just absolutely sad and disgusting at the same time. Where was God in all of this?

THEORY: i think Balfour and some DUMMY who killed the 7 yr old plan was messed up when Balfour got arrested as a person of interest. Balfour and his dummy partner probably thought he was going to black mail Jennifer Hudson for the money and return the child unharmed. However, when Balfour got arrested the dummy partner panic and killed that child. I would not be surprise if the autopsy later reveals that King was killed after Balfour was exposed as a person of interest. Think about it: If they really wanted to kill the child they would of done that at the residence where the other murders happened.
you have to be truly sick to kill a person, but you have reached a new level of sickness when you murder an innocent child. nobody deserves to be massacred the way this family was. it was just so cruel. i hope their is a sound conviction.

I understand that as a mother she loves her son but if she had an ounce of respect in her she would not have refferred to julia as “that girl” during a time like this. What a silly woman! I agree with whyaskwhy, that it might have been a kidnapping plan gone wrong. I hope that if it is the brother in law he would confess his role in this because there had to be at least two suspects to commit this crime.

The chicago police better be working hard to find out who did this, they need to be checking dna samples on the bodies etc! Who are we to judge Julia. She said that her loggin on to myspace the first time was a plea to get her child back. People grieve differently. If this is her way of grieving by honoring her child on her myspace let her.

Precious little Julian was found on the West Side of Chicago, not the South side. The location where he was found was coincidentally not too far from where William Balfour’s girlfriend lives. Whoever the murderer was obviously knew the child, and the child knew them.
On another note: Reading the comment Jennifer’s sister wrote, (hate to say it) does look suspect. It’s as if she knew her family was in grave danger.
Who, in the right mind, who just lost their loving mother, brother, and sweet innocent child, would make time to get on Myspace and type those words? I know people handle grief differently, but their murders were too shocking and brutal to be able to sit and accept so soon that these loved ones are gone.

Ok, did anyone see the interview William’s mother did on Nancy Grace? It just absolutely amazed me at the level of anger she showed during that interview. I mean, I can understand if she THINKS her son is innocent but there is a more tactful way of handling the types of questions being asked that people would like to know. I mean she was yelling, talking over Grace and all. It’s usually the other way around but it just disgusted me how she tried to portray this family as being a bit dysfunctional without saying it verbatim. I mean 3 generations have been wiped off the earth and all you can do is talk about your son being smart and getting his GED etc!! Also, watch how quiet his mother got when Nancy asked which girlfriend William was with the night of the murders. It has also been revealed that on the day of the murders, William missed his appointment to see his Parole Officer but called the Parole Officer later that night (same night of the murders) and made up something. Also, I am still praying for the strength of the Hudson family and know their faith in God will be the ONLY thing to pull them through this horrific period in their lives. They both need to cling onto each other and the Lord and stay on those knees and look up in prayer!

I too agree with whyaskwhy. On a personal note, I went to school with J Hud on Chicago’s Southside. She was such a normal and humble person. I remember when we sat in class and laugh and helped each other with homework. I cried for Jen and my heart sunk when I heard the news on Friday. Now, I am mad as f@#$. This is really a shame. He will have to answer to the almighty, rest-2-sure.

Actually that theory makes no sense. If the goal was to kidnap Julian King, then Balfour wouldn’t have wanted Julia’s mother and brother killed in the process. There were other ways to get to Julian, than to kill his grandmother and uncle.
That just doesn’t make sense, once the bodies of a populer woman and young man in the community were found shot to death, William Balfour would’ve had no re-course whatsoever, no bargaining power. What was to be gained out of a methodically flawed plan to extort money from Jennifer?
Plus, lets face it. This cat is the kind of dude that is a thug, who goes by the name “Flex” who is used to women taking care of him — he keeps himself physically fit because his physique is just about all he has to offer anyone.
My theory is that when Jennifer’s mom kicked him out of the home, he felt slighted and outsed from a family on the come-up, in which he may actually have gotten somewhere in life. Maybe he thought one day he’d be one of J.HUD’s bodyguards or something and actually legally make a good salary. But upon breaking up with Julia, those dreams were crushed and he snapped.
ALSO: Look at the common thread here, it is not Jennifer Hudson per se, because Jennifer is not Julians mother, and theoretically if it were Jennifer then the boy’s death would have been extremely unneccessary. This is related to Julia Hudson, they killed HER MOTHER, HER BROTHER and HER SON.
William is involved without a doubt, but I agree he wasn’t alone. I believe this was more about revenge, not money.

What I want to know is when Julian was killed? was it before or after he got arrested on Friday? I also refuse to believe that the truck Julian was found in was parked in that neighborhood all that weekend. There were amber alerts on every expessway in Chicago, on the news and on radio and nobody in that neighborhood noticed the car until Monday morning?? That’s bull, somebody parked that car there that morning or Sunday night.
There is definitely more than one person involved, I’ve been saying this for a couple of days now and Chicago Tribune just confirmed that the police thinks so too..I don’t know if William killed Julian but I believe he did kill Jennifer’s Mom & Brother….

On Nancy drew, willaims mother called up and said that she told william that julia had planted drugs in williams car so that he would get arrested, because julia was jealous that william had 2 other girlfriends!
Clearly the mother has been adding fuel to fire throughout the relationship. She also mentioned that william has two brothers, who claim that william was with his girlfriend the day of the murders (friday) This could indicate that william and his brothers planned the murders together as a way of getting revenge on julia because they thought she set him up! Thats my theory!!
I remove my opinon about them giving the person the death penalty. I know think that whoever killed Hudson’s family needs to be put in jail. Better yet…put em’ in Sing Sing or the big correctional facility in California. Believe me…the FBI and police departmemt can make a choice – if they want to on where somone should be detained. I’m sure there are inmates in there that are ticked off about the little boy being harmed. I’m SURE they would love to meet the individual who took pride in such a CHILDISH and EVIL act. #51 While I found Julia’s logging in to myspace the day of the murders and while her son was still missing, I do believe he killed them…him alone. I think he went to the house and told the baby to get in the car..maybe he told him they were leaving…He did this because he knew an adult would run to the other adult’s aid but a child would likely run out of the house for help. I think he shot the Darnell and Jason and then went out to the car where the baby was waiting and killed him that day, leaving him in the car…
It’s what I was thinking..I know it’s doubtful that he could walk in and telll the baby to get in the car when they were all mad at him and he no longer lived with them but it;s the only thing that makes sense. Unless he planned this whole thing and convinced some idiot that they could get a ransom for the kid and because the thing went viral and so many people were tuned in so fast (I even read on his page a comment left by one of his friends: “I hope you didn’t kill them”) he just killed the baby..

This a very tragic and sensitive case. My heart and prayers go out to tha husdon and king family. I watched tha nancy grace interview last night and i agree that Balfour’s mom was coming on a too strong. If you going to do an interview trying to clear your child’s name dont ignore questions and start talking about somethin absolutely different. I have my opinion about what i think might happened but ima keep it too myself instead of throwin it out here and causing more unecessary problems. I pray tha police find tha person(s) that did this and give them tha punishment they deserve. But only God can really punished them for what they did.
I only have one more thing to say, why would you marry someone or let someone live with you if they already had an attempted murder charge? Thats crazy.

I’m tired of speculating…I do think it is more to this story than we, the public, are being told. IMO, if they had evidence, than Balfour would have already been charged. His mother brought up some interesting points on Nancy Grace, including accusing the brother, Jason, of selling drugs. It seems that the police don’t have much evidence yet…and that it is more than an average thug(William) can pull off. A lawyer on the show also pointed out how is the suspect able to kill the mother and brother, steal the truck and son, kill him, and leave the truck(only to not be discovered until Monday) without anyone seeing anything? William missing parole appointments and no alibi is suspicious as well. This whole story seems to have some loopholes. I just pray that the police get the right person(s) and soon.

I can’t overlook the fact that you have a serious criminal past (personally, I am not going to overlook a minor criminal past). For me, it comes down to choosing the safety of my child over the POSSIBILITY that something like this could happen because of who I choose to associate with. And then as a woman, the same applies. She could have easily been among those who were killed. Women can’t be afaid to say “I can’t have this person around me because of what they MAY be capable of doing”, I don’t care if you have feelings for someone, I don’t care for anyone more than I care for my child and my family so if that means I have to be by myself, so be it.
William Balfour’s mother is never going to believe he is guilty of these crimes, she has an excuse ready for every question about his involvement – but I think time is going to show that he is responsible and possibly someone else as well. You don’t threaten to kill someone’s family and then they all happen to turn up dead. Only the worst kind of person could do this to a child, to anyone and there ain’t no kind of hope for that person, they need to be put right where they belong, in hell.
