POLITICS: OBAMA TRIED TO SWAY IRAQIS? / PALIN SAYS OBAMA NOT TELLING THE TRUTH / …NEITHER IS SHE

Friday, October 10, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (left) in July

While the Bush administration was negotiating an agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama tried to convince Iraqi leaders that the president shouldn’t be allowed to do so without congressional approval, reports the Washington Times.

Two weeks after claiming the Democratic presidential nomination in June, Obama began conversing with Iraqi leaders and sparked controversy whether it was appropriate for a presidential candidate to contact foreign governments in which the current president is presently at odds.

Iraqi leaders say Obama urged them to delay an agreement with Bush until next year. The Obama campaign denies the claim, but admits a conversation did occur.

“In the conversation, the senator urged Iraq to delay the [memorandum of understanding] between Iraq and the United States until the new administration was in place,” said Samir Sumaidaie, Iraq’s ambassador to the United States.

He said Mr. Zebari replied that any such agreement would not bind a new administration. “The new administration will have a free hand to opt out,” he said the foreign minister told Mr. Obama.

An Obama spokesperson denied last month’s NY Post’s article that he had asked Iraqi leaders to delay any agreement on a reduction of U.S. troops until the next president takes office.

PALIN SAYS OBAMA NOT TELLING THE TRUTH

On Thursday, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attacked Sen. Barack Obama for not being honest about his association with William Ayers.

On Laura Ingraham’s conservative radio show, Palin said:

“Barack Obama hasn’t told the American people the total truth about that, about his association with Ayers. Doggonit, he fails to tell the American people with candor and with truthfulness what his associations are and we have to know.”

Palin added that Obama would diminish “the prestige of the United States presidency”. Funny, I thought George W. Bush did a great job of that.

“What does it say when Barack Obama says he would sit down unconditionally with Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il and others, unconditionally, and I guess sort of hand over some of the prestige of the United States presidency and validate, I think validate, some of the positions that these dictators have taken.

Barack Obama is so far out of mainstream America. And the policies I fear that he would support, that are so far left, that are maybe today in the campaign are packaged up to look real pretty and mainstream, they are not.”

During an interview with ABC, Obama said the McCain was trying to score “cheap political points”:

“I’ll repeat again what I’ve said many times. This is a guy who engaged in some despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old. By the time I met him, 10 or 15 years ago, he was a college professor of education at the University of Illinois.

The notion that somehow he has been involved in my campaign, that he is an adviser of mine, that . . . I’ve ‘palled around with a terrorist’, all these statements are made simply to try to score cheap political points.”

…NEITHER IS SHE

While responding to a question whether it was true that the U.S. was shipping 75 percent of its Alaskan oil overseas, Sarah Palin said it was impossible since Congress had put strict bans on the amount of oil and gas that America could export.

The woman who, according to John McCain, “knows more about energy than probably anyone in the United States of America” should know that no Alaska(!) oil has been exported since 2004, and little if any since 2000.

Congress has never outright imposed bans on oil exports. It prohibited exports of Alaska oil in 1973 when the Alaskan oil pipeline was built. However, when there were large volumes of Alaska oil and U.S. demand lessened, the ban was lifted. The ban for Alaska has never been reinstated.

Palin also previously declared that as governor of Alaska, she oversaw nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of oil and gas. Alaska is the ninth largest energy supplier in the U.S. and accounts for 3.5 percent of the nation’s total energy production.

I don’t think anyone in their right mind should vote McCain/Palin. McCain is 72-73 and if he dies, which is not unlikely for his age, she will become a puppet ruler. And if she doesn’t, that’s even worse bc she doesn’t know what she’s doing. No offense to her, but she’s just out of her league. Maybe give it a few years. . . syke.

McCain really ruined his chances of winning by electing her in my eyes. There’s no other choice but Obama.

I will let yall make it on Palin, It is clear that you guys were not a fan even before you knew anything about her. Although it is strange you guys havent said anythnig about Obama grandmothers claims and the ACORN mess. It cool we know why you dont have to say it.

Now this is yet another reason why I cant get down with Obama. He is not the president as of yet. Only bush has been elected weather you voted for him or not. Let that man do his job. If Obama wants to talk to Mr. Zebari about cooking cool, but policy is off limits. What if he dosen t win. what is he going to do be the President from the side. He first pissed me off when he didnt go see the troops oversees because he couldnt pass out them damn stickers and bottons. I pray that if he does win he does each and everything that he is say ( though I dont agree with half the shit he says) cus if not the media that loves him so much is going to go in his closet and pull out all the things he is trying to hide and it will not be pretty.

God bless America and all the selfish people wo live here

I have read atleast every comment in the “Political section” and I still don’t really get how any person of color has any sense of pride in a country that has done so much wrongs. This country stole land by murdering and driving out Asiatic-Native Americans and some African-Native Americans like the Wichitaw and many others around all of the Americas. Then Christopher Columbus sold some millions to Europe and then the Trans-Atlantic slave trade started when Africa was slipping economically. And today we have the Federal Reserve and International Banks rapping this country for what it’s worth. You don’t have to vote for Obama, but please tell me that the reason is
because you believe in McCain’s stance on domestic and foreign policy,

because that is the reason I am voting for Obama, I dont agree with every

policy stance he is taking but the majority of them are sound and the
d direction I see this country needs to be heading. Visit both candidate sites instead of just voting by emotion or viseral response to CL POSTS.

Unlike these hatred fueled racist republicans, majority of the voters are rational and they see through the desperation of the McCain campaign. John McCain is a coward, he never said a word about Ayers during the debate but as soon as he was back on the road he is talking shit.

lmao this is laughable…. well he already met with them it’s a done deal! If Obama was savvy enough to convince leaders to delay a decision it just shows how much power he already has with foreign countries especially a country Bush is at odds with so what is their point now… Obama certainly was important enough to the Iraqi’s to even meet with a “presidential candidate”.

McCain is just tight he didn’t get there first so now Obama is a threat to “the presitige of the President” well the current President lost his alleged presitige years ago and as of current he just looks like an ass… new title is “The Worst President in the history of America” if I’m not mistaken… We have to reestablish what we lost.

Just drudging up and slinging the mud well Palin can use it as a face mask it’s great for the skin! lol..

It isn’t Obama that has problems with Iraq it’s old politics… republican politics.. Bush politics…

There will never be 1 person who will please all people. McCain and Palin are getting desperate and grasping for straws. It’s amazing how the Reps entire initial campaign against Obama was his inexperience. Yet, they bring on somebody with even less experience, not they say he is out of touch and doesn’t get it, yet McCain tried to steal Obama’s ideas for this country as his own. Palin wants to talk slick and call Biden old on the sly, yet McCain is older than him. McCain has said himself that he has voted WITH Bush over 90% of the time, but says he’ll do something different once in office. McCain wrote some policy and then turned around and called it crap. This man doesn’t know if he’s coming or going. He is said EVERYTHING from A to Z just to get elected. He did lose points with me because of the Palin choice because there are FAR more qualified Rep’s he could of pick.
I feel more comfortable having Obama for President rather than McCain. McCain’s policies are not for the working middle class and sadly it seems like the working middle class doesn’t even know it.

Did you guys see that Uncle Tom who was talking at the McCain rally yesterday? Now tell me, as a black man, if God forbid I were supporting McCain and attended one his rallies and heard white people shouting racial epithet at another black man, calling him a terrorist, shouting “Off with his head” and “Kill him” that alone would make me think that maybe I am supporting the wrong group. I mean in the year 2008, how can a black person condone or partake racisms against his own race?

I am going to start a group and call it AUTOS (Annihilate Uncle Toms on Sight)…Just joking I do not promote violence unless violence is perpetrated towards you. But that sleazy ass Nigga had my blood boiling. When I saw that fucking Uncle Tom grab the mic and started talking to McCain in the most affectionate and compassionate tone I wanted to slap the spit out of his mouth. And I know he wouldn’t do a damn thing about it because that’s what Negroes like him are trained to do. They are watch dogs. He will fight to defend a white man with his life and will not do anything to defend himself or another black person. Ever see a vicious watch dog? Catch him in the street he’ll tuck his tail and run because he was not trained to defend himself. However, if you try to approach the master or do anything to make his master feel uncomfortable he’ll growl and bite the shit outta you. These Negroes, both men and woman like the one I saw on TV last night and the few on this sight are the 2008 version of a watch dog.

Educational Resumes of Obama, McCain, Biden & Palin
Suppose you are a hiring manager and have four young candidates to choose from to work in your business. The job involves managing a diverse group of people, having a basic knowledge of economics, politics, foreign relations, education, law, and government. You need someone who is a team-player, is decisive, and has a ‘get the job done’ attitude.

Looking at these four educational resumes*, without knowing their race or their gender, who would you give an interview to?

Obama:
Occidental College (Los Angeles) - 2 years studying Politics and Public Policy.
Columbia University (New York) - B.A. Political Science with a specialization in International Relations.
Harvard Law School - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude, Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Law Review.

Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and a B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899.
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester - Business Administration.
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - General Studies.
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - Journalism.
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester.
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism.

Even of Palin cured cancer you and others like you would still say ( well what about this , amd I just dont like her) and Liz on the view gave about four or five good reasons but because you dont agree with her they are not good reasons to you, you say there are no reason. Which I can undersatnd because Obama says somethings that may sound good to you, but they sound like a bunch of foolishness to me. Point taken.

@ the one

Websites have nothing to do with how I pick who I think has my best intrest at heart. I vote in every election from county judge to the senate race. I first listen to what they say, then I look at their platform and how it will affect me. ( not people around me because at the end of the day nobody will take care of you like you) and after that I look at their record for the jobs they currently hold and have held. And lastly I try to understand how likey they are to act on the policies that they talk about. I hope eveybody votes like that but I just saw a video by a Ron paul support that show just how many people are voting for the wrong reason.

And I say agian America is the best thing going Love, been to Japan and China they dont like black people for real you better ask around before you leave. And I dont know if you heard but Africa is having race problems way worst than us. But please dont let me stop you from leaving. @Ja

The problem with your views and the way you view these candidates is your decisions are solely based on you, and how everything affects you. Not one time have you expressed that you were voting for the candidate that is the best for the country. You actually called the people in America selfish, but on numerous occasions you reference to voting for issues that are specific to you. You are probably doing fine in this economy, you are probably never have to worry about health care, and you probably love the fact that our country is at war. What you don’t understand is the rest of us are not! You need to start realizing that we are not voting for the president of the country JA. We are voting for the president of the United States. It is very simple, 8 years ago president Bush stole the election, and has a very poor job leading our country. McCain will be no better because he share a majority of the same views as president Bush. If something does not work once, try again. If something does not work twice, try something different.(i.e Obama)

I have a question for you, pure curiosity. Do you think George Bush has done a good job as President?

Also, I believe I speak for everyone when I say the reason no one like Sarah Palin is because she is not who I want my next president, vice president or even my governor to be. Nothing about her politics, views, or personality makes me think she is prepared to do anything. She is an actor playing a vice presidential nominee. Every time she talks it seems like we are being punked!

Maybe JA you should think about someone besides you. I can guarantee you that if today you don’t understand what I say, you will when you finally understand that we are not voting on this president for us, but for our children and our future.

Last thing, Does anyone else ever think if we did not go to war we would have the 700 Billion dollars to pay for the bailout plan.

46.

Cedes

Friday, October 10, 2008 /

I’ve always read your post J.Dakar, but I’ve never posted.

I’ll make this simple. The McCain campaign is desperate. They are trying to sway the attention of the economic crisis to Obama “associating with terrorist”. It’s beyond pathetic. Normally in an election the VP pick plays the “bulldog role” where they say the negative and give the presidential candidate the position to speak on what he/she will do for the country etc etc. but palin is pulling A DUMB move.
Its funny though how this “so called” experienced Alaska’s governor who probably never read a newspaper in her life, who doesn’t know anything about the bush doctrine. OMG I KNOW THE BUSH DOCTORINE, (and it’s the dumbest crap I’ve ever read) a woman who believes she has foreign policy experience because she can see Russia from her kitchen window can dare call Obama a liar.
Does she really know the connection b/w Obama and Ayers? They were in an organization together to help improve education in the city of Chicago. That’s pretty much it. Did Obama and Ayers have similar beliefs on the policies of America? NO, they were in a city provided group that helped improve education. Period. How does that related Obama as a terrorist?
The desperate move of the McCain campaign is pathetic and humorous at the same time.

Obama/Biden O8.

Can you tell me one thing that Obama will do to help my issues. I have never nor will I ever ask anyone to do harm to any other person. READ All my post. I sure you feel big when you call people names. And if some of you people cry about jobs would join the Army navy or what ever you would not be out of work. But I guess just being a soldier is not honest enough work for. You rather wait unitl I obama win to bring you one of those jobs from Poland he keeps talking about. The problem is he did hang out with people who like to bomb things and racist that hide behind church and the bible. thats FACT. Like I said plain as day you can support anyone you want be it Obama Ron paul are who ever. Just dont expect me too just because you do.
Now I stand by my points. If you think so little of America and Americans please dont wait until an election go head get your paper work together now. Be real in you statements. and Obama needs not to get involed in the Bush’s efforts in Iraq until he is elected to something. Now he is on the committee for what gose on in Afganstan so he can talk and say what ever he needs to to Al queda.

The election process is based on what is good for the people. Thats why we each get a vote because we want to see what the Majortiy of the people want. I live in Texas and the last time I check we the majortiy wanted McCain. If more people vote for Obama then he will win, if more people vote for McCain he will win. Voting 101.
More than the war has brought on the 700 bail out that I am not in favor of. And no I dont love war. But war will happen. Weather you guys like are not. I’ve been there and I guesss you can t Identify because you have not. Yes I vote for Bush 2 times. He and his policy on veteran Affairs help restore some of the benefit that were taking away from alot of retired soldiers when clinton took office. Also he iincreased soldiers pay, gave us better health care and life insurance, better housing, more education benefits, more soldier then ever before were able to afford homes with out Acorn, fannie mae, and ATM’s. improved schools for kids of soldier serving oversees, spoke out against abortion, and didnt raise my taxes. just to name a few. Now I’m sorry you didnt get in on all of that but like I always say THE ARMY IS ALWAYS HIRING. They will prove you with a home food for you an d your family. are you can keep waiting on them Jobs from Mexico.
Now I have no problem with palin, Yall keep saying what if McCain dies. Well life and death is uncertain and no day are promised to Obama. Are you ready for Biden? and if so why is he the front runner?

Like I say vote for you not for everybody else. You know what you need better than me. You can try to keep explaining it but I wont get it because I have not been in your shoes. It would be silly of to even want to go though some of the things that are making you so angry. I get up and thank the lord for a new day and keep it moving.

It is funny that people support McCain and Bush thinking that they are not as Racist as Ayers. Why is what Ayers did any different that what Bush did to those who suffered during Hurricane Katrina? They both don’t care for black people, but one will admit it. If anyone here thinks that either McCain or Palin or even Bush are any different than Ayers, they are crazy. I give Ayers more respect because at least he admits he is a racist.

And really, if you think about it, what does it say about a black man character, when he would sit and talk with a former KKK member to actually do something positive for the community they share. That who I want as a president not the latter!

Go to Salon.com for an in-depth story on Sarah Palin’s ties to a radical right wing fringe group, in reality she and her husband hate the United States and want Alaska’s independence from the rest of the country.

This woman is scary, she nor John McCain should have a chance at the White House. Being that McCain is 72 years old, the likelihood of Sarah Palin becoming President is very real should she and McCain win this election. McCain is known for having a very hot temper, even fellow Republicans have said that his temperament can get out of control, and that he doesn’t have the right temperament to be Commander in Chief.

People like you are responsible for why our country is the way it is and i am glad you are proud of it! I guess the only people that benefited from the last 8 year are those you were in the military. The rest of America will suffer so you can prosper! Eventually we will have the most well paid, well taken care of military and government, who will protect a country full of unemployed, non healthcare having people, who can’t afford the price of gas, because we spent all our money on a war we hand no business starting instead of investing on becoming energy independent.

Instead you all call McCain these childish names and claim him and Palin to be “liers”. Which yes, they haven’t been 100% truthful but neither has Obama. It comes across as ignorant. So you have to expect people to be uncomfortable with an name like Barak Obama. But on the other hand just the blantant disregard and lack of respect thrown at this man is absurd. Granted opinions differ. But you havent heard Obama’s Campaign make racist remarks. (if he did point it out). I wont play the race card and say that white people arent comfortable, because there are some black, hispanic, asian whatever creed that arent comfortable. We automatically pass judgement on this man because of what name was given to him. Nothing on his accomplishments, automatically he has subversive ties. Whether it be the Weather Underground, Shi’ite Fundamentalist, Fat Chicks For Bigger Bras (lol) or whom ever. We are taught to pass judgement without being thorough. I support Obama for his Ideals and how he thinks. Its time for the Good ol Boys to retire and spend some of the money they’ve been embezzling for all these years. Maybe it will help the ecomony…. ACORN has been around LONG before anyone knew who Barack Obama was. The GOP has been attacking this organization for a long time, because they advocated for the poor and disenfranchised, and these groups often support Democratic candidates. Now they are trying to use ACORN to smear Obama and they’re calling the organization “radical”; any group that advocates for the poor is automatically radical according to Republicans. Obama poses the biggest threat to Republican victory in November, and they are using whatever they can to cut Obama’s support, especially among working class Whites who don’t take the time to research the truth and take everything Republicans say as being truthful.

You are so right ACORN was around way before Obama but the fact still remain that this is a group that in spite of being for minorty is part of the Fannie mae swift morgages that cause so many people to lose their homes. lets be real You would not co sign a loan or give a loan to a person who had no way to pay for it. No down payment and projected( made up) income. So why would a group who is for the people steer folks to this. These are not people who dont know better. Educated were where going out and tell people you don t need to be able to offer it now just get the house and worry about cost of living later. Obama worked to aquire earmarks for the group even after if was proving that they as a group were into shaded practices. I just wonder who much of that money went to the south side of Chi-town with ACORN now having to make payroll and all. He was there lawyer to help them fend of regulation and charges of harrassment of bank works who refuse to give loan to unquilfied people. Now to be fair when it and companies first started it did do some good things , but now it’s about money. these are now people who are paid to put folks in homes by any means. Plus this mess with voter rregstration is silly. I thin with the exception of soldiers oversees and the handicap everyone should have to go to the county clerk and regster themselves. Lets at least be honest if nothing else.

and just in case you didnt know the first bail out bill included money for ACORN. part of the reason it didnt pass. Why do they spend as much money on campagins as they do help efforts. Lots of non profits do it with out endorsing people.

JA, America’s the best thing going? I beg to differ. I lived in japan for many years and to say they hate black people is a fallacy. Some of my closest friends are Japanese and a few I consider more like family. I’ve talked to a lot of Americans white and blacks alike that say they would never want to raise their family’s in the US. So, to say America is gold–especially the ones that haven’t been anywhere outside the US is a scare tactic to keep people close minded about other countries.

Or John McCain risk his life to keep the fighting over there. People dont understand that everytime our nation was attacked by another nation we had low milltary numbers. And if we would have been paying more attention to the the conflict growing in the Mid East, which we were doing before Clinton, 9/11 may have never happened. It didnt take two years to plan 9/11 it took years so many years that John Kerry ( a soldier ) told clinton Bin Laden is up to something. I believe this was 98.

So I have read everything and already know that I am voting for Obama because I believe he is best for our country to move forward in the world arena and to rise from the mess that has been the last 8 years. I have followed McCain’s campaign and I simply don’t agree with his views, negativity and underhanded tactics. Ja while I have not served in the military, I know several people that have and I am contracted under the military. I support our troops but I also believe that we need to rebuild and people are not going join a military that is being ran ragged and whose mental stability is not being protected. I also know when you become a solider you follow orders because that is the whole entire basis, but I don’t believe in lying to troops and having them die for personal gain.

America is selfish to an extent, but within the grand scheme of things more people are caring about more than themselves and voting on issues that may not even effect them. Telling people to vote on issues that only effect them is a ridiculous statement simply because everything effects you whether you know it or not. Thought some issues may not effect me now, who is to say where my life will be in a few years. Just make sure you make informed decisions.

Obama does have my vote. I’m not a fanatic and still see him as a politician - I do think his policies are solid and he is an optimistic figure that this country needs. He is smart and I also believe that he is compassionate and really is concerned about the struggles of the everyday man. But I think all political figures have shady connections, ALL of them, including Obama. I would love to see him in office - I think he deserves it, has run a more ethical campaign and has shown he has a cool head. JA,

ACORN, just like any other organization, is not perfect. As for the bailout, let’s not forget about what eight years of George Bush has done to our economy, there is more than one side at fault for our current situation. And let’s be honest here, do you really think Republicans would care about what ACORN was doing unless they could somehow tie their actions to the Democratic party in order to gain support from voters. The attacks on ACORN are political, especially now since Republicans are scared to death of losing not only the White House, but several seats in the House of Reps. and Senate. Republicans should be the LAST group of people to talk about tampering with the Democratic process, right? They’re already trying to find ways to prevent people who are registered from voting (i.e. if your house is in foreclosure you can’t vote). These attempts at voter suppression are an effort to scare minorities and the poor away from the polls. And let’s not get into the tampering of electronic voting machines. Diebold, the company that supplies these machines, are big-time contributors to the RNC (Republican National Committee). They don’t want a landslide victory for Obama or any other Democratic candidate.

Yes, Obama is a politician and a human being, both aspects make him imperfect. I’m not one of those supporters who sees him as the “messiah”, those who do are just as off-base as the rednecks attending McCain/Palin rallies recently. The John McCain of 2000 or 2004 would have been more tolerable as a Republican President because he was more of a moderate then. However, to win this election McCain has sold his soul to the far-right of the Republican party, their party’s base. We don’t need a continuation of “compassionate conservatism” in this country, because look where we are now. And God forbid if something were to happen to McCain and Palin became our new President, this woman is too far to the right (and I believe she’s a bigot) and she associates with a militia group (that’s what AIP is basically) which hates the United States so much that they want to separate Alaska from the Union.

@ McCainSupporter:

To assume that most or all of the people who post on a “black blog site” spend more time listening to Puff Daddy than paying attention to the issues is rather ignorant on your part.

And you may want to do some fact-checking of your own on Obama’s record rather than taking everything that McCain and his surrogates say at face value. But the McCain campaign has done A LOT of distorting of Obama’s record, so it’s not surprising. The tired line about Obama voting 94% of the time to raise taxes on the middle class has been refuted over and over, and yet Republicans continue to make this claim.

FACTS: Twenty-three of Obama’s votes on taxes were for measures that would have produced no tax increase at all; they were against proposed tax cuts.
Seven of the votes were in favor of measures that would have lowered taxes for many, while raising them on a relative few, either corporations or affluent individuals.
Eleven votes the GOP is counting would have increased taxes on those making more than $1 million a year – in order to fund programs such as Head Start and school nutrition programs, or veterans’ health care. The majority of the 94 votes – 53 of them, including some mentioned above – were on budget measures, not tax bills, and would not have resulted in any tax change. Four other votes were non-binding motions related to conference report negotiations.

FACTS: Obama on small business taxes-McCain has repeatedly claimed that Obama would raise tax rates for 23 million small-business owners. It’s a false and preposterously inflated figure.
It was found that the overwhelming majority of those small-business owners would see no increase, because they earn too little to be affected. Obama’s tax proposal would raise rates only on couples making more than $250,000 or singles earning more than $200,000.

LOL I love how you jumped over the FACTS that I posted on Obama’s voting record LOL, typical Republican spin. You should work for Fox “Faux” News, they love people like you. You should also take a writing course because your post is just a bunch of rants piled into one huge paragraph.

Experience is important, that’s a fair argument. However, George Bush Jr. had “experience” too, where did that get us? By the way, what did Bush do as Governor of Texas that was so great? You know what the answer to that question is?? NOTHING! George Bush was a flunky used by the Republican party to get Republicans back in the White House after Democrats were in control for eight years thanks to Bill Clinton. Dick Cheney Inc. ran the country in reality, and they used Bush because they knew they could convince him to do whatever they wanted, including start a war in Iraq (Cheney = Halliburton, you’ve heard of Halliburton, right?? How much do you think they’ve made off of the Iraq War?? What about the other companies with contracts to work in Iraq, how many millions have they made?)

The Republicans are trying to use minorities and poor people as a scapegoat for why the market is bad, it’s just another way to divide the people of this country and to further their cause.

And what is your preoccupation with “Puff Daddy”? You’re assuming that all Black people take his opinion seriously, but again that just shows how ignorant and uninformed you are. I never cared for his music, and I certainly don’t go out of my way to hear his opinions on politics and world affairs. Try not to make a habit of ASSuming things about people. Source Magazine and Vibe Magazine are magazines targeted to young people, there is nothing wrong with reaching young people who are eligible to vote and motivating them to care about the future of this country. What are you scared of, that young Blacks and Latinos will come out in droves to support Obama in November, that certainly wouldn’t help your candidates John McCain and Sarah Palin, right?? LOL.

You don’t want to go there with me about Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers. As a Professor at the University of Chicago Bill Ayers worked with DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS on the Annenberg education project in Chicago. In fact, it was a Republican, Walter Annenberg (a lifelong Republican and former ambassador appointed by Reagan and Nixon) who funded the program to reform urban education in many cities in the mid 1990s. Annenberg sought Ayers to be involved in the project, even after knowing about his past, does that make Annenberg a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer? Does that make the Republicans who worked with Obama and Ayers on the project terrorists, too?? Or is it Obama’s skin color and middle name that makes him seem like the only one who would be a “terrorist sympathizer” and therefore want to work with someone like Bill Ayers?

I respect Sen McCain’s service to his country, and I admire his courage and strength in enduring a horrendous experience as a POW. HOWEVER, his policies are wrong for this country and that it is why I support Sen. Barack Obama. We don’t need a continuation of George Bush, and that is what John McCain will provide.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright (being the “ant-American” person that he is) served his country as a Marine. He left college in Virginia and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and became part of the 2nd Marine Division attaining the rank of private first class. In 1963, after two years of service, Wright joined the United States Navy and entered the Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Wright was then trained as a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Wright was assigned as part of the medical team charged with care of President Lyndon B. Johnson (see photo of Wright caring for Johnson after his 1966 surgery). Before leaving the position in 1967, the White House Physician, Vice Admiral Burkley, personally wrote Wright a letter of thanks on behalf of the United States President. Wright loved his country enough to serve in the Marines and Navy, how many years did George Bush or Dick Cheney spend serving their country in such a capacity? The answer is zero.

Great comments! I’m going to add to your comment about to help out with people who use “NO Experience” as an excuse for Obama. You were on point about Bush with all his “experience”

Most of us got our jobs without having any experience. We got the job because of our determination and drive. Parts of this nation was built on great ideas, determination and drive, not experience. So you can continue to use that as an excuse if you want, but I will still vote for Obama, not because of his skin color or his education but his determination and drive.

I don’t know of any black man that would risk his life and be blatantly disrespected to bring together a divided country. Most black folks can’t withstand what he has been through. That right there is is clearly out of the norm.

You may not believe he will change anything, but in my eyes he already has. There are folks out there who registered to vote who have never voted before in there lives! That’s change right there. But do you.

My comment is for McCain Supporter #67 & 69 comments, you said McCain was a POW for 5 years and he protected our country so we could live happily today.
1. McCain is not the only person in this world who has fought for our country, and somehow people view his military history as being qualified to lead. I thank him for fighting for our country, but that isn’t enough to be president.
2. You said Sarah Palin is qualified to be president, that is a scary statement. There is no way she is qualified, that girl can’t even name a court case besides roe vs. wade. She could of said the miranda rights case everyone knows that one, its the little things that show a person character. She has been showing me how ignorant she is. I watched the v.p. debate she made me sick. She performed and followed her script so well. The only time she went above and beyond in answer was when the topic was focused on energy. Joe Biden gave you detailed answer you couldn’t of asked for anything else.
3. Lastly you say he protected the country so we could live happily today, how many happy I mean really happy people do you know. I see people struggling right now, cutting back on spending because of our economy right now. Look in the Parade magazine all this b.s. about Obama raising taxes and the middle class suffers, this should shut McCain/Palin traps up. It shows in a McCain and Obama presidency who saves money on taxes
