Jamie Foxx certainly made a lasting impact on fans with his last album, Unpredictable. I loved the album because of the influence that I saw Tank had left on Jamie Foxx, as well as his obvious vocal talent. It seems as though Jamie is about to make another huge splash into the R&B game. We last heard him on the “Miss Independet” remix, “She Got Her Own,” and it seems as though he’s been in the studio cooking up some new material.

Check out this new remix from Solange of her first single, “I Decided.” Even though Solo is well into promotion for her sophomore album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams, Snoop Dogg decided to hope on a remix. The song just feels really good and is very danceable. I was pleasantly surprised.

More material leaking from T-Pain from his upcoming album, Thr33 Ringz. I think that musically, I really like this song. Even though I try to hate on what T-Pain does sometimes, the man is a genius. Even with the vocoder, T-Pain does some pretty cool things on this song vocally. “Ringleader Man” finds T-Pain boasting about his ability to change up the game and flip the industry upside down. He’s definitely done so. He’s made his mark.

I’ve been told on many occasions that Johnta has thrown in the towel as far as trying to be an artist. He supposedly isn’t releasing his debut album, Ocean Drive, but material leaks left and right all the time. This sounds similar to hits that he’s already penned for other artists. Maybe all these Johnta Austin leaks are just demos and references.

The problem with Johnte’ Austen is…
I think Johnte needs to find his own style, create his own sound and theme for HIS music, he should have worked with different producers than what we are used to hearing him work with, give us something different.Work with somebody other than Jermaine Dupri, B.Cox or Stargate. HE should make more soulful music and stop chasing trends. Maybe even hire other writers. His voice isn’t anything special and doesn’t stand out…don’t get me wrong he can sing but his voice sound too similiar to the artist he writes for like Usher etc… Take a page from Neyo, he understands how to create his own sound and direction for his own music. But an added burden is the reputation that he has create that precede his career, they always advertise him as this hitmaking songwriter and the records he has broke with Mariah and Usher etc…but then when the play his music its sound so adverage and uneventful. He need to also find a new marketing team (bragging about past achievements only adds more pressure) and stylist (I have yet to find him remotely interesting or attractive.)
Johnte’ I don’t think you should throw in the towel…just re-invent. Give us the unexpected. What you has giving us is boring, unoriginal and half assed…(just being honest)

Anywayz its not his fault that he sounds like the artist he writes for he tells them to sound like him he is the coach so when he teaches them some of his moves which he probably gave all his moves away lol then he going to sound the same like them its his signature style.I do think he should work with the same producers Neyo works with the same producers yeah u are right maybe he should work outside the box but its not his fault they promote him the wrong way. He just needs a new promotion team and he should let people know that he wrote all those hits he should take credit for it Neyo does the same so. T-Pain-Ok I’ll admit even though I think he sucks and is over rated, this song is pretty cool. It sounds like the intro to the theme of his album, but he has gotten a little too cocky by the sound of his lyrics. I’ve noticed Brian this is your 2nd time calling him a musical genious. Ok I know the man has made some hits, but are you serious?! That term is used too loosely. True musical geniouses make music that is timeless and that people will appreciate forever. Think Quincy Jones and Babyface. T-Pain is nowhere near their level, he only makes music that will be hot to people for a season at a time. Know the difference. It really doesn’t take much to make a hit, I’ve heard beats on YouTube made by people that haven’t really produced music that long, but it could be a smash if it was promoted nationally. So my point is, someone with minimal experience in producing can even make hits, but it’s an art to making quality that won’t sound dated or trendy. I’m not saying he can’t get there but as of now, hell no! He’s given way too much credit for only being around for 3 years.
@20-Your comment is on point about Johnta Austin. If he wants to go solo, he’ll have to try harder in creating a style for himself only. I know he’s the man behind a lot the songs we already love, but people will just want to hear artists familiar to them already rather than a new artist sounding just like them. So I agree with you, he’ll have to set himself apart.

Sorry I misspelled Johnta’s name, I have a friend with the same name just spelled J-O-H-N-T-E’ so i am used to spelling it that way…lol. But back to the music, I am songwriter myself so I was rooting for Johnta’s success, I think as a songwriter you always have that material that is passed by artists who don’t want to take a chance on it, but YOU feel is excellent. We all need that avenue to get those feelings or emotions out. This was Johnta’s chance to go left and take chances, but he didn’t do that, instead, it seems he has been putting out dull cutting room floor tinged R&B single after single. His image is “blah” nothing exciting or different he looks like any other 30 year black male, that is why artist like him, Sammie, Mario, Trey Songz (who starting to get it) don’t really resignate with consumers, they are just run of the mill image wise, Style wise and substance wise.. they can sing…But it is the Lloyd’s, and the Ray J’s two artist that are nothing ..vocally) and to a higher extent the Usher and Neyo’s, that understand imaging and how it can make or break you. Song choices can determine chart life and can make or break you.
On to Jamie Foxx, ok joint, not first single worthy (especially after being gone so long) sounds like one of the songs any R&B flavor of the month would sing. I read somewhere that is in fact his first single I hope not becuz I am already tired of it after 3 listens….ok I am done yappin!

As far as the Jamie Foxx song…I perfer the Usher demo version a whole lot more. I was wondering why this wasn’t on Ushers album…I guess this is why. Jamie Foxx won the bid. To bad because Ushers vocals fit a whole lot better.

That T-Pain track sounds like an intro filler, not a track. I still give it to him though. Whoever thought back in ’02 that he’d get out of Tallahassee, let alone Florida.
