They should have kept the song the way it was. Sean Paul was not needed on the track to make it a hit. In my opinion, he made it sound really cheesy. Yuck (gags since I’m lactose intolerant)!

Breath of fresh air! Absolutely love this track. And to all the shallow people commenting about Estelle not being goodlooking, at least she’s talented. You probably stay listening to Ashanti, Rihanna and Ciara’s non singing A**. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholding, she stays getting her paper and that’s all the matters!

I completely loved this vid, the chemistry between the both of them was felt. It didn’t seem fake which really made me get into it. I’ve always really liked S/P, I love his accent.

I’ve never been to Jamaica, and now I really really want to go. Just an aside but I just saw the special on Jamaican runner Usain Bolt, the one who shattered all the records at the olympics, 6′5″, chocolate, and accent to die for. He was dancing, OMG the look in his eyes was so intense, I felt like screaming. I kept rewinding the Tivo, google it if you’re interested. xoxo Thicky

In all Honesty, this ish rtight here, this ish right?! It’s my jam!!! I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it,which is the first day her album dropped! It’s like, so sensual and soft…not raunchy and get me now. Not Agressive, but sexily assertive…..One of those songs you just wanna hear when it’s raining at night and ya with ya man, bc everyone knows it’s Carl Thomas’ “Summer Rain” for that morning rain..! There are so many talented people in the US but you guys have a real messed up mentality when it comes to being successful in music. It’s almost all about image in the US, especially in Urban music, and that means a lot of sistas that aren’t as ‘beautiful’ (light skinned, long weave, curvaceous) have to fight so hard to get noticed and are often passed over for someone with LESS talent that just looks ‘better’. It’s a shame cos i really can’t think of many ‘darker skinned’ ladies doing it big in music today. The only people that really come to my mind are Lauryn Hill (but she’s kinda out of it)Angie Stone, Ledisi and Estelle (help me think of some more!). I’m not trying to make this a dark skin / light skin thing AT ALL, i think there’s room for everyone (and i KNOW no-one is saying she’s ugly cos she’s darker). I LOVE the Beyonce’s and Ashanti’s and Ciara’s and Amerie’s and Keri Hilson’s don’t get me wrong- they’re all beautiful women with great talent. I just wish talent was more of a focal point in the US. I think image is less of an issue in other countries.

Jasmine Sullivan worked really hard to get where she is today, she isn’t your typical video type girl, but none the less she’s gorgeous to me and has the talent to back it up. In fact i wouldn’t care what she looked like at all!

I guess i’m saying this to say instead of saying how ‘unattractive’ you find Estelle (in comparison to other singers i guess…) you should go and buy her album!!!

hmmm…..i think everything i just wrote was pointless…just venting….feel free to attack me.:-)

oh…and i LOVE the song.

Blacks love to hate what belongs to them. The dark skin, the big lips.. the wide set eyes… Estelle is beautiful. She is not some light skin or green-eye contact wearing broad wanting to appear to be something she is not…

Sad when black beauty is seen as ugly.

The song is smooth like a Sade track….

48.

bettyboopbbw69

Thursday, October 30, 2008 /

I agree it’s a shame…

I have never understood why in this day in age that looks is important when buying good music. I always thought sound should be key in music… and beauty should be key in modeling. I don’t get it. Her dark skin is beautiful… and she is giving the music we can remember and love. Why is that not enough.

Black people just hate black people so deeply.

49.

RAWR™

Thursday, October 30, 2008 /

Please don’t say “blacks” love to hate on each other. You don’t even know if that amoeba brained fool is even “black”…as if someone cares if you find them attractive.

Estelle is an average beauty and her voice is like a pop Helen Folasade Adu. :P

dis a one hot fiyah song. But seriously who styled her for this video.. her wardrobe is all wrong, she should have on more casual clothes. peep how sp is dressed in the whole video, their whole wardrobe clashed.

HOTTTT track. @45 “It’s A Shame”, yeah I agree we still have that mentality, but nobody else even mentioned this, except for you. Don’t need to bring it up just for the sake of it, what we can do it not discuss it anyway, it’s irrelevant. Estelle has only just started.

Loving this track its so hot. I come from a Jamaican background therefore…this music runs through my blood .REGGAE ALL FUCKIN DAY!! . The thing I dislike about you Americans, (im Canadian, born and raised) is the fact that you guys are so reluctant to try to experience new genre of music and thats a shame. All you guys are into is Rap, Rap and more rap. C’mon this song is hot. That because it’s reggae some of ya’ll feel it’s “shit” don’t put other peoples music down just because it’s not what you’re “use” to or not your “cup” of tea. That’s why I love Toronto, Canada so much because it’s such a diverse and multi-cultural city and we like to give music a chance.

I love this song and it’s going to be a huge hit, it’s already getting play here on the “today’s hits” stations. It’s an amazing song with an amazing vibe..I just love it. And I agree with all you about Americans and their refusal to deviate from the norm…which is antiblack. Any woman who has features that aren’t typically African American are considered desireable. There’s a postive association between attractiveness and European looks. It’s ridiculous but it’s something we won’t soon get over here…it’s also why we’re considered so STUPID. I love Estelle and she seems confident in her own beauty, she seems to believe it and that’s what beauty is about.
