Future first lady Michelle Obama joined Jay Leno on Monday and shared that her husband’s source of strength comes from his ailing grandmother, whom he visited last week.
“She’s doing OK, up and down. But we are just grateful that he took time off and went to see her,” Michelle Obama said. She said Barack credits Madelyn Dunham, whom he calls “Toot”, with giving him his strength.
Obama also shared 10-year-old Malia’s reaction to her dad purchasing a 30-minute paid advertisement on national TV: “‘You’re going to be on all the TV? Are you going to interrupt my TV?’” her mother said Malia asked. She said Barack reassured her that he hadn’t bought time on the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon.

Regarding recent claims that RNC spent $150,000 on Sarah Palin’s wardrobe, Obama said she wanted to be empathetic: “A VP pick, it’s like being shot out of a cannon. All of a sudden you’re at the center of attention, and you want to look good. You’re living in your home, minding your business, and all of a sudden you’re on the national stage and everyone’s watching,” said Obama, adding she’s never met Palin.

I have to agree Rock was way out of line talking about Michelle the way he did. I, mean it’s cool to give a woman a compliment but he didn’t have to talk about her butt, the way he did. I, know she is a stunning woman, but he should have remembered where he was, and she just walked off the stage. That was kind of inappropriate. But, hey that’s him, and he is a comedian. And Jay Leno was so in awe of her , it was so funny. It is VERY hypocritical for y’all to be talking SO much trash about Sarah Palin & Cindy but when someone says something negative about Obama and his ‘crew’ it is time for WWIII. Not cool guys. And I am an Obama supporter too, but I am not going to allow myself to speak negatively about McCain and his people but get all hyped up when it is the other way around.
Anyway, I think she did a phenomenal job. If I were in that position I wouldn’t want to do 1 interview, it seems so terrifying. I give her props for that. I love Michelle Obama. She comes off so approachable, and down to earth. She is very intelligent, elegant and a very eloquent speaker. She has a realness about her that I don’t think Cindy McCain matches.
Cindy McCain is a very beautiful woman herself (she kind of reminds me of an older version of a barbie doll…but I digress). Both of these women are very different than past First Ladies all together. I have respect for both of them, but the way that Cindy McCain has been going after Barack on the campaign trail and in interviews I don’t see her the same anymore.
I had to watch the videos again…I’m just in awe of her. I could listen to Michelle Obama speak all day. She needs to write a book.

how come us black folk can’t go to the voting polling places in the cities where there are long -long lines and offer food drink and support for the black folks who face all these glitches and things when they wait to vote. lets roll out something like the red cross sandwiches, pop, water etc. black folks can’t we organize and do anything to support ourselves and this quest to witness history……………. damn lets get it pop’n if you would get together w/ unity like you do at these hbcu football classics and give your support and alittle time, baby ‘it would be a beautiful thing’.
