I think that the song, and definitely the video, is a definite step in the right direction for Beyonce. I mean, it would’ve taken her to take her own self seriously before anyone else could; and I think that’s what she did with this effort.

Personally, I would need to hear a bit more from her new album to decide if I’d like to purchase it or not; but, if any of her other songs are even remotely as thoughtful, and provoking, as this song is, then I may have to add her CD to my list.

Also, I’m glad that Beyonce is beginning to mature, and to understand that sublty and simplicity can be more. And by her not trying to over do her sound, and the image(s) that she brings to it, it makes her appear more sincere and more authentic.
