POLITICS: BIDEN GETS REAL WITH NEWS ANCHOR / OBAMA VISITS AILING GRANDMOTHER + ENDORSEMENTS / AL-QAEDA ENDORSES MCCAIN

Monday, October 27, 2008

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden faced off with Florida news anchor Barbara West in an interview that many view as being right out of McCain’s playbook.

West began the interview asking if Biden was “embarrassed” by Barack Obama’s association with ACORN and then moved on to the claim that Obama wants to “spread the wealth”. Biden, frustrated and angered by West’s insidious questions, asked who was writing them and if the interview was real.

West expressed her thoughts on the interview in a call with the Orlando Sentinel:

“I have a great deal of respect for him. I have a great deal of respect for Sen. Obama. We are given four minutes of a satellite window for these interviews. Four precious minutes. I got right down to it and, yes, I think I asked him some pointed questions. These are questions that are rolling about right now and questions that need to be asked. I don’t think I was rude or inconsiderate to him. I think I was probing and maybe tough. I can’t believe that in all of his years in politics, and all of his campaigning and such, that he hasn’t run into some tough questions before. He’s certainly up to it in giving good answers.”

OBAMA VISITS AILING GRANDMOTHER + ENDORSEMENTS

On Friday, Barack Obama spent some time with his ailing grandmother, 85 year-old Madelyn Dunham, who helped raise him.

In his interview with Good Morning America, he noted the severity of her condition: “Without going through the details too much, she’s gravely ill. We weren’t sure, and I’m still not sure whether she makes it to Election Day. We’re all praying and we hope she does, but one of the things I want to make sure of is I had a chance to sit down with her and to talk to her. She’s still alert and she’s still got all her faculties. And I want to make sure that I don’t miss that opportunity.”

In related news, the New York Times endorsed Obama, saying “After nearly two years of a grueling and ugly campaign, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has proved that he is the right choice to be the 44th president of the United States.”

Additionally, the Anchorage Daily News also endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate, stating he “brings far more promise to the office”.

AL-QAEDA ENDORSES MCCAIN

An Al-Qaeda website posted a message that they would offer a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. to usher in a McCain presidency, according to the Huffington Post.

If Al-Qaeda wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue warring in Iraq and Afghanistan. The message stated:

“This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier. Then, al-Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush. If al-Qaeda carries out a big operation against American interests, this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it.”

I***************is this true about the al-Quaeda endorsement? It sounds bogus…..
******************Well regardless I’m rooting for Obama. HE has been campaigning HARD in the face of adversity for 2 years I’m a witness to that. I remember wishing the election was over in Jan of 2008 because of the over exposure. Kudos to New york times and Anchorage Daily news. That’s big. My prayers go out to the Barak and Dunham families at this time. I know it’s not about photo ops but I love how regular Obama looks in that pic. It just shows he’s real and he’s a family man. Forget the dark suit and red or striped blue and white tie for a moment and focus on what’s important. And WTG joe biden for checking that reporter LOL!

Joe Biden - He is no joke. You gotta respect the man. He’s not afraid to express and I think the way he delivered his response was very tactful. Especially because of the question. My thing is that the socialist policy really isnt that bad…. I wish we cold all see that.

Barack - Mad props to see him putting family first. In his simplicity, he is amazing. I like the toned town look!!!! Congrats in advance yo!

Al-Qaeda - Not surprised but Im a bit of a conspiracy theorist so this seems part of a bigger plan to me.

Man! Biden carried the mess out of that reporter! See I like him because he kept his cool he didn’t get all flabbergasted like McCain does and as ridiculous as the questions were he answered them thoroughly. Its so funny that the Anchorage Daily News, an ALASKAN paper, is endorsing Obama. That’s pretty telling if a leading paper in Palin’s home state won’t even endorse her and McCain.

AT #9 SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!

Everyone is not going to be into politics, following up every sigle thing these people say is the interest of the mass majority in the black community, so of course these kinds of post will not have 300 comments like Beyonce. You are so dumb and ignorant to make that comment. Of course our people are going to go out and vote, but right after that they have to go back on their jobs bust their ass working and struggle to their bills. Beyonce and celebs are an entertainment to young people where as polictic can be boring and pointless watching if you havent been following up on it constantly. Dammit, I hate when people make stupid comments like that. How can you compare beyonce to politics on a site that is for entertaining young people.

Anyway…..back to the video. WOW, love it love it love it love it. I love how Biden was quick on this tongue. He was very affective and real. You can tell these democrats candidates are real people. As rediculous as those questions were, he was able to answer them and make that lady look bad. lol

Thank you. I knew there was a reason I have such admiration and love for Senator Biden and this is why. Who cares about ACORN? Not the average John and Jane Doe. We care about the economy, the WAR, healthcare, and etc. And why not ask McCain the same question about “spreading the wealth”. He is the one that has umpteen cars at his disposal to Obama’s one car (which is a hybrid by the way) If you ask one candidate such questions, ask it to all

The Al-Qaeda thing is suspicious.

Apparently they know how tough John McCain would be on international affairs if he were elected President. He said it himself that he would “not be tested” because he’s been tested before, and he wants to hold it down in the war in the Middle East.

So how strange is it that Al-Qaeda is endorsing McCain, with the reason being “to exhaust America”, fully knowing that the majority of Americans are opposed to the war. They are further influencing voters towards Barack Obama … someone who wants to pull out.

Al-Qaeda wants us to pull out … and in a recent article, they’ve stated that when we do, they will “follow us home.”

… Highly suspect. Too strange.

This is one of the reasons I like Joe Biden. Yes, he’s known sometimes to have verbal diarrhea and he can be politically correct and give nuance answers but when time calls for it, he keeps it real. He speaks in common people tongue and he will let an interviewer know that he or she is full of shit.

I wish Obama’s granny lives to see him sworn in as president of the United States. I hope she sees her hard work and influences she’s instilled in Obama actually paid off in this historic way.

Hahaha…Do you think Al Qaeda doesn’t know that the hell they are doing? This is so funny. If they had come out and supported Obama, John McCain’s campaign would have a field day on this…”Oh, Obama pals around with terrorist now he has their support.” Good thing the Democrats aren’t that petty and won’t make this an issue.

I hate to say go Al-Qaeda.
But they do make a point. however who knows if this is just a “scare tactic”

On the interview w/ Joe Biden.
That woman just screams “I’m a republican ignorant”
How many times does the obama campaign have to talk about acorn.
I dont remember obama, walking w/ these Acorn employees telling them to pick up telephone books and go to he library and make up fakes names to fill up voting registrations. And they assume these “fake” people will actually show up w/ “fake” IDs to actually vote. Are you kidding me?
They need to drop it.

All these conservative television stations are scared and desperate.
I dont want to say Obama has won, even though the polls lean that way. It really depends on if people are actually going out and acting on their belief, but the mccain campaign are afraid. John is evening claimin himself an underdog, and that usually underdogs win.
Get over it.

Joe Biden is not an insipid, superficial bimbo like some other Vice presidential candidates who shall remain nameless, he has an informed, clear free thinking mind that allowed him to show her for the fraudulent card carrying republican she is!! Monday, October 27, 2008 /

I recognize the anchor woman, she’s from a news station her in Orlando. Everyone (reporters, radio and tv personalities) all wait for their time to make their mark when it comes to this election. There were lots of other important questions that she could have asked Joe Biden but chose not to. I respect Joe Biden the more for calling her out on her bad choice of questions. The media has been beating this “spread the wealth” quote around, and I’m sure she’s heard both Obama’s campaign’s response to this quoute..so why still pursue it? Especially if your gonna get the same answer?
I wish “journalists” would do their research, thoroughly before going into an interview with anyone. She might be a republican, or might be in pursuit of a big network job…either way I was very disappointed with her.

On this Al-Qaeda deal, isn’t interesting how McCain gets this endorsement and its overlooked or swept under the rug and we (the media) move on. But if someone with some kind of muslim ties or rumored ties endorses Barack Obama they scrutinize it to the last drop, and when someone respectable and credible as Gen. Colin Powell endorses Obama “endorsements are just endorsements they aren’t that affective at this stage in the election”….It bothers me, I could scream

Wow CL that AL-QAEDA post is a trip.
LOL to anyone who takes that seriously. Either McCain is like Bush or he is not. You guys have to make up your mind. I’m so sure that Bin Laden wont play with McCain. Now if some of you would take a look at what Bin laden is trying to do. They believe that all nation should fall under islam. No some, not just were they live, but ALL. America is seen as a Christian Nation ( no matter what you believe in Fact is Fact) because we support Isreal. Now Obama already has said he believes in talking. Yea Al- Qaeda whats a president that will fight with them, they would much rather fight with folks that like to talk. The foe of my foe is ny friend.

Like I have been saying When you are the president you have to look out for all Americans. Not just the poor one or the Middle class. They asked tough question. They question were not really answered but hey it Biden, and he been like that for 20 years and that is part of the reason he never makes pass the primaries when running for president. Every year Obama has been in the US Senate he has earmarked funds for ACORN. And that find if the people of Chi town are fine with that. These are questions that have come up on both side and they arent being answered.
Now what I think is funny is the fact that biden hasnt read the platform. The tax breaks will help the lower class. That is how it is designed. His target is not the Middle Class. Obama has never been asked what his plan will not do nor was biden asked what the VP does.. Now that we are comming closer to the end it’s time out for the baby questions. People like Obama (not Biden so much) but they want to know about the shadows. Dont be surprise if his birth, books, Rev Right, and few other things ( there are a host of issues starting from Harvard on up It’s not gong to make a difference to me because I voted)

This reporter is delirious. She told the paper Biden must have thought the questions were too tough. Ummm no he thought the answers to your questions were obvious. Anyone with common sense hearing the quotes she mentioned would know the intended meanings. The fact that she tried to push interpretations of the meanings any other way made her look incompetent. I would have asked, “Who wrote these questions?” too!

And what is up with people harping on Obama for previously working for ACORN? Innocent people used to work for Enron. Should they be blacklisted in their next job search because of Ken Lay’s actions? @#28. The 2008 election is 10x more important than making 500+ comments, and under different usernames, obsessing over a wealthy, overhyped bitch who in reality probably doesn’t give a rats ass about her stans. Maybe if you guys didn’t spend so much time obsessing over Beyawnce, you’d actually notice how important this election truly is, and start paying more attention. The same goes for Rihanna stans.

Hmmm. For some reason I thought NYT already endorsed a candidate. It’s great that they endorsed Senator Obama. Hahaha @ an Alaska paper endorsing him as well. I guess that’s a slap in the face for Palin.

Obama’s grandmother is obviously a very strong woman. Lets just all hope that she not only live to see her grandson make history, but live on afterwards, as well.

That news anchor is a complete joke. Biden made a good point. Was her answers straight from the McCain campaign? The bitch is a straight up ditz.

Al Queda endorsed McCain? I don’t buy that story, but it’s a good thing that this news didn’t come out about Obama. It’s already bad enough that fools in the country actually believe the man is a terrorist.

I live in Orlando and haved watched Barbara West for years.
The local news here, especially her station, is such a joke.
Most of the big lead stories are about pet rescues, the weather, shopping,
or the “local” angle on national news.
She’s definitely a “softball” reporter on every scale so I was suspect
when I heard those kinds of questions coming out of her mouth.
Since I used to work for a GOP organization, I said to my wife, “it sounds
like (the guys I used to work for) wrote her questions. Turns out I was right.
That, and the fact that her husband is a Republican political consultant (that’s another name for lobbyist). Biden was so on point! And still a gentleman.

i too hope that obama’s grandmother can live to see him become president….either way she will see it because i believe in heaven and our family lookin down on us and looking after us but thats me

At first, I thought CL meant financial endorsement. I instantly assumed I was gonna read some BS that McCain isn’t being penalized for that but I’m happy that wasn’t the case. Altho, I’m not happy I’m confused. I’m confused because I don’t know if they are using reverse psychology or if they are serious. Either way, both choices can have VERY bad outcomes for our country so that made me more worried regardless. LOL thanks a lot CL (rolls eyes but laughs)! Moving on, Obama finally looks like regular. I feel if I was running for office, I would take that direction a lot more than most. Why; because some ppl want a person in office… not a suit. Oh and to #28, maybe you need to STFU too! How can you point out the flaws with our youth while pushing it aside? How dare you speak as if our youth shouldn’t be interested in politics! Politics is only “boring” when it doesn’t related to you OR when you’re ignorant enough to not understand it. WHAT THE F**K is good about either of those two choices (especially since this election RELATES TO EVERYONE)? Child please, don’t BS because our country does enough of that sh*t and that’s why there are more comments on unimportant celebs vs. people who actually make a damn difference in the world.

@ Im buying a new name:

You are so right. Look back at the voting promo video that CL posted just a few days ago. 17 damn comments on the biggest election of our lives thus far. And look at the Sasha Fierce damn post! 300+ comments. Modern day coonery. Niggas talk like they want change, let’s see if they want to be about change too.

lol you know the Republicans are breaking their necks trying to downplay that Al-Q endorsement.

Americans need to get over the fact that America isn’t this top notch empire anymore and that other countries are doing what we can’t do - a lot better and a lot more efficiently. What’s wrong with using another country to model one of our institutions after?
RWingers have and will always use scare tactics to get support, like throwing the word “socialist” and “Marxist” around in a room full of people who don’t know what those ideals mean.

lol@anchorage endorsement.

PLEASE ...Help Me Understand

Monday, October 27, 2008 /

Yawl….. I just heard that an assassination plot was foiled by the FBI. The two fools that call themselves “neo nazis” were planning to kill 102 black students (decapitation) in Tennessee and then go after more blacks and then finally to Obama:

http://www.reuters.com/ar...One/idUSTRE49Q7KJ20081027

Now… whoever is behind this….. must have been on a bullhorn sharing this killing shit with the media. Cause it never got off the ground. Now this makes me think about the old JIM CROW days when the Klan would go on a ghostly clad ride of terror into the night and scare or kill the shit outta black folks so that they would not vote? This afternoon’s “neo-news” sure feels like old JIM CROW to me.

We cannot let tactics like this sway us — whether we strive for being a businessman/woman, scientist, or even the president. We as a people of many colors have had ancestors who were bullied and buried at the price of having a voice. We are the new generation brought up on their blood. Please let’s not take it for granted. The JIM CROW years were really not that long ago…..our country has changed and that’s because of the bravery that so many have shown before us……. Still, as this “neo-news” spreads, its evident that some areas of our country is still sore and does not want to be healed.

Please get out and vote. If you are for McCain —- then fine…..vote. If you are for Obama, that’s fine too…. get your ass out and vote…… Whatever you do, don’t sit home and take your voice, your choice for granted. We’ve come a long way. Make sure that your voice is heard and counted.

Now pardon me…. cause I tend to ramble….. But this “assassination talk” brings me to the final point…… why is that AMERICA is always quick to tell other countries how to handle the business of justice and democracy, when right here in our own back yard, we have sooo many issues and challenges going on???

I’m shaking my head and wondering will there ever be a day that our country will get over all this shit about skin, sex and religion and just sing our song.

Way to get her Biden. She tried to get you and she made herself look like an idiot. And to foreigners who have a problem with the number of posts on political stories, at the end of the day all that matters is that we get to the polls and VOTE like I did today. Thats how we REALLY express our political concerns. Not how much we shoot our mouths on an entertainment blog site. Get a life…

That anchor’s husband is a political strategist who happens to be a Republican so we all know where she got her questions from. She’s basically a mouth peice for the Republican party. Biden handled her so well! I love how he asked if the questions were real. It’s like he was thinking “is she serious right now”?

First he’s a Socialist now he’s a Marxist? Even though a hybrid of socialism wouldn’t be a bad idea for the US, those two words scare Americans because they remind us of The Soviet Union. They purposely identify Obama with those theories to deter people from voting for him, just like they associate his name with being Muslim. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Al-Qaeda is smart, obviously they aren’t endorsing McCain. They’re doing reverse psychology to scare people into voting for Obama. They want the the U.S out of their region. They know that McCain like Bush is trigger happy and that if he wins the US will stay in the Middle East to keep those Oil Reserves on lock, which is why we went into war with them in the first place. “Building up the Middle East” is a front just to keep us there.

J. Dakar can you please post that embarassing display of bafoonery that CNN aired last night, i.e. DL Hugley’s new show.

I know I’m not the only one who was embarassed and offended at the nonosense D.L Hugley took part in. He’s become puppet for what the white man wants to say but can’t for obvious reasons so they go hire an ingnoramus who gladly jumps at the change once they flashed those dollar signs in his face.

KIA would u rather have a job or just get an Obama 1,500 check in the mail or alittle bit bigger of a wellfair check? I’d rather have a secure Job with benifits and such!! And to say McCain is Ignorant fuck he served this country for over 10 years to help keep this country safe what has Obama done for this country? ohh I forgot he was a community organizer really special!!!! Ohh Wait He help a corupt company called ACORN!! and went to a complete racist’s church Rev. Wright and worked wit a terrorist Bill Ayers!! he did a lot for this country?!! lol
