That debate was a joke and a waste of time. Sarah Palin is not ready for this position and she proved that last night.

Her rehearsed answers even had Joe Biden looking like WTF! I know you heard him breathing all hard when she was talking, she was all over the place! She basically answered like 3 questions last night and if then went back to her talking points. It made my head hurt.

Biden did a great job, under those circumstances though.

She didn’t fall flat on her face, which was surprising, but she still doesn’t have any depth. You could tell it was all surface level stuff. It was as though she was reading from a script. Joe Biden was perfect (in my unbiased opinion, lol)

If Sarah Palin didn’t make all those mistakes in the Katie Couric inteviews, she would have had a horrible debate. Because of those miscues, the bar or expectations were so low, anything short of major fuck up, would seem satisfactory. And she basically, made statemtents on topics even if the questions on those topics were not asked. Many times when Gwen asked her about a particular topic, Sarah would say “lets talk about taxes” or “lets talk about energy.” I was listening out for Gwen to say “Bitch, that’s not what asked you.” All in all she did what she had to do, she did not help the McCain-Palin ticket but most importantly she didn’t kill it.

I actually thought Palin did a good job last night. Of course everybody will knock her here because it’s 100% Obama supporters. I’m not affiliated with any party so I have the liberty to think outside the box. She did good. Not great. She kept making “references” because she has to relate questions to experience that she has since people keep calling her inexperienced.

I think Joe did a good job in his counter attacks, especially when he went off on McCain being a Maverick. There were a few times where I believe Joe had to collect his thoughts first before he answered.

Both candidates did a good job in their own right.

Bringing up Biden’s own comments about how he’d be honored to run w/ McCain & that Barack wasn’t ready to be President. And also about how, Biden had agreed w/ almost all McCain’s positions until he became VP.

Overall, I think Biden won. He stuck to focusing on how an Obama/Biden ticket differed from a McCain/Palin one. The entire debate was so funny to me. I dunno, I guess I was alone.

It was big of Biden to give her credit for the things that she did get accomplished in Alaska. Biden mostly kept his attacks on McCain, as opposed to attacking her. Which was a good strategy.

The debate was excellent. I remained open and I thought Palin did a good job of repairing some of her earlier gaffes, however overall she gave pat answers. There were a couple of questions that she never answered and I didn’t hear a definitive plan about what I heard at times was what her and McCain did in the past.

When asked about the bailout she reverted back to the energy question and was clear and also stuck on the quite awhile on that topicbecause that is her specialty. Other then that nothing else she said was clear. Even when she spoke about what was near and dear to her heart there was no plan.

She was misleading on the questions she did answer in her response about more then a few of Obama’s decisions while in Senate his comments over the course of his career to date. She remained in control, she sounded passionate as she read her notes and she looked directly at the camera which was annoying at times. So she met the expectations as they said but she also said a whole lotta nuttin! lol..

Biden started off a little slow but I liked that he kept the eye on McCain’s policies and proposals. Maybe a little too much at times but he definately drove the key points home about the facts when Palin tended to be misleading. Biden was misleading on a couple of points as well but not as often as Palin.

Anyway, on a whole the debate was interesting. I have a better insight on Palin and who she is as governor and as a potential VP. Because the role of the VP has changed over the last eight years I think Palin would be great in her areas of specialty which is energy and special needs children but as a VP having insight, knowledge and facts about topics across the board or heaven forbid acting President noooooooooo.

Well anyway it’s always funny to read and hear the reports that they did fight enough, I thought this was the first debate I can remenber where they were talking about issues and not each others families,but people dont want to hear that they want some mud slinging. They both almost presented the issues truthfully and if you took everything they said or McCain and Obama said at face value you might want to brush up on the issues yourself. Neither debate made me change my mind I was for McCain before Palin. I’m not sure I would want Joe one heart beat away either, for all the reasons Clinton and Obama said, as well as what he says.
Like I said before who ever wins, this will still be America. Who ever is Presedent is at the will of the congress. I dont see much of a change coming from either person, but I do believe that McCain has more achievable goals than Obama.

I agree w/Dukesman2000. Expectations were so low that since she didn’t crash and burn it was considered a victory. She did not answer the questions presented just stuck to her “script”. And that “folksy” attitude was annoying as shit to me. But I am sure some people will eat it up.

Palin was not the the best VP pick that McCain could have went with. He obviously picked her for political gain stemming from the whole Hilary/Obama fiasco.

But in terms of the debate. I think she did prove that she was not as lost as many people tried to make her out to be after the whole “Couric” fiasco. She made some good points last night and had a good strategy in her debate.

She is no Harvard grad like our good friend Obama, but she did manage to run a government in Alaska, which is part of our country, despite everyone treating it like a foreign country.

McCain is old and sick and she should not be a heartbeat away from Presidency. Historically, president’s who came in that far in age didn’t live past their first term. Sure, Biden would be a heartbeat away as well, but he is obviously more qualified to be in that position than her. But it’s not even about Palin. Wow, where do I begin:

1. I have a HUGE problem with Palin boasting herself and McSame as bringing forth real change in Washington. McSame has been in Washington for 26+ years, how in the hell could anything he bring forth be new? Give me a break.

2. The fact that Palin showed up was a victory for Republicans. Let’s be real people, expectations were extremely low for her and that is NOT something to be proud of.

3. Am I the only one that sees her references to Joe Six-Pack and Hockey Mom’s only encompassing white America? How many black Hockey Moms do you know? I am not saying that they don’t exist, but be real about the fact that the image of an African-American mom doesn’t pop into your head when she (or anybody else for that matter) says ‘Hockey Mom.’

4. With the election 32 days away, when will the McSame campaign reach out to minority voters? The campaign already turned their backs on Michigan. This strategy reminds me of Hillary in the primaries where she abandoned certain Southern states, because they were predominately black. I am proud of the Obama campaign for not, for example, abandoning white males just because he’s black. That is the difference in both campaigns. Obama reaches out to everyone for the greater good of all America, not just wealthy America.

5. Although I respect Gwen Ifill, I was disappointed in her questions that seemed to offer multiple choice options. She gave Palin the opportunity to shuffle for the right note card. Just ask the question and not offer options to the person answering the question.

6. @ Palin Stan - if another person comes down on Obama for his educational background, I will scream. So what he and Michelle are Ivy League educated. I am proud of them both, as well as every other person in this country for overcoming their family of origin. They came from humble beginnings and still had the courage and strength to reach for so much more. That should be applauded and not reduced to one liners labeling them as ‘elistist.’

Sarah was successful in winning over the demographic that she was aiming for. 96% of black folks are voting for Obama–regardless if Palin was on point w/ “natural” responses. I’d respect folks more if they’d just admit that they don’t agree w/ what she stands for. But to just blantantly state that she’s inexperienced & doesn’t know what she’s doing, is a lie. This woman has executive experience. Palin has ran a country, balanced budgets & crossed party lines to get legislations passed. But people still doubt her? Why? Because she’s not the best orator? This woman has only been running for VP for the past 5 weeks, Biden has been in politics for the past 30 years, & running for President on & off since since Palin was in the 2nd garde (LOL)! If he would lost to Palin, it would have been an embaressment on his part, he should be well versed on the politics in D.C.

Obama was not the best debater either. Some of those debates during the primaries were an embaressment! I think people should review some of Obama’s earlier performances before they throw dirt on Palin.

At #33 i did notice that and did anyone notice she said the commanding general in afghanistan is General McClellan-wrong McClellan is dead. the commanding gerneral is David McKiernan -for the mccain camp who wants to continue the invasion somebody need to slap her. i understand we all make mistakes but talk what you know. She only reach sports moms not moms who work two jobs just to keep food on the table or the stay at home moms who lost not only their husbands in the invasion but on 9/11 and now have no choice but to go back to work. My point was that she’s only been running for this position for the last 5 weeks, and her opponent is someone that has been involved in politics for the last 30 years. Not to mention that he’s been running for President for @ 20 years. She has to combat his knowledge & wisdom somehow. When Obama’s experience was in question, I believe his response (or the response of his supporters) was that he’d surround himself w/ people that were more experienced than him. I guess only Obama is entitled to the benefit of the doubt. SMH

It was OK I suppose. Biden did better, but Palin performed far better than expected. She started off a bit shaky still using her “hockey mom” references but she did respectably and didnt mess up.

Of course the requisite mud slinging at each other’s presidential candidate got out of hand, if you ask me. Sometimes I just wish polliticians could answer a straight question, without letting the focus turn exclusively onto the candidates’ standpoints on various issues.

I really don’t know what changes will be made to the economy, by whoever’s in power, but it’s sure gonna be hard for free-market proponents to forgo that model for America. Deregulated economy has really bit this country in the butt, and serious questions must answered about its failings.

In my opinion, it was a joke and a waste of Biden’s, Gwen Ifills, and personally MY TIME. If she couldn’t answer simple questions during a CBS interview, how did you expect her to do during a debate? Of course we needed to see her in that type of platform and GUESS WHAT? She fell flat on her face. Biden couldn’t even go hard like he wanted to because she was talking in so many circles everyone was confused. She never really answered any questions, she stuck to the script the McCain camp crammed into her head the night before. IT was a damn joke and I was this close to pulling an Elvis and shooting a hole in my T.V.

Biden spent the last weeks rehearsing with a woman because he is known to be a hard debator and he didn’t want to “hurt her feelings.” He even contacted Hilary for advice on how to debate women. If you noticed when she made the mistake and called the general in Afghanistan McClellan instead of General McKiernan, notice Biden did not correct her; he did not want to come off as condescending. McClellan by the way is Bush’s ex White House Press Secretary. In my opinion, treating Sarah Palin like she is a delicate flower is condescending to women on a whole.

She obviously did better that I expected…that’s for sure.

HOWEVER, a cutesy, charming persona doesn’t make up for her answers!
She stayed on her MEMORIZED talking points…never averted, which I thought was hilarious!…i was making my own personal notes as the debate went on…yeah she stayed in her comfort zone of energy she lacked substantive answers to questions; that she never answered by the way - - it’s almost like she was asked a question and she went with her own topics from her talking points. She hardly refuted any statements from biden, but when she did…it was b/c it was in her comfort zone of talking point topics.

The only thing that resonated with me was her almost convincing relatable personality. - - she definitely “repaired” her image and gave the GOP a beacon of hope…lol But she did enough studying to pass the quiz! Republican’s will always be to me…to have tunnel vision and one dimensional thinking - - they will never bring out the adverse points of the Bush administration nor McCain. Also, i have something else to say. So many people talk about, they going to vote for this person and they aren’t t even register. half of these people screaming out obama and this and that…aren’t in the voting books. most don’t know what precient to go to…on election day. I volunteer at one of dc polls for our local election..in september and half of the people in my precient didn’t even show up for that. how can people talk about change and they not even active in their local elections. on top of that, they not even register for the big one in november. what i need people to do is, get register and stop talking about what you all going to do and just do it. Also, when you do register, please no the people on the ballots. You be surprise how many people can’t even say Obama name or know who is running for president.

i guess because i study polisci i look at it a different way…think about it. the point of a vp is to compliment the president. Biden makes up for the weakness of Obama. But Palin doesnt compliment Mccain, Leiberman would have.

Palin did much better than was expected of her but the question still remains “has she proven herself as a possible worthy future VP?” My answer would have to be no. While she did not totally mess up, she did an okay job based on what was expected of her. She failed to answer any thing dead on, her rebuttals were very weak when Biden called her out on incorrect information, and she could only speak from a “hockey moms” point of view. Yes, it is great that she can relate to the people but when it comes to an elected official would you prefer someone who knew were they were talking about or someone who knew how to throw out “quirky folksy language” every 30 seconds. I mean the woman actually said “6 pack Joe” WTF. She could offer nothing of what Sarah Palin is willing to do for the country…the only thing she could ever offer is what McCain (not the McCain/Palin ticket) could do. It makes me wonder if she can even think on her own; and for a person to even wonder that about a possible VP is very scary.

As for Biden, I commend him for keeping a level head while debating with someone who apparently was only taught Debate Tactics 101 3 days ago. He answered way more questions head on and had no problem stating that he and Obama may not agree on everything but they have the same common goal. He was very professional in not calling her out on ALL the mistakes that she made (and yes she made many, but few are acknowledging that). He also had know problem stating that “yes, there may be some promises that the Obama/Biden ticket won’t be able to make good on. I love the fact that he even showed a lot of emotion while talking about having to raise his sons. He touched on all issues without having to go back to the same one as a safety net. Basically he proved to me that he is capable of handling the job. Even if Obama/Biden didn’t have my vote before last night they sure got it now.

I would have to say, I enjoyed watching the VP debates more than the presidential debates. Not because it had more substance, but because it was entertaining via Palin. I found her childish antics (i.e. winking and her lack of sophisticated vocabulary) humorous. At times when Biden was smiling, I wished I posessed the ability to read minds; if so, I bet Biden was thinking, ” Why is she a candidate?” The only information that Palin was more than willing to talk about was taxes and energy. Even when the moderator asked different questions, she dodged them in an attempt to connect with the “American People” and talk about what she knew…taxes and energy. Obviously, she was rehearsed and somewhat scripted, for she lacked in depth knowledge on a plethora of various subjects.

Either way, it didn’t sway my voting choice…it just gave me a great laugh for the day

It’s one thing to open up and be vulnerable to connect with people on a human level, but it’s another thing to keep it so “real” that it’s goes wrong! And Palin’s “folksy” manner was way overexaggerated. I know she was trying to appeal to a certain segment of America, but let’s face it- that segment she is trying to appeal to were probably already going to vote for McCain regardless.

Would she go into a job interview using such colloquial language?!?! If Obama said things like “that’s what’s up”, “what’s really good”, “holla back”, or something of that nature, DESPITE BEING AN IVY LEAGUE GRAD he would have gotten blasted for sounding uneducated, unpolished, “ghetto” and every other disparaging name in the book. Palin is beyond out of her league. She crammed two weeks in advanced, for the exam and didn’t come out on top.. Her tutor should be fined. Palin did horribly and I say that because I didn’t expect her to fail like most people did. The recent interviews she gave, allowed people to think low of her and what she was going to bring to the debate. So I knew she was going to be prepped for certain things to discuss during the debate. Most things she had NO KNOWLEDGE of at all… She didn’t say anything along the lines of how her and McCain will better our economy or even how the Bush Administration is different from McCain/Palin administration. That just shows that their in this together and the same treatment that The US have received for 8 years is the same treatment we will receive if McCain/Palin is elected.

People you must think beyond being a democrat and being a republican. Think like a INDEPENDENT and think about which administration is going to help you, your family, and those that you love, and especially the world as a whole. Who do you think will better our economy, who do you think will not only think about people with power but those that don’t have power as well, who do you think will make it as though lower and middle class people get the opportunity to be heard, who do you think will bring this country to better place something we haven’t seen in eight years????

We have a chance to make a difference in this country and we need a leader that’s going to do the best thing for EVERYONE and not just with those with power.

This debate was Hilarious. I’ll applaud Sarah on looking great. She didn’t answer answer any questions and even when Joe Biden made a factual error she didn’t even correct him. Perhaps it was because she didn’t know. I use to do pageants when Ii was in high school and it was funny to see her use the same tactics you would use in a pageant for this debate:
-Make eye contact with your viewers instead of the other contestant to create a personal relationship.
-A simple wink of an eye will capture your audience and gain points with the judges.
-Body language use is very important ie: the forward motion of the shoulders, the turn of the body frame, etc.

Joe Biden looked bored like when are you really gonna give me something to talk about. I wish he had caught her in her mistakes and exposed them, but everytime a man does that to her he is referred to as being “sexist” All of her statements were easily scripted and well practiced because she knew what to say and how to not answer questions. If Hillary had been Obama’s running mate this lady would’ve never been called as a VP. She was only brought in to make McCain appeal younger and to sway the upset women who wanted Hillary to win. My very important question: Since when does having a Harvard degree, understanding the judicial system, being a senator, etc. makes you nothing compared to a survivor of war (not a hero)? Had the roles been switched, Obama would’ve been called uneducated, inadament of speech, “he only went to war probably to get by going to jail”, etc. while McCain would’ve been called this great Amaerican who went to an Ivy League school and things. I never understand how Obama is called an elitist because he went to an Ivy league, and a socialist because he can speak well.

Yes, black do have a history of voting for Democrats, which is why I wasn’t initially that surprised that blacks were supporting Obama. However, when I started seeing a flood of emails circulating that “blacks needed to stick together & vote for the first black President who’s articulate & qualified–oh & a black wife”, I became a little suspicisious. I just finished watching the Vice Presidential Debates and I’m shocked into stupor!!! Where did the incoherent, confused, buzz-word-regurgitating Sarah Palin go???

I was on the edge of my seat in the minutes before the debate started, anticipating her blunders and hilarious quotables… but they were few and far between.

In her interview with Katie Couric, her syntax was nearly unintelligible. The transcript of the speech was appalling to read. It was like Governor Palin couldn’t hear a question, decode it, formulate an answer and phrase it articulately. I honestly thought there was something lacking in her grasp of the English Language.

BUT SOMEHOW… she has come back from what I thought was an irreparable abyss and actually did well. I don’t like rooting for others to embarrass themselves, but I think she FAR exceeded everyone’s expectations and proved, at the least, to be a competent linguist. Then again, it’s not hard to improve when there’s nowhere to go but up.

That said, we do not chose which Presidential Ticket to support based on who is the least confused or most articulate. While Palin surprised me with her lucidity, I vehemently disagree with the vast majority of the McCain/Palin platform.

I believe that Joe Biden knocked it out of the park. He stayed on topic with each question, where Palin, when flustered, always veered back to her comfort zones (her experience as a mayor/governor of Alaska and her energy policies). Biden’s answers were passionate and concise; he was clear and easy to understand. Palin and her attempts to be perceived as ‘ONE OF US’ were CUTE, but I’ll pass on the colloquialisms and take some real substance. I think its great that she was able to channel her personality into her responses - which is in direct opposition to her robotic spewing of key terms to Katie Couric - but charisma and charm do not a candidate make.

The Republic Party often criticizes Obama for being PROFESSORIAL, as they term it. They think he’s condescending and elitist. My question is: what is wrong with being well-informed, well-spoken and intelligent. I prefer that over the often folksy caricature that is Sarah Palin.

Joe Biden debated the issues. He tore down McCain’s adherence to the Bush Doctrine and the Bush Policies that have gotten us into the mess that we’re in. Palin debated to regain her own credibility…. that wasn’t the purpose of the night.

Honestly guys, I don’t recall Sarah Palin being as bad as you all are making her out to be. I felt like she was very informative to a certain extent and so was Biden. I also think she did better than Biden, only because of her reaction towards the questions because to me, they both had their superior times, and their not so great times. It was 50/50 in my opinion. But the way Palin delivered her answers were very smooth and calm, so she won it for me. Biden seemed a little uncomfortable at times. You also say she seemed so rehearsed, what? Rehearsed? A woman’s right to “choose”? A woman’s right to “choose” is only relevant in a society where there is no order and whoredom and whoremongering are encouraged, i.e. America. What about a man’s right to “choose”? Does the child only become his after it is born? According to who’s standards of life and death? We “choose” what we put on in the morning, what direction we walk or drive, or what we eat.You don’t “choose” whether a child lives or dies. Either you agree to murder the baby or not. A woman’s chance at “choosing” came before she laid down with that man. The whole “Roe vs. Wade” case is linked to the feminist movement and the systematic destruction of the household by encouraging disenchantment amongst women and it has worked. Honestly speaking, 99% of women are allegedly “empowered” and they’re still unhappy. Especially black women who are remarkably, unerringly, unhappy and malcontent. They spend their lives trying to compete with the boys because this society has convinced them that being a woman is not good enough. This is why marriages don’t last. Marriages, like pregnancies are viewed as things that are not serious and can be repaired, altered, or eradicated based on what that woman feels from moment to moment. Plus, women usually want to get married because they’re bored, want something to do, and want something that will glorify themself for however long the wedding planning and event lasts. Obviously, there are many men that encourage women to have abortions and the same rules apply but you asked me about a “woman’s right to choose” so that’s the perspective that I’m addressing.

From the spiritual perspective, the reason why America also encourages abortion is because Satan needs the blood of children to sustain his kingdom. Palin, McCain, and these guys are playing a role. They could care less if abortion is repealed and I’d be shocked if it ever was. All ancient empires engaged in ritual child sacrifice to their pagan gods and America is no different. At least Obama is a Senator of a state, Palin is the Governor with foriegn policy experience because Russia flies over her airspace and she can see it. At least Obama knows what he is talking about and he is educated, Law Degree from Harvard. and Biden has great foreign policy experience. Imagine Sarah being VP and going over to other countries winking, and snapping her fingers. I’m two years removed from college, and this is the first election I’ve truly followed. Sadly, I’m very dishearten by what I see. It seems to me that people are more concerned about putting their political parties first over the well being of country. Personally, I think Obama will win this November. Let’s be real. She didn’t say “This is to all the mom’s out there!” She said “hockey moms” Palin was specific and that gives people a feeling of being ‘left out’. Like the comment she made about Biden not knowing what it’s like to raise children alone. That hurt Biden’s feelings. That wasn’t toward race…it was toward sex. Everyone knows that man is a single parent, and why. And why should she know better than he? Her husband is a stay at home dad, supposedly. Plus, I didn’t like the way she commented on letting gay couples be able to see each other in hospitals. “No. That would lead to them wanting gay marriage.” What! Is she sick?! Anyone in there time of need should be able to see the one’s closest to them.

Please, please advise everyone you know that they absolutely can NOT go to the polls wearing any Obama (or whoever you are voting for) shirts, pins, hats, etc. It is AGAINST THE LAW and will be grounds to have the polling officials to turn you away. This is considered campaigning and no one can campaign within X amount of feet of the polls. They are banking on us being overly excited and not being aware of this long standing law that you can bet will be ENFORCED THIS YEAR!!!!!

They are banking that if you are turned away, you will not go home and change your clothes and return to the polls to vote. Please just don’t wear ANY gear of any sorts to the polls! Please share this information with as many people as you can. If you are already aware of this, please don’t take it as insulting your intelligence.
