POLITICS: VP DEBATE RECAP

Friday, October 3, 2008

vpdebate.jpg

Vice presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin aimed most of their criticism at each other’s running mate in their first and only vice presidential debate on Thursday.

Biden accused John McCain of being “out of touch” on the economic crisis and said he was “no maverick” on crucial issues facing Americans. Palin said Barack Obama was too partisan to work across party lines to accomplish change and was waving a “white flag of surrender” in Iraq.

Both camps claimed victory, but this debate is unlikely to dramatically change the presidential race. In a Rasmussen report prior to last night’s debate, just over one-third of voters (34 percent) said the debate was very important to how they would vote.

According to a CBS News/Knowledge Networks poll taken immediately following the debate, uncommitted voters who watched the debate thought Biden did the best job by a margin of more than two to one. Palin’s performance also improved overall perceptions of her with fifty-five percent saying she is prepared for the job, up from 39 percent prior to the debate. Ninety-seven percent say Biden is prepared, up from 81 percent.

All eyes were on Palin in her debut of an unscripted format following her gaffes in recent weeks, who used a steady grin, folksy manner and carefully scripted talking points to punch and persist, both politically and politely, with criticism. Palin used terms such as “heck of a lot” and “Main Streeters like me” to appeal to working-class and middle-class voters who feel abandoned by Washington, pledging that she and McCain would work for the middle-class. She mostly succeeded by not failing in any obvious way, reverting to and repeating talking points such as calling McCain a “maverick” while not necessarily easing any doubts voters may have about her depth of knowledge.

Biden’s adviser were worried that a single gaffe on his part might shift the attention off of Palin. Biden has made memorable gaffes since the beginning, but none of them have been devastating since he is notorious for misspeaking. Most of it comes from his tendency to ramble when giving a speech, answering reporters’ questions or just chatting with voters. He remained forceful and composed during the debate, and both he and Palin were able to avert any major screw-ups.

In case you missed it, you can check out the debate online in its entirety.

That debate was a joke and a waste of time. Sarah Palin is not ready for this position and she proved that last night.

Her rehearsed answers even had Joe Biden looking like WTF! I know you heard him breathing all hard when she was talking, she was all over the place! She basically answered like 3 questions last night and if then went back to her talking points. It made my head hurt.

Biden did a great job, under those circumstances though.

She didn’t fall flat on her face, which was surprising, but she still doesn’t have any depth. You could tell it was all surface level stuff. It was as though she was reading from a script. Joe Biden was perfect (in my unbiased opinion, lol)

If Sarah Palin didn’t make all those mistakes in the Katie Couric inteviews, she would have had a horrible debate. Because of those miscues, the bar or expectations were so low, anything short of major fuck up, would seem satisfactory. And she basically, made statemtents on topics even if the questions on those topics were not asked. Many times when Gwen asked her about a particular topic, Sarah would say “lets talk about taxes” or “lets talk about energy.” I was listening out for Gwen to say “Bitch, that’s not what asked you.” All in all she did what she had to do, she did not help the McCain-Palin ticket but most importantly she didn’t kill it.

I admire Palin for trying but if she would have said the work “Alaska” or “Maverick” again I was going to puck. She never answered a question dead on and she kept repeating the same thing. Now I can’t saw that Binden knows more politically, but i do know that Palin showed how much she does not know.

I actually thought Palin did a good job last night. Of course everybody will knock her here because it’s 100% Obama supporters. I’m not affiliated with any party so I have the liberty to think outside the box. She did good. Not great. She kept making “references” because she has to relate questions to experience that she has since people keep calling her inexperienced.

I think Joe did a good job in his counter attacks, especially when he went off on McCain being a Maverick. There were a few times where I believe Joe had to collect his thoughts first before he answered.

Both candidates did a good job in their own right.

17.

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

LMAO @ these comments.

I agree that Palin was all over the place. She didn’t answer not one question directly, however, her strategy was brillant! LOL, she was dodging questions & throwing daggers @ Biden. Bringing up Biden’s own comments about how he’d be honored to run w/ McCain & that Barack wasn’t ready to be President. And also about how, Biden had agreed w/ almost all McCain’s positions until he became VP.

Overall, I think Biden won. He stuck to focusing on how an Obama/Biden ticket differed from a McCain/Palin one. The entire debate was so funny to me. I dunno, I guess I was alone. ;)

Joe Biden did the best. It seems like when Sarah Palin didn’t know the answer she talked about what she did in Alaska or compared everything to her family. Palin we don’t need to know about your family or what you did in Alaska . We need to know how you and John McCain is gone fix this economy

20.

*Sigh*

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

@ 15

That’s good point. Palin kept making references to her experience & what she’s bring to D.C.,

It was big of Biden to give her credit for the things that she did get accomplished in Alaska. Biden mostly kept his attacks on McCain, as opposed to attacking her. Which was a good strategy.

When are people going to realize what’s going on here in this country is not a joke?!!It takes more than having a quick wit and being able to see Alaska from your home to run this country. I don’t know about some people but I’m not looking for someone to make me laugh, I’m looking for someone to help get us out of the economic crisis we’re in. Maybe if Palin were running for VP of the neighborhood high school she’d have my vote, but not to run my country.

THIS ELECTION IS SERIOUS! People like her because she relates to them? Who cares! She sure as hell doesn’t relate to me. I want someone who is going to get us out of all these crisis’ that keep popping up everyday. And for some odd reason I don’t think it will be the McCain/Palin ticket.

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

How can you says she did a good job when she didn’t answer one question. Biden challenged her on McCain’s record and she didn’t correct him. She just kept going back to what she rehearsed. You can tell either she was reading a teleprompter or her note cards. She had to make sure she hit those items which she was preparing for. I mean if she said surge one more time. Not everyone in America is a Hockey mom. I still don’t think she is a good candidate she is not ready she didn’t make any decisions about the Natinal guard in her state. She couldn’t even say what the Bush Adm. has done wrong.

for starters #6 raises a valid point “If Sarah Palin didn’t make all those mistakes in the Katie Couric inteviews, she would have had a horrible debate. Because of those miscues, the bar or expectations were so low, anything short of major fuck up, would seem satisfactory”

***that is so true…..cuz i was one of the ppl that felt she didnt do nearly as bad as i expected but then again, she dodged SO many questions. i wanted them both to tell her ass, that wasnt the topic at hand….i mean what killed me is when she stated “i may not answer the way you want me to but i will speak to the american ppl” or sum’n to that nature and that was a got damn cop out…..the ding bat only wanted to speak on what she previously rehearsed….just like matt lauer said on the TODAY show this morning, it was like she CRAMMED b4 a major test…

26.

I'm just sayin...

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

The debate was excellent. I remained open and I thought Palin did a good job of repairing some of her earlier gaffes, however overall she gave pat answers. There were a couple of questions that she never answered and I didn’t hear a definitive plan about what I heard at times was what her and McCain did in the past.

When asked about the bailout she reverted back to the energy question and was clear and also stuck on the quite awhile on that topicbecause that is her specialty. Other then that nothing else she said was clear. Even when she spoke about what was near and dear to her heart there was no plan.

She was misleading on the questions she did answer in her response about more then a few of Obama’s decisions while in Senate his comments over the course of his career to date. She remained in control, she sounded passionate as she read her notes and she looked directly at the camera which was annoying at times. So she met the expectations as they said but she also said a whole lotta nuttin! lol..

Biden started off a little slow but I liked that he kept the eye on McCain’s policies and proposals. Maybe a little too much at times but he definately drove the key points home about the facts when Palin tended to be misleading. Biden was misleading on a couple of points as well but not as often as Palin.

Anyway, on a whole the debate was interesting. I have a better insight on Palin and who she is as governor and as a potential VP. Because the role of the VP has changed over the last eight years I think Palin would be great in her areas of specialty which is energy and special needs children but as a VP having insight, knowledge and facts about topics across the board or heaven forbid acting President noooooooooo.

Obama/Biden all the way!

Was it just me…but Sarah Palin only answered but like 3 questions???
She is such a joke and a disgrace to what a true vice president should represent!
I would hate of they do win for anything to happen to ole man McCain because that would mean that she would rule this country…what a tragedy! All she could do was talk about Alaska, energy and drilling…since she did so much for Alaska…go back to being a governor!

28.

Wow I expected you guys to be much harder on her.

Well anyway it’s always funny to read and hear the reports that they did fight enough, I thought this was the first debate I can remenber where they were talking about issues and not each others families, but people dont want to hear that they want some mud slinging. They both almost presented the issues truthfully and if you took everything they said or McCain and Obama said at face value you might want to brush up on the issues yourself. Neither debate made me change my mind I was for McCain before Palin. I’m not sure I would want Joe one heart beat away either, for all the reasons Clinton and Obama said, as well as what he says.
Like I said before who ever wins, this will still be America. Who ever is Presedent is at the will of the congress. I dont see much of a change coming from either person, but I do believe that McCain has more achievable goals than Obama.

Hands down Biden did an awesome job- palin on the other hand was all over the place and shaky when it came time to answer questions. She probably answered two questions but she kept going back to what she was comfortable with. She kept going back to the topic of energy. She has repeatedly said Obama doesn’t have enough experience but she spent alot of time at mccain house for debate boot camp. LOL and a big joke. I was disappointed when palin could not give straight answers about the mccain health plan and the war.
I’m glad the debate ended because at the end biden looked like he was about to go off and send her back to alaska. But I give Palin a “T” for trying and Biden a “C” for keeping his cool when palin keep trying to related to soccer moms

I agree w/Dukesman2000. Expectations were so low that since she didn’t crash and burn it was considered a victory. She did not answer the questions presented just stuck to her “script”. And that “folksy” attitude was annoying as shit to me. But I am sure some people will eat it up.

33.

What?

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

Ok is it just me or did anyone else hear her refer to him as O’Biden? Sarah Palin is a mess and I don’t like how she just DIDN’T answer some questions. Even when she was asked to answer specific questions she just flat out said no. And she did this cause those answers were not on her little script that she had prepared for her. If you are going to debate, be totally prepared. The bar shouldn’t have to be lowered because your opponent is not on the same level. But that’s just me. What do I know?

34.

Angel, lmao yes I did hear him with the exasperated breathes. But I must admit, I believe she reached the “white moms” of America. CNN brought this to my attention this morning that that is who she was trying to reach, the hockey moms, joe six-pack, etc….. She reached them not because they actually were listening to what she didn’t say but because of her delivery (hick in motion) and also they want to believe in her because they don’t want to vote for Obama.

@ Angel

Palin was not the the best VP pick that McCain could have went with. He obviously picked her for political gain stemming from the whole Hilary/Obama fiasco.

But in terms of the debate. I think she did prove that she was not as lost as many people tried to make her out to be after the whole “Couric” fiasco. She made some good points last night and had a good strategy in her debate.

She is no Harvard grad like our good friend Obama, but she did manage to run a government in Alaska, which is part of our country, despite everyone treating it like a foreign country.

I AGREE PALIN NOT READY FOR THAT POSITION, BUT I THINK SHE MAKES A GOOD POLITICAN

BIDEN HAS MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE…ASIDE FROM BEING A BIG MOUTH FROM TIME TO TIME(WHICH I LIKE HONESTLY I DON’T WANT HIM TO BE PERFECT)…BIDEN KNOWS HIS SH*T

LOL@Angel: “Keep it real, she isn’t ready.. she can’t even bull-shit like a regular politician.”

Let’s face it: she’s not ready, and that’s coming from neither a Democrat nor Republican.

The only reason the whole world is buzzing with her is because she’s considered attractive. She’s not taken seriously, and until she shows that she can actually do what needs to be done and say what needs to be said, she shouldn’t be. She’s nothing more than a piece of eye candy, and it seems to be working to McCain’s advantage because people actually think he has a chance.

This is a woman who can’t name any other landmark Supreme Court case aside from Roe v. Wade. I mean, come on! Plessy v Ferguson? Brown v Board of Education? BAKKE?! None of these ring a bell? C’mon, Sarah, you’ve got to do better. And America has to do better if they actually think that she’s ready.

If, just if, McCain wins and something happens to him, would you really want Palin as president?

46.

I Can't Go For That!!!

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

I thought Palin’s Folk/Hick talk was insulting and pushing towards a “Dumb it Down” strategy to slide through the debate.

Joe Biden really held back in my opinion, but really showed he knew his stuff and didn’t allow Palin to back him into a corner!

All in all both seemed to hold their ground!

But if this was a test of a true Vice President then Joe Biden was the student who did his homework, and paid attention in class; while Palin fumbled and flopped to pull the only all nighter in order to pass!

She was well rehearsed. she didn’t do bad by any means but she shouldnt have, she practiced and had her note cards with her. Notice when she couldn’t find a card that had her answers on it, she changed the subject. I wished Biden would’ve been able to let loose on her like he may have wanted to but I understand that even though shes a cougar (or whatever) in lipstick and wants to be treated no differently than the men, if he would’ve done that, then he would’ve been attacking poor lil sarah

Anyone who would vote McCain/Palin after her flubs with Katie Couric and Charles Gibson, as well as her circular debate tactics is beyond foolish. McCain is old and sick and she should not be a heartbeat away from Presidency. Historically, president’s who came in that far in age didn’t live past their first term. Sure, Biden would be a heartbeat away as well, but he is obviously more qualified to be in that position than her. But it’s not even about Palin. McCain does not care about normal people like he says. His voting record reflects that. The main reason why he picked Palin was to try to relate to “normal” people and it was a failed attempt. Just because she’s pretty, funny, and jumpier than a jack rabbit in July doesn’t say ANYTHING about her qualifications.

In perspective: Bush’s approval rating is shot to hell. McCain’s campaign still has YET to make a valid number of points where he differs from Bush. Why would the American people want this mess to continue? Maverick my ass! Put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.

I rest.

Friday, October 3, 2008 /

Wow, where do I begin:

1. I have a HUGE problem with Palin boasting herself and McSame as bringing forth real change in Washington. McSame has been in Washington for 26+ years, how in the hell could anything he bring forth be new? Give me a break.

2. The fact that Palin showed up was a victory for Republicans. Let’s be real people, expectations were extremely low for her and that is NOT something to be proud of.

3. Am I the only one that sees her references to Joe Six-Pack and Hockey Mom’s only encompassing white America? How many black Hockey Moms do you know? I am not saying that they don’t exist, but be real about the fact that the image of an African-American mom doesn’t pop into your head when she (or anybody else for that matter) says ‘Hockey Mom.’

4. With the election 32 days away, when will the McSame campaign reach out to minority voters? The campaign already turned their backs on Michigan. This strategy reminds me of Hillary in the primaries where she abandoned certain Southern states, because they were predominately black. I am proud of the Obama campaign for not, for example, abandoning white males just because he’s black. That is the difference in both campaigns. Obama reaches out to everyone for the greater good of all America, not just wealthy America.

5. Although I respect Gwen Ifill, I was disappointed in her questions that seemed to offer multiple choice options. She gave Palin the opportunity to shuffle for the right note card. Just ask the question and not offer options to the person answering the question.

6. @ Palin Stan - if another person comes down on Obama for his educational background, I will scream. So what he and Michelle are Ivy League educated. I am proud of them both, as well as every other person in this country for overcoming their family of origin. They came from humble beginnings and still had the courage and strength to reach for so much more. That should be applauded and not reduced to one liners labeling them as ‘elistist.’

I shall breath now…oh wait, one more thing - How outrageous of Palin to send a shout out during a debate?! Are you kidding me? Telling third graders (at some school) that they will receive extra credit for watching this debate. Please, please get out and vote America and quickly send this woman BACK to Alaska.

First of all Gov. Palin has been “seqestered” for more than a week cramming information so she doesn’t come accross as a bigger idiot than she already appeared to be after her interviews with Katie Couric. If she had any FUBARS after all of that it would have been time to send her and her tribe back to Alaska!! And if you watch the debate, those were answers very pat “learned” answers, not given from knowlege of her own.

But my question is this, why in order to appeal to the “average” American, do you have to come off sounding like an imbecile?? So in other words they feel Americans need to talked down to, “on their level”?? I’m sorry, I’m not American, but anyone with common sense would have been slightly offended!! And what the hell does “folksy” mean??? If their “ticket” wins is she going to be the “President” of the Senate and lead them with a wink & a smile.

She spent the evening rebuilding her image and not really helping her Principal, she didn’t answer the questions put to her, which is an evasive tactic used by people who want to avoid issues they know nothing about and how can you be #2 and be unable to answer questions on legislation, the economy or what your administration would due in face of the bail out to cut costs?!!!!

Score points Sen Biden & Obama who did what he was supposed to do attack the opposition and support his candidate, help, not hurt help him!!

Only in America, will we make a virtually uneducated white woman look credible because she showed up and didn’t fall of the stage. She didn’t answer any of her questions. She was very robotic. I’m tired to people saying somehow she recaptured her spirit from the Convention, she didn’t even come close to that person. She continues to deliver stump speech material. Frankly, her performance was an insult. Painful Palin yet again proved that the bar is lower, much lower for white women. Pundits from both camps are saying, “Oh it was close.” HOW. It wasn’t like the Obama/McCain debate where you couldn’t really determine a winner. ALL POLLS have unanimously stated that Biden won, and by at leasta 20% margin. Am I missing something? If Obama got up, and stumbled, and miscalled a leaders name the way Palin did, it would be running on every news channel for weeks.

And, I am tired of this insulting Joe Six Pack analogy. I had better be careful using such a highlevel word the Palin folks because they are obviously skeptical of anyone with education. Why is it that the middle class has to be a “Joe Six Pack.” Why do we think because this woman is a walking nutcase that somehow she connects with the average man. When did it become hot to be average? When did it become a crime to reach the highest levels of education if its possible? I am tired to the nigga mentality that is being displayed by both Democrats and Republicans.

Nigga Mentality (Niggas are not black people, they are a certain type of people)
*Hates Education
*Talks stuff about anyone who does have an education
*Is proud of mediocrity
*Think its hot to be average

Republicans who are tired of niggas.

If last night didn’t prove how much this election is, I don’t know what will. PLEASE VOTE AND GET OTHERS TO VOTE!!!!!!

Great job Biden, with sticking to the issues and answering the questions. You could tell at times he was “are you serious, I’m up here debating this?”

Palin, SIT DOWN. The little jokes are cute and all if this was a little high school debate about school lunches, but this isn’t. We have serious things going on in this world and honey your not taking it seriously and your just are not ready! The things she say have no meaning. All she is doing is repeating a scrip. Yea, she passed for her standard, but the election is a month away. If she don’t have it now, she is not going to get it! If this was election for a city mayor or something, yea I just might like her, but this is too big of position for us to sit here and accept the bull crap she is giving us.

!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE GET REGISTERED TO VOTE AND GET OUT TO THE POLLS TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think I will ever take Sarah Palin or even John McCain seriously. Sarah Palin failed out of 2 community colleges and now she’s John McCain’s running mate. WTF??? The entire time she was going around in circles with her answers ,she made NO sense. And at the end she says “I enjoyed my time answering all those tough questions”. Oh my god lady go back to Alaska and get a grip on yourself and your family.

Biden did a good job, it seemed like he was trying really hard to understand Palin’s answers, and keeping up when she would run off. Lets rock the vote ppl Obama/Biden ‘08 ….Lord knows we don’t need another republican in office.

@ 50

Perhpas YOU should review Cnn, because she wasn’t lying when she spoke about Biden’s gaffes. Biden did state (& the McCain camp even used video footage after he was selected for VP) that McCain would make a better commander and chief, and that he would be honored to run w/ McCain. Also stating that Obama was too inexperienced to be President. Biden smiled because he knew she was right.

@ Palin Stan, WTF!!! If you know this what the hell are you on the site for??!!!!!

I AM AND OBAMA STAN!!! Not because he’s black but because I believe in his message, I believe he is genuine and he can definately handle the job, no matter what situation he is faced with!! Further more, I think Sen. Biden is more qualified to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency!!

People always side step the issue, I agree with Whoopi on the View that said the only person qualified to be President is a former President who has done the job and knows what it takes!! That being said, I think Sentors Obama & Biden make a good case for the fact that its time for change, the “regular folk” that “regular Americans” voted for with Bush/Cheney and by extention McCain/Palin have not been a help but a hinderance to Americans!! You are at war facing a deficit and a recession of catastrophic proportions move forward Obama/Biden 08!!

Sarah was successful in winning over the demographic that she was aiming for. 96% of black folks are voting for Obama–regardless if Palin was on point w/ “natural” responses. I’d respect folks more if they’d just admit that they don’t agree w/ what she stands for. But to just blantantly state that she’s inexperienced & doesn’t know what she’s doing, is a lie. This woman has executive experience. Palin has ran a country, balanced budgets & crossed party lines to get legislations passed. But people still doubt her? Why? Because she’s not the best orator? This woman has only been running for VP for the past 5 weeks, Biden has been in politics for the past 30 years, & running for President on & off since since Palin was in the 2nd garde (LOL)! If he would lost to Palin, it would have been an embaressment on his part, he should be well versed on the politics in D.C.

Obama was not the best debater either. Some of those debates during the primaries were an embaressment! I think people should review some of Obama’s earlier performances before they throw dirt on Palin.

*sigh* — you make me sigh… ugh..

So Palin has run a country now? Gaffe much?

and Joe Biden has stepped across the “aisle” many times and he was coherent enough to bring that out numerous times in the debate! To be in these positions, you have to think on your feet and know what you’re talking about; not memorize answers and keep talking about energy!

FYI - I was a Hillary supporter in the primaries and I was undecided until a few weeks ago. What does that tell you? I can think for myself. I am not voting for Obama because he is black. No one is “throwing dirt” on FAILin. She dug her own grave.

@ ANGEL, “That debate was a joke and a waste of time.”

I STRONGLY DISAGREE W/ THIS STATEMENT. I THINK THAT THE COUNTRY NEEDED TO SEE PALIN IN THE CONTEXT OF A DEBATE ALONG W/ THE INTERVIEWS (OR LACK THERE OF.) TO SAY THAT IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME NEGATES THE PROCESS OF ALLOWING PEOPLE TO EXCERSIZE THEIR RIGHT TO CHOOSE BASED OFF OF WHAT SHE HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE ISSUES, BE IT GENUINE OR SPOON FED.
NOW W/ THAT BEING SAID WE CAN ALL CERTAINLY SEE BY WHAT SHE HAD TO SAY HOW READY SHE WOULD BE AS A THE VP. I THINK WITH THE DEBATE FORUM WHAT WAS EVIDENT TO MOST AMERICANS, SHE AS W/ BIDEN, DID A BETTER JOB THAN EXPECTED. EVEN I WAS IMPRESSED W/ HOW SHE CONTAINED HER COMPOSURE. HOWEVER FOR ME, THIS DEBATE JUST EMPHASIZED HER LACK OF EXPERIENCE OF NATIONAL GOVERNING AND REITERATED THE SAME POLITICS OF THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION SHARED W/ HER RUNNING MATE, JOHN MCCAIN.

At #33 i did notice that and did anyone notice she said the commanding general in afghanistan is General McClellan-wrong McClellan is dead. the commanding gerneral is David McKiernan -for the mccain camp who wants to continue the invasion somebody need to slap her. i understand we all make mistakes but talk what you know. She only reach sports moms not moms who work two jobs just to keep food on the table or the stay at home moms who lost not only their husbands in the invasion but on 9/11 and now have no choice but to go back to work. Palin is so out of touch - My vote is for Obama/Biden because they touch the everyday lives of everybody from the widows to worker class to the single moms going to school and holding down a full time job.

I’m glad somebody said it. If that woman was not cute she would be kicking rocks somewhere. Hilary Clintons manly looking self had to have makeovers and be on top of her shit 24/7 and she still lost. Now this tourettes having idiot gets a pass for everything. They kept saying Biden better not attack her, he better not call her Sarah. The first thing she says,”Can I call you Joe?”. OH SHE IS SOOO RESPECTFUL. WTF? I’ll be glad when this shit is over. I’m tired of this bullshit. Both sides have said some stupid things but Sarah Palin is just plain stupid.

@ 66 please see my comment on # 64 —> thanks.

My point was that she’s only been running for this position for the last 5 weeks, and her opponent is someone that has been involved in politics for the last 30 years. Not to mention that he’s been running for President for @ 20 years. She has to combat his knowledge & wisdom somehow. When Obama’s experience was in question, I believe his response (or the response of his supporters) was that he’d surround himself w/ people that were more experienced than him. I guess only Obama is entitled to the benefit of the doubt. SMH

It was OK I suppose. Biden did better, but Palin performed far better than expected. She started off a bit shaky still using her “hockey mom” references but she did respectably and didnt mess up.

Of course the requisite mud slinging at each other’s presidential candidate got out of hand, if you ask me. Sometimes I just wish polliticians could answer a straight question, without letting the focus turn exclusively onto the candidates’ standpoints on various issues.

I really don’t know what changes will be made to the economy, by whoever’s in power, but it’s sure gonna be hard for free-market proponents to forgo that model for America. Deregulated economy has really bit this country in the butt, and serious questions must answered about its failings.

@ PEEPLPAYATTENSHUN

In my opinion, it was a joke and a waste of Biden’s, Gwen Ifills, and personally MY TIME. If she couldn’t answer simple questions during a CBS interview, how did you expect her to do during a debate? Of course we needed to see her in that type of platform and GUESS WHAT? She fell flat on her face. Biden couldn’t even go hard like he wanted to because she was talking in so many circles everyone was confused. She never really answered any questions, she stuck to the script the McCain camp crammed into her head the night before. IT was a damn joke and I was this close to pulling an Elvis and shooting a hole in my T.V.

She did better than expected, because like someone said above, the bar was lowered. Give me a break, people need to get serious and quit giving this woman all these passes.

IMO, the reason why everyone is giving her so many “good praises” and “pats on the back”" is simply because she didn’t fall flat on her face like most people anticipated!!

She is not ready to be VP let alone Pres is McCain kicks the bucket!!

Her shoes were cute though…LMAO
