POLITICAL CANDIDS: OBAMA / PALIN / GWEN / MCCAIN / BUSH / CONDI
Thursday, October 2, 2008

US Democratic presidential candidate Illinois Senator Barack Obama holds up a Michigan State jersey given to him during a rally on Thursday, October 2, at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin arrives with and her husband Todd Palin at the Flagstaff, Arizona airport where she is boarding her campaign plane for the trip to St Louis, Missouri. Palin will face-off with her Democratic counterpart Joe Biden in the Vice-Presidential Debate tonight (October 02).

PBS journalist Gwen Ifill, moderator of the vice presidential debate, is wheeled into the Washington University debate site Thursday, October 2, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Ifill has become the controversial moderator of the vice-presidential debate, because she wrote an essay in Time magazine that identified her as the author of a coming book, ‘The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.’ Ifill broke her ankle September 27 after falling in her home.

Republican presidential nominee, Arizona Senator John McCain, arrives at his campaign headquarters Thursday, October 2, in Arlington, VA. McCain is scheduled to travel to Denver later in the day.

U.S. President George W. Bush leaves the Eisenhower Executive Office Building with Eddie Lazear, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, after a meeting with business leaders on the economic rescue package Thursday in Washington, DC. The $700 billion plan was passed by the Senate on October 1 and goes up for a vote in the House of Representatives on October 3.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice speaks with Her Excellency Dr. Kinga Gonzc, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary during a bilateral meeting at the US State Department in Washington, DC earlier this week.

Obama just looks like an approachable guy! Some people have people you need to see before you get to the man in charge he seems like the guy that just cut the middle man come str8 to me if you have any problems!
Palin looks so fiesty… like a weekend swinger and party animal that chugs Miller Lite with hubby! They look fun but not white house material.
They are making such a big deal about this moderator and taking things out of context… it has been no secret that this woman has been working on her book for years and also she has over black leaders mentioned such as congressman and mayors in the book so it’s not about Obama specifically don’t be swayed by the media about the content of the book….
McCain looks like if you invite him over he’ll fall asleep from exhaustion… just pray he doesn’t fall on the red button if he makes it in office..lol.. which he won’t..I’m just saying..lol..
Condoleeza looks like she has on medical stockings and like someone needs to flip her wig back… she needs a stylist and a fun day! lol.. she made me clench my jaw cuz she looks so tense

Wow, Sarah Palin is so pretty. Honestly, she has a really nice face, I’ve always thought so but she looks better with her hair down.
What is the Obama’s 4,425,743,221 shirt? I mean honestly, it’s great but all that extra cloth used to make those gazilllions of Obama T-Shirt’s could’ve kept all of africa warm for the next 4 years. I’ll pass.
(I know all of you will hate me for this BUT I will be the odd ball and dare say this….) Something about President Bush is too cute. He is attractive to me. Especially when he was younger..whoooo..

Sarah Palin looks like the type of Mom who wheres her apron around the house, and has a bowl of cookies with wilk waiting on the table for her kids, including the grown ass ones, to come running off that yellow school bus too. And the type of my Mom who pulls up to Dunkin’ Donuts each morning to get an ice coffee berfore she goes to work, IF she works, and has her car smelling like a Febreeze factorty. The Mom who glues on all the elements for a school project, puts their kids homework in their bags, has dinner prepared before lunch arrives, has every sport sign sticker on the bumper of her chrysler minivan….you know, like every white Mom. But to be in an office….yeah, about that. I still love her regardless.

@ Ms. M - Why is it your (or anyone else’s business) who is taking care of Governor Palin’s kids? What do most working women do with their kids? Or women who have lots of work related travel? Do you wonder who takes care of the children of your favorite celebrity when they are globe trotting for work or pleasure? Or is that question only reserved for people with whom you part ways politically?

Hello people, Ifill wrote a book entitled “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama” know correct me if I am wrong but if I see a book with obana in the title, the book should be about Obama or the era of. Now he has not won yet and only been in the Senate for 3 yrs ( not an era by any defintion) so what is the book about if not about Obama.
@pete
You are so right about michigan , they vote for that man twice. Once ok, but number two was to keep a white man from winning. Even though he was the better choice. Hey dosent that sound like DC, we will never learn

I hope this debate goes off the way it should tonight. Palin has proven in the past interviews that she cannot answer questions with straight answers, and it will be a sad day if she does have a microphone in her ear, that will just show the incompetent person she has proved to be in the past. I hope tha Biden exposes her. Get past the looks and realize what is really at stake here.

I’ll catch it on YouTube! Anywho, I think everyone looks nice.
Hey folx, make sure you encourage all your friends and family to register to VOTE! I’m taking my mom to the poll myself! No excuses!! Time out for sitting on the sideline and watching from the stands! Get in the GAME…;AMERICA needs YOU!
Palin is an attractive woman but that alone will not win her votes. It however was clever strategy on the Republican side to put a woman in the VP bid. Anywho….

sooo the VP debate just ended annnnnd, though i am a HUUUGE obama supporter, i must say that sarah palin redeemed herself after the mess that was the katie couric interview. HOWEVER… she STILL failed to answer the tough questions and it seemed like she rehearsed what she was going to say before-hand. shiiid, she might as well of had an earpiece.

The debate is over now and I just hope that our people register to vote and actually go vote, this is the most important election in history. Palin did do a better job that I originally expected, but she still talked around certain issues, while Biden stuck to the facts and shared specific ideas on how to get this country out of the mess that Bush made of this country. GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BIDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get out and vote people becuse every vote is going to count. See you at the polls.

Okay I know this is completely off topic, but a must read:
“McKinney Accuses Government of Slaughtering Prisoners, Dumping Bodies During Katrina”
Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, known for her provocative statements when she was a congresswoman from Georgia, accused the Department of Defense this week of using Hurricane Katrina to cover up the slaughter of 5,000 prisoners.
At a news conference in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, McKinney claimed the Pentagon authorized the execution of the prisoners with one bullet to the head three years ago and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp.
McKinney said she heard the story from the mother of a National Guard soldier who said her son was assigned to help dispose of the bodies.
“And these were mostly males and her son was afraid to talk because he had signed a silence agreement,” McKinney told the crowd. “So he only complained to his mother. But the data was entered into a Pentagon computer.”
McKinney said she verified the story from “insiders” who wanted to remain anonymous.
“I suspect that these are prisoners. … So this investigation of the whole prison industrial complex is extremely important and it should not end with just a question of the nature of prisons in our country,” she said to a captivated audience. “These 5,000 souls also need some justice too.”
A Defense Department spokesman dismissed McKinney’s accusation.
“The claim is outrageous on the very face of it and doesn’t merit any further consideration,” said Lt. Col. Les’ Melnyk. “It would be inconceivable that 5,000 people would go missing in America without anyone noticing it prior to this.”
Psychologists and psychology professors contacted by FOXNews.com wouldn’t comment on McKinney’s mental condition, but they expressed shock at her assertion.
“Wow! What a conspiracy theory,” one professor exclaimed before declining comment and hanging up the phone.
Dr. Celia Ward, a clinical psychologist in Washington, D.C., said she wouldn’t speculate on McKinney’s state of mind because McKinney heard the story from someone else.
“This sounds like a game of telephone,” Ward said, explaining how a rumor can change as it passes from one person to another. “But to take something that has so many questions attached to it and to treat a rumor as fact is the basis for mass distortion. It’s really a good example of Swift-boating.”
Ward said McKinney could have easily verified the story by checking prison records.
“This is the kind of rumor that warrants fact-checking,” she said.
McKinney’s presidential campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
A member of the House for 12 years until 2007, McKinney is no stranger to controversy. Shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, she suggested that President Bush knew about the plot in advance but failed to warn Americans because of his father’s business interests. Some political analysts say that statement contributed to her defeat in 2002.
After McKinney was re-elected in 2004, she tried to impeach Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on charges that they lied and manipulated intelligence to justify the war in Iraq.
McKinney hit a career low point in 2006 when she was accused of striking a Capitol Police officer who grabbed her after she passed a security checkpoint without wearing a congressional lapel pin. She later apologized for the incident. She was defeated in a Democratic primary later that year and left the Democratic Party in 2007. She was nominated in July to run for president on the Green Party ticket. There are 245 other Green Party candidates running for office this fall.

When people show you who they are please believe them! Sarah Palin’s response, (or should I say lack thereof), to Joe Biden’s emotional moment as he discussed his struggles as a single parent after the death of his wife and daughter was very revealing! While she parades her children around and plays the hockey mom/motherhood card every time she gets a chance, Joe displayed an authenticity and dedication to his family that Sarah Palin only wishes she inhabited.
With W. at the helm for the last 8 years, we have lost many of our fundamental righs, and a few IQ points! If you take a step back & look at this situation, you will quickly realize what a joke this election is! It’s time for us to wake up!
Actuaries have estimated that there is a one-in-four chance that John McCain may NOT survive his first term if he were elected President. He is 72 years old, has battled with an agressive form of melanoma cancer for many years, he will NOT release his medical records, and has recently displayed some disturbing facial afflictions (see: his left-eye). Not to mention probably suffers from a “touch” of post-traumatic syndrome from his time spent as a POW (i.e., his grumpy disposition, and obsession w/war). If it does not scare you that Sarah Palin could be a heartbeat away from the presidency, please watch Sarah Palin’s interviews w/Katie Couric!
And, quite frankly, we should be concerned about her relationship with our community. I found it totally disrespectful that tonight that she flat out stated that she would not answer moderator, Gwen Ifill questions! She did not refuse to answer Charlie Gibson or Katie Couric’s questions.
This contest is not about lipstick wearing pigs or Rev. Wright! These are distractions to divert our attention from the issues! We need to remain diligent in quest for knowledge, step away from the pundits and pop culture, stop relying strictly on the Mainstream Media for all our information (check out some of the foreign media outlets; they often report information about our country that we never hear about!), and wake up!
Our lives depend on it.
