♫ John Legend feat. Brandy - Quickly (full) - listen
Check out the Midi Mafia-produced new track “Quickly” from John Legend and Brandy. I’m already a fan of Brandy’s vocals, and I’m really digging John Legend’s new material from his upcoming third studio album, Evolver, which is due out October 28th. Their tones match really well together. I definitely think that this should be a single from Legend’s new set. This record really is amazing.
♫ M.I.A. feat. Jay-Z - Boyz (Remix) (full) - listen
Although this song is old as dirt, here’s a new remix of M.I.A.’s single, “Boyz,” featuring none other than Jay-Z, from her second album, Kala, which has picked up a lot because of the success of the latest single, “Paper Planes.” I was a fan of the album before, but it seems like people are just now getting on it. M.I.A. will rerelease Kala on November 4th (it originally released in August of 2007), while Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 is rumored to drop in December.
♫ London - You Should Be Loved (full) - REMOVED
We featured London in our Hot or Not section. He’s one of the latest signees to Universal-Motown. It’s good to hear some new material from him. “You Should Be Loved” has the 80’s pop-synth sound that everyone has been going for lately. I guess the closest thing I could say it feels like is Usher’s “Trading Places,” but not over-produced, with a more organic feel to it. London needs to get out a new single to create some more buzz.
♫ Joe - Heavy (full) - listen
Check out the Darkchild-produced “Heavy,” an outtake/bonus track from Joe’s new album, New Man, which dropped on September 30th, with little promotion. There’s nothing spectacular to be said about the song, which is disappointing, because I pretty much felt the same way about the album, and I hate saying that, because I enjoy Joe as a vocalist.

One more thing. The only thing I regret about M.I.A. getting famous is that ppl are about to swagga jack her heavy! Watch her style is going to be everywhere now. There are no more original ideas any longer. I.E. Rihanna a la FEFE DOBSON. Ciara a la Aaliyah. and the list goes on…

I’ve always said that JL is a more commercial version of Carl Thomas. This song just reminds me of a song Carl Thomas did with Brandy. It’s a nice song though.
That Joe song is not bad.

I heard this M.I.A. song with African Boy on it… I like Jay-Z better of course. Her music os for the cool and open minded not the snap, T-pain, Lil’ Wayne crowd. Brandy never changes her greatness. Her voice is immaculate she sounds perfect as always. I cannot wait to PURCHASE her album. Joe is thinking too much about these lyrics he needs to keep it loving, single and sexy. Stop all the metaphors, branding, and R.Kelly-esque melodies. Didn’t bother to listent to London… who cares?
