POLITICS: RACISM WILL HURT OBAMA? / CLINTONS BOOST OBAMA & BIDEN / PALIN CLEARED
Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Former Cuban president Fidel Castro says “profound racism” in the United States will cost Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama votes in next month’s election.
He added that it’s “a miracle that the Democratic candidate hasn’t suffered the same luck as (assassinated leaders) Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others who harbored dreams of equality and justice”. He insisted that millions of whites “cannot reconcile themselves to the idea that a black person … could occupy the White House, which is called just that: white.” Apparently, race does make a difference.
CLINTONS BOOST OBAMA & BIDEN
According to Hillary Clinton, “We have not seen more troubles at one time since World War Two,” and “probably no president will inherit more challenges that President Obama will, since Harry Truman had to take over from Franklin Roosevelt,” she said at a rally in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She and former President Bill Clinton stumped with Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden on Sunday in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
This was the first joint rally the Clintons have done for the Obama-Biden ticket and the first time Bill Clinton has campaigned with either of them. Of Biden, he said:
“If you had a secret ballot of all the Republicans and Democrats in the Congress, and you asked them to put two or three names down of the people in the entire Congress who know the most about the economic, political and security challenges of America and the world, his name would be on every single secret ballot.”
He added, “If you ask yourself who has the best ideas, who’s got the best instincts, who’s got the best ability to understand these challenges, who’s got the best supporting cast, the answer is Barack Obama. And that’s why Hillary’s here, that’s why I’m here, that’s why you’re here.”
PALIN CLEARED
Sarah Palin has been “cleared of any legal wrongdoing, any hint of unethical activity” after dismissing a state official who refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law from the state police, she told Alaska reporters Saturday.
Palin had the authority to fire state police chief Walt Monegan, but the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower concluded that she abused her power as Alaska’s governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law Mike Wooten fired from the state police.
“Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda,” the report states.

This election is going to cast a big reflection in the mirror of America. We are truly going to see just how much RACE is a significant part of the way of life here in America. “Typos” on ballots? Come on. The OBVIOUS choice is Obama. Let’s see how many traditionally racist mofos change their stripes and do what’s right. I’m an optimist but I really don’t think America is ready for that CHANGE that we need. It would be a tragedy if they tried to pull another fast one on us again. Go out and vote people.

WELL THERE IS NO SURPRISE HERE THAT PALIN GOT OFF. NOW IF THER WERE MICHELLE OR OBAMA, THEY WOULD HAVE STUCK IT TO BOTH OF THEM WITH LITTLE TO NO HESITATION. HOWEVER, WE ALL KNOW THE REASONS BEHING THE “CLEARED” DECISION ON PALIN’S BEHALF. ALSO, I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP TALKING ABOUT ASSASINATIONS ETC DURING THIS PRESIDENTIAL TIME. AS WE ALL KNOW THERE ARE MANY SICK MINDS OUT THERE AND WE SHOULD NOT BE WELCOMING THE IDEA WHICH IS WHAT PEOPLE ARE DOING WHEN THEY REFER TO LEADERS AS MLK OR MALCOM X WITH OBAMA IN THE SUBJECT LINE!!! COME ON PEOPLE, WAKE UP!

Even if the economy continues to crumble, there are still a number of people who will STILL not vote a non-white face, even if he/she has a better economic plan and policies.
So sad, we’ve made so much progress, but there are still people with the mindset as if we were still being segregated.
Four years of McCain and Palin would be unbearable.
Let’s just hope we get the change we need.
These last 8 years under the Bush adminstration have been nearly a decade of misery and disaster on all fronts, for this nation. Everything negative which other nations think of Americans, were embodied by Bush himself.

FIDEL CASTRO IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT RIGHT. THE REASON WHY WHITE PEOPLE DON’T LIKE HIM IS THAT HE ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH. I TOO CANNOT SEE A WHITE PERSON VOTING FOR A BLACK MAN, I DON’T THINK THEY CAN GET PAST THEIR RACISM, IT’S IN THEIR DNA.

I think it can. That is why Obama needs to sustain these big leads because when white people go in those booths with the curtains drawn ain’t no telling what those crackers will do. People want to talk about Obama getting assassinated. McCain and Palin isn’t safe either. God forbid if some like this does happen, black people would lay the blame on McCain and Palin, because they injected these thoughts in white racist minds.
About the damn Clintons - the biggest fair weather fans if I have ever seen one. Now that Obama is up by double digits percentage points and vitory seems evitable, now they are out shouting Obama from the mountain tops.

————Well Castro –I think he should address his own issues of race bias——————- in Cuba before focusing on the US. YES the US is inheritantly racist and—————- believes in continuing status quo but I believe that Obama transcends ———————race in this country like so few before him there are some who can be ———————–black and still appeal to whites as well as other races and at this time ——————–when our country to suffering an economic down turn we are looking less—————–at race and more at who can best serve us to lead us. And yes the racists of this country will remain racists but I do not believe that is the majority of America–at least I hope not—and if McCain wins they will be the most hurt because he doesnt give too ish about those below his economic line-best believe.

Racism is not going anywhere, anytime soon. When I volunteered to help register people the vote, I became more hopeful than I have this whole campaign. I saw people of all races, creeds, and age registering to vote. I saw so much overwhelming support for Obama and hopefully that support will turn into votes. I think a majority of people are willing to put race a side a look at the bigger picture. The biggest key is for each person to not get discouraged and actually vote. Pay attention to the ballot and make sure you are picking the particular candidate and party you are actually voting for. If you are not sure about something do not be afraid to ask questions, that’s why election officials are hired. Also remember that some states are really enforcing the NO PARAPHERNALIA within 10 feet of polling places this election. Best bet is to not where anything past being in your vehicle, vote, and put your paraphernalia back on once you get back to you car.

I am a diehard Obama supporter, but I have to agree with Castro….I just don’t think this country will vote a black man into the presidency. I know that most of the polls say Obama has a ’slight lead’ over McCain, but truthfully, these polls are meaningless, what counts is what people do once they are inside that voting booth. Obama has my vote, but I have a sinking feeling that he won’t have enough votes on election day to win……no, I’m not a pessimist, just realistic. For Obama to have a ’slight lead’ over McCain is very troubling, as McCain is not a formidable candidate and Obama should have significant high double digit lead….and why doesn’t he? Because there are a lot of white people who would never vote for him even if he found the cure to cancer, AIDS and world hunger

The world is watching… waiting…. expect the unexpected if Obama does not get into office…. Bush has rec’d the security threats already much like Clinton did but as much as they wanted to blame and say Clinton knew they waited until Bush was officially elected …. but see the world leaders are tight with anything Bush sins of the past is what 9-11 was Bush leaves behind more sins then poppa Bush. So essentially we take our chances on one black man or another fatal disaster?
Sarah Palin cleared? Why? Until the election is over of course… someone paid a man that paid a man to keep quiet…. that’s how that goes..

THE THIRD HEADLINE IS MISLEADING; SARAH PALIN WAS IN FACT FOUND TO HAVE ABUSED HER POWER BY PRESSURING THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSIONER TO FIRE HER EX-BROTHER-IN-LAW. THEREFORE SHE VIOLATED ETHICS LAW. HOWEVER, THE TERMINATION WAS NOT UNLAWFUL BECAUSE IT WAS WITHIN HER RIGHT AS GOVERNOR TO TERMINATE WHOMEVER SHE PLEASES.
I AM TIRED OF THIS SPIN AND BS! IF YOU CLAIM TO BE A “MAVERICK” AND A “WASHINGTON OUTSIDER”, THEN WHY ARE YOU DOING WHAT EVERY OTHER POLITICIAN DOES? SARAH PALIN IS CORRUPT, ENGAGES IN CRONYISM, AND IS COMPLETELY UNETHICAL. SHE WANTS TO EXPAND THE POWERS OF THE VP? YIKES!
UNFORTUNATELY FOR OBAMA, FIDEL IS CORRECT. THERE ARE MANY AMERICANS WHO WOULD NOT VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE THEY ARE RACIST. THE REST OF THE WORLD LOVES OBAMA, BUT A LOT OF HIS FELLOW CITIZENS DO NOT. FIRST, Palin said that she wasn’t guilty HERSELF. Hello??????? WTF!!!!! If I robbed a bank but didn’t want to get in trouble, I’d say I wasn’t guilty either!!!!!! She actually did violate her states’ ethics law: you can read more about it here:
http://www.jedreport.com/...to-learn-how-to-read.html
Verdict: SHE’S GUILTY!!!!!!!
SECOND, WHY, WHY, WHY are y’all listening to CASTRO???? Latin American countries have their racism too, just like the US and blacks in Cuba live in a racially hostile society just like blacks in the US. *SHAKING MY DAMN HEAD* at these comments about Obama not winning because of racism. Y’ALL need to STOP listening to the stupid corporate media who have a vested financial interest in making it seem like this race is closer than it is. You can read more about Obama “not winning” here: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
If you look on the left side, Obama’s projection to win is 94.9%. That means there’s an almost 95% chance Obama WILL WIN!!! SO IF EVERYONE VOTES (INCLUDING ALL THE WHITE PEOPLE WHO DO SUPPORT OBAMA AND WANT A CHANGE) it will be a landslide. LANDSLIDE!!!!
Please investigate for yourself and don’t believe everything you read… OBAMA ‘08!

It’s a real shame that black people are voting for Obama simply because he’s a brotha. Let’s be real, what if he is tied to Al Quaida as reports have insisted? Will you be supporting him when NY or your own city is nuked by terrorist because of him? McCain and Pail are no better but at least terrorist aren’t tied to their past and they don’t have a former paster to make racists comments publicly about another race as Wright did. And don’t even get me started on that racist hate group called ACCORN. They’re dirty doings also tied to Obama (what isn’t?) will be the downfall of him.
You call whites racist but 99% of the comments on Concreet Loop are as racists as they get. Crackers, the devil, whites this and that. That’s all that coems out of your mouths on here. You wanna see who the real racists are then look in the mirror hypocrits.

Who said they would vote for Obama because he is a bortha? Aren’t there plenty of whites that vote for McCain just because he’s white?
Yes there are some racist comments on here towards McCain, but aren’t there just as many hate comments toward Obama on other blogs? The only thing is the Obama hate is much worse than the McCain hate. I’m sure you can see that for yourself because it’s out in the open. So what you should do is tell the folks that make the racist comments toward Obama, the same thing you just told us. But you won’t will you?
Oh as far as what you said about Obama, you can go hear to read some facts about him: http://fightthesmears.com/
And if you go to this site and you don’t believe any of it, then you shouldn’t believe anything from the reports you heard either.

castro himself does not have a problem with black ppl though there might be race problems in his country. he has praised black ppl on many occasion, has highlighted the fact that many cubans have african heritage, and talks about how african traditions form the backbone of cuban traditions. yes his ppl have problems with race but he doesn’t. not only that, but as vilified as he is, we tend to forget that the US has done some horrible things in other countries too and has done horrible things in their own country in the past. the US actually institutionalized racism. castro has never done that. we’ve gone to other countries and supported dictators when it was beneficial too us (i.e. Papa Doc-the US didn’t like him at first but when he started getting closer to castro they tried to get on his good side- they even had the nerve to stop the ppl from overthrowing him which they kind of had the right to do since he was killing and torturing them. he was much worse than castro). at the end of the day, no country is perfect. they’ve all done some horrible things so just b/c he’s castro doesn’t mean he doesn’t have good views on certain issues. that is all

First of all, this is not new! Everyone should know by now that some people are so stuck in their ways, that they will not vote for Obama solely based on the fact that he is not all white. NO, not all republicans are racist, but you can bet that some are! My question is: why can’t many whites get passed the fact that Obama is a white man as well as a black man? I mean, what is so wrong with the man saying that he is biracial?! I don’t see anything wrong with someone who is of mixed race, and who identifies that way. Is it the stupid one drop rule or what?! I think that Obama represents both races very well.

As for everyone bashing Fidel. The man has point. Unlike the promises both american candidates make, they may not get paid well but all those cubans are actually given job.
And Fidel isn’t the kind of dictator who takes the money from his people and spreads it around with his friends; he also lives a modest life like his people.
The united states is as guilty as cuba for violations to human rights as cuba…I suppose some forgot where they came from!

Castro is so right. I really think some ppl’s votes will be sway by such a racist thought. America FAKES like we’re so anti-hate but in reality, we aren’t. Schools don’t teach the value of tolerance and diversity, the media doesn’t advocate the right to learn about other cultures and the public remains so blissfully happy w/ this. I hate that the majority of ppl in this country are simply sheep. Speaking of sheep, Palin is such a fucking tool. She is the epitome of what I woman SHOULDN’T be. I can’t imagine how someone like her sleeps at night knowing she’s is being used AND does it w/ a willing smile. God, I’m so disgusted by her (and females like her who disregard the rights that were fought for by ppl who have past and those today)….

The difference between Obama and McCain on Acorn is the fact the McCain came out and said I worked with these guys on immigration. He spoke in Fl on the subject. Obama tries to play down the fact that Acorn is one of his baby’s He earmarked funds for Acorn. When asked about Acorn Obama never admits the fact that he was once their lawyer, they help him win the seat he is holding now.
And if Cuba is so great why are people risking their lives to come here. I dont know what you have been reading but Fidel lives very well. Matter of fact ask some of the folk that are willing to give up those jobs ( that is a false statment everyone in Cuba does not have a job) for the smallest bit of freedom afford to illegal immigrants

@confucius did you mean #53 not #52? i’m the one who didn’t specify who i was responding to. i just read some comments in which ppl were saying that castro shouldn’t give his opinion on the matter b/c there are race problems in his own country. i just think it’s funny that ppl know nothing about castro yet b/c our government says we should hate him, we do- nevermind the fact that our government befriends a lot of dictators who are more corrupt than castro ever has been. it just shows how blind we are.

it’s SO sad on a forum denouncing racism that someone has to resort to calling white people “crackers.” it is people like this person that cause problems

Schools are suppose to teach reading, writing, and math. Thats why it is for everyone and everyone pays for it. Value of tolerance and diversity is something that parents are responsible for. What makes of different from every body else is the fact they we all have the right to believe ( no matter what other people think about it) what ever makes our heart content. In the mist of our complaining we forget that some many people around the world are giving there life to be like Americans. Why do you think the would is paying attention to our election, and can name everybody running. I bet not one person on the site can name all the people who ran for Prime Mister in England, Canada, or Truks. America has done some bad things, but we have also acomplished this that people only dream of.
And as for Palin when you say faught for are you talking about abortion? Because first of all Abortion was legal in 4 states before Roe v wade. Second Read up on roe v wade and Doe v bolton. A group of women took two girls from bad back grounds and paraded them in front of the supreme court. Roe ( Norma L. McCorvey ) was told not to have her baby because it was by a black man. ( she was married at the time and didnt want husband to know so she claim she was raped) She didnt even have the abortion. Doe ( Sandra Cano) was told to get her kids back and to divoice her husband who was in jail, she had to get abortion. She did have an Abortion. Now both of these ladies are fighting to get there own cases overturned. These two ladies were used.
no one talks about the fact that people still die from Abortion. 13 year olds go in and have abortion without parental consent. You cant get heart transplant or breast implants without consent, but you can go and get an abortion. and lets not talk about the abortion process. You dont have to be certified to preform an abortions. Just do you eigth years of course work and you are all set to go. Abortionist are not required by law inform people of health risk or take a medical history. There is no medical group or government group to oversee Malpratice in the abortion field
and lets see Palin is a working mom, she takes care of all her kids, she is governer, she educated, and married to the same man for all most 20 year. yea hid the little girls God forbid we have one less Beyonce and one more palin. For the record I would rather Have 20 palin than 20 beyounce’

Castro has never made that much sense in his life…Race is still pertinent but I just hope it’s not the ultimate deciding factor. We’re better people than that.

Are you a McCain-Palin booster?? How do you use the headline ‘Palin Cleared” when the report clearly says she abused her power and violated state ethics laws. People who don;t take the trouble to go any further are gonna read that and think she’s innocent and been exonerated when she clearly wasn’t.
