POLITICS: DEBATE #2 / MCCAIN CRITICIZES OBAMA / THE KEATING CONNECTION

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain are ready to face off again in their second presidential debate, Tuesday night at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.

In a Town Hall, all questions will come from the audience or the internet, not the moderator, Tom Brokaw. Each candidate will have two minutes to respond to each question, and following those initial responses, the moderator will invite the candidates to respond to the previous answers, for one minute, ensuring that both candidates receive an equal amount of time to comment.

The debate begins at 9pm ET, and will broadcast on major networks ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, in addition to cable news channels such as C-SPAN, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.

MCCAIN CRITICIZES OBAMA

On Monday, Republican presidential nominee John McCain offered his harshest criticism yet of Democratic rival Barack Obama.

At a campaign rally, McCain, who’s been behind in the polls for a few days, took offense to Obama’s accusation that McCain opposed regulation that would have prevented the credit crunch: “I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed.”

He also mentioned:

“You need to know who you’re putting in the White House — where the candidate came from and what he or she believes. And you need to know now, before it is time to choose.

There are essential things that we don’t know about Sen. Obama or the record he brings to this campaign.

An Obama campaign spokesman, Tommy Vietor, called McCain a “truly angry candidate” who is trying to divert attention from the economy. He added that in 2007, Obama warned of the subprime mortgage crisis now blamed for the troubling financial industry. Vietor said McCain has been consistent in calling for less regulation, “proving that he hasn’t learned any lessons from the last banking scandal he was involved in.”

That was in reference to Charles Keating, a savings and loan financier and McCain campaign contributor and friend who was convicted of securities fraud. In the late 1980s, just months into his Senate career, McCain made what he considered “the worst mistake of my life” by participating in meetings with banking regulators on behalf of Keating. McCain was cited for a lesser role than other senators’ relationships with Keating, but was noted for his “poor judgment”.

THE KEATING CONNECTION

Sen. Barack Obama has launched a multimedia campaign to draw attention to the involvement of Sen. John McCain in the “Keating Five” savings-and-loan scandal of 1989–91. The campaign includes a website, KeatingEconomics.com, and a 13-minute documentary on the scandal, seen above.

Years of deregulation and neglect by the state, just to keep the “free market” in tact has finally hit every single one of them in the face! The sad thing is that the same proponents of laissez-faire are still willing to continue it, despite the dire conequenes it’s already brought to the economy. Even sadder is the fact that the average Joe suffers the most.

You can just feel the desperation over there with Palin and McCain. Its just like he doesn’t have a leg to stand on so he’ll pull something out of his ass. Palin bringing up Rev Wright just really confirms it. She wonders why they aren’t talking more about that? Is she serious. Maybe because they beat it to death for long enough when the news first broke! Its really sad to see them resort to such low tactics, but not suprising in the least. But I’m just going to say it…..I cannot stand that Palin…..lady (I’ll go with the nice version of what I’m really wanting to call her)

And isn’t anyone else SICK AND TIRED of hearing Republicans (and ESPECIALLY Sarah Palin) with their pandering to “hockey moms” and “Joe Sixpack”? Lol what a joke, just buzz-words to secure certain demographics voting for them. Those are unfortunately the sections of American society who I despise. There are middle class Americans who don’t represent those crass images of the average American, but they (and again, Palin mostly) seem to want them more than anything this election.

I’m glad to see Obama put that scandal on BLAST!!!!! Let the truth be known, Obama’s ish is always put on blast. They won’t let that Rev Wright sh*t go or his ties to supposed “terrorists”….whatever.
I am so sick of McCain’s decrepit ass and his redneck hockey mom sidekick. November 4 please hurry up so we can get thios OVER with!!!

Thank you #7, exactly my point.

And I’m still clueless over her comment with Tina Fey imperonating her on SNL, talking about “Oh I just wanted to give Tina Fey something to talk about” WHAT are you serious! There is nothing funny about being pick on for being clueless at a debate or even answering any of the questions without giving shout out, WTH.

McCain/Palin are a JOKE and I really don’t see the seriousness in this campaign at all just MESS, and more MESS and if we are not smart enough to realize that our future will be in the hands of these idiots then God Bless Us, cause that’s where it’s going to go if WE don’t get out and VOTE to show we really want change and our economy to get some what back to normal, cause this is getting very critical for the US, we are the biggest JOKE now.

So vote for Change not foolishness folks.

PEACE!!!

and # 8 i’m sick and tired of her too. i swear she is living proof as to why the men in office don’t take women seriously. whatever cracks women have worked for putting in that glass ceiling in politics this woman as just undone them. and that “hockey mom” rubs me the wrong way every time i hear. i swear sometimes i believe this woman feel that alaska is the main land and that she’s running for a chair in the canadian parliament versus a seat in the u.s high office.

Let me just say this.... (I don't care if ya get mad)

Tuesday, October 7, 2008 /

This is war, it’s tit for tat now… McCain brings up Ayers on Obama and Obama brings up Keating… If you are voting for Obama you will say oh this is old news…. if you are voting for McCain you will probably say the same thing…. some people care because they are defending their candidates….

I will file this in the rectangular file because if it was Obama I would say oh who the hell cares about that it’s old news…. and I think Obama pulled McCain’s card because he brought up Ayers and O has been told he was being too soft so there you have it… it’s called playing the game and that’s what politicians are best at

I hope and pray that Obama wont answer him. The thing is Maccan have nothing else to talk bout. A time like this isnt time to attack anyone and they r only doing so because they know Joe Bidden’s ma-in law passed away and they surely know he is the only one who can answer em just wait till he returns. But truth is John isnt proving anything. He should be talkin bout those 40% of ppl who lost their jobs, he should be talkin bout cost of tution being double for UNIVERSITY and COLLEGE student, they should be talking about the Economy and how they’r going to fix it. But overall they not talkin bout it so it means they out of it.

Also for them to call Obama terrorist is stupid cuz if u look at it then Bush is too cuz Bush fam and Osama were friends. Obama was 7 for Godsake.

And Sarah palin should watch herself cuz she has dirty of her own too. Its just sad Obama wan play fair an d they dont. But lies or not lies Obama ll be the NEXT PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATE OF AMERICA.

VOOOOOOOOOOOOTE

These smear tactics from McCain/Palin are a last ditch effort from the Republicans because to date, it is clear that Obama is a more strategic and prepared candidate. McCain’s as well as Palin’s remarks have been nothing but blatant attacks on Obama that deter attention away from the issues that are important to America right now!

Noone will be bamboozled into believing the Republicans attempts to smear Obama. Let’s show America the change we’ve needed for the last 8 years!

Vote Obama 2008!

I am soo glad that Obama is coming out fighting!! Democrats tend to be so Nice and passive! Being nice and passive does NOT win elections! Ask John Kerry!! The Republicans play dirty and unfortunately that’s what it’s going to take to win. McCain is using Sarah Palin to do his dirty work by calling Obama a terroist and bringing up (agian) Rev Wright as well as Obama’s casual business acquaintenaces. John McCain has so much REAL dirt on him that he is going to get shut down!

What do we really know abou that idiot Sarah Palin? Hell McCain doesn’t really know anything about her. She knows nothing about foreign policy or even American policies for that matter. I’ve listened to her and she does a lot of talking, but never really says anything. She doesn’t have her own ideas, and I’m so sick of all her gestures and whatnot when she is being interviewed. The winking, hand movements. It’s tacky.
Obama didn’t fight Hillary during the primaries because he knew there would be a bigger fish to fry, and the people are speaking and McCain can’t take it and now that we are 28 days out he is grasping at straws. They keep trying to connect Obama with Bill Ayers, well when all the stuff Bill Ayers carried on was happening Obama was an 8 year old child. When McCain was dealing with Keating back in the 80s he was a grown man already in the senate who should have known better. They need to quit.

I HOPE ANY PRAY THAT EVERYBODY ON HERE IS REGISTERED, BECAUSE IF NOT, U ARE NOT READY FOR A CHANGE, AND REALLY DON’T GIVE A DAMN IF THE US GOES UP IN FLAMES AT ALL. I MEAN, I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE WE HAVE TWO OF THE MOST IDIOTIC REPUBLICANS FIGHTING TO RUN THIS COUNTRY. THEY ARE BOTH PATHETIC, AND TERRIFIED IF YOU ASK ME, BECAUSE THEY ALREADY KNOW THIS ELECTION IS NOT IN THERE FAAVOR AT ALL, WHICH IS WHY THEY KEEP PULLING OUT THESE LITTLE SUCKER PUNCHES THEY TRY TO THROW AT OBAMA. THEY ARE DONE, YOU CAN USUALLY TELL AS THE ELECTION GET CLOSER WHO IS GOING TO WIN. WELL IN MY OPINION, IT LOOKS LIKE OBAMA WILL BE “WAVING THE WHITE FLAG” OF VICTORY AT THE END OF THIS RACE. THAT IS IF THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY WANT CHANGE TO COME GET THEIR ASSES TO THE POLLS ON NOV. 4!

Yeah, I’m waiting for someone to call Palin out on the fact that your husband was associated with a group who tried to get Alaska to secede from the Union. I want them to talk about the fact that Palin goes to a church where the preacher was an active part of witch trials in Africa (which means that someone was possibly killed). But, you know what, Obama hit him with the right ad, Keating 5 which actually has something to do with financial crisis.

I was wondering when Obama was going to bring up the Keating savings and loans scandal cuz that was some heavy ish McCain was involved in. If you’re unfamiliar with it def check out that documentary. Obama’s camp did a good job putting that together and came hard with it by sending out mass emails to all his supporters to check it out and send it along to friends.

With the election less than a month away I hope everyone is registered to vote and will be hitting the polls! And I can’t wait for the debate!

The republicans are discombobulated, desperate and dangerous. They can see the presidency clearly slipping away. For them it’s like chasing the horizon and they will do anything at this point to win this election – and that is what makes them dangerous.

McCain said “I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed.” I ask the question isn’t that what you’ve been doing to Obama…calling him a Muslim and terrorist? But the only difference is no one believes you, people are tired of these smears and it is showing in the polls.

Palin is the next one, she is talking about Rev Wright, why isn’t anyone talking about her witch doctor/obeah man, that she goes to to cast demons out of her? See, that is the power of the media. They can make the villain look good and good guy look bad.

One more thing…I would strongly advice all these racist white bastards and watch dog Uncle Toms to abandon these “Kill Him” thoughts. Believe me when I say that there are some Black men who are not handcuffed by the non-violence, love your enemy” approach of the past. We know how to speak the language of hate, and there will be some dialogue. So make no mistake about it, we are poised to retaliate in a way that is uncompromised and unapologetic, if anyone touches a strand of Obama’s hair.

It’s about time the Obama campaign put the the Keating 5 scandal into light. It was very smart on their part, because it was done less than a month before the general election.

I can’t wait for this debate tonight. Obama needs to tear McCain’s ass up.

Hillary and Obama got ugly doing the primary, she could not attack him to hard since they are in the same party. McCain does not have those worries, so expect the last 4 weeks until election to get gutter. His campaign is ONLY going negative since he is down in the polls. He must get the conversation off of the issues and into the distractions. It will now work.

Even if Obama gets into power, you must remember this is politics. He’ll get blamed for everything going wrong seeing as Bush is leaving the USA ( heck and the rest of the world) in a mess, he may have to deal with a hostile Congress, and things may change. You gotta make ‘promises’ to get into power first. Capitalism isnt going anywhere people and a week is a long time in politics.
Although if McCain gets in with his maverick Palin ( if he picked Romney, he wouldnt have shot himself in the foot but anyway…), a week will be an eternity.
