BARACK OBAMA WINS THE ELECTION!
Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama speaks to over 125,000 crowd members in Chicago’s Grant Park, minutes after being elected the 44th president of the United States, becoming the nation’s first black person to be elected president.
Obama, the son of a black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas and a first-term Democratic senator from Illinois, defeated second-time Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain. The election proved even more victorious for Democrats, which now have the majority in both the House and Senate, the first time since 1994.
In case you missed it, check out President-Elect Obama’s acceptance speech.

THANK YOU JESUS
THIS IS ABOUT HOPE
CHANGE GROWTH AND REFORMATION
GOD IS TRULY IS ABLE
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TALENTED MAN AND A GIFTED MAN
A GIFTED MAN COMES FROM GOD AND ONLY GOD CAN ANNOINT SUCH A MAN
NOW LET’S FOCUS ON UNITY
THIS REALLY IS A HISTORY FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE
AND ALL FEMALES, MALES, BLACK AND WHITES TO SEE
BUT IT ALSO IS A MOMENTOUS MOMENT FOR OUR BLACK PEOPLE TO SEE THAT WE CAN AND SHALL OVERCOME
THROUGH FAITH, STRENGTH, UNITY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE WILL OF GOD
PUT GOD FIRST TRULY AND SINCERELY AND EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FOLLOW
LETS PRAY FOR THE OBAMA FAMILY AND MAY THERE BE GREATER THINGS TO COME
NOW WE MUST WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE GREATER ACCOMPLISHMENTS
LIKE BARACK SAID WE WILL MAKE MISTAKES BUT WE MUST STICK TOGETHER WORK TOGETHER AND SPEAK YOUR VOICE WITHOUT THE VIOLENCE OF COURSE

The people have spoken. They have chosen a well spoken, good spirited, honest, hard working, African-American man for president. Obama is…
Thank God for this. I pray he is able to do all the things he promised us as American citizens. This is monumental. It has created hope deep within myself and many, many people around the world. And today I am proud and honored to say welcome President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

My people I thought I would never live to see this day. That day was extra special to me because my son turned 18 last year and this was his first time voting. He is just amazed right now at the outcome……our young generation has so much to look forward to and so much to be proud of.We have come a long way but we still have a long way to go….I hate to say it but when I saw Jessie Jackson crying I broke down and oprah also. This was historic…But my people please lets stop killing eachother and hating on eachother. We can truly say we represent the president of the United States Of America.Lets not make him look bad and give people something to talk about.Show your pride in him by making our communities better, our streets safer, our children smarter as well as ourselves..Change has come but we need to make sure the change is positive in our neighborhoods and our schools lets represent the president the way he represents us,with dignity, style and most of allwith respect for our fellow men, women and children and our communities…I thank you for taking the time to read this lets now take action!!!!GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR NEW PRESIDENT AND HIS FAMILY!!!!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said. This is a proud moment not only for Blacks, but the world. It’s amazing all the love, tears, support and pride from people who have never even seen a black person except on television rooting for a man they do not know all the way across the ocean. It’s amazing, leaves me breathless and messes with my head in a great way.
It’s not over though. We have 2 wars, high unemployment, an economy in shambles, record foreclosures, an awful health care system that needs to be reformed as well as education.
Black people, not like there ever was, there is no excuse for our behavior: boys walking around with their pants down to their knees showing their underware. It’s a prison look and not suited for school, work, play, whatever. Move past it, you’re better than that.
Ladies, the half naked women you see on videos are not who men want to take home and meet Mom. Michelle Obama is an accomplished woman in her own right being a lawyer with a Harvard Degree. This is who you should strive to emulate.
Stop being homophobic Black people. The Bible was used to discriminate against us and is now being used to discriminate against others. Remember, God didn’t have a problem with slavery, BUT I DO. Marriage is a civil right and this country was not founded on Christian principles (separation of church and state). Native Americans were not Christians. They were slaughtered by so called Christians just like we were lynched, raped, tortured, murdered and considered less than human by these same Christian principles. Slaves were not Christians either. It was beat into them to keep them in line and justify their bondage.
Regardless of your religion, Jesus Christ never spoke about homosexuality. It was Paul and if memory serves me correctly Paul has some other interesting things to say like having sex with your wife on her period, marriage and divorce. Stop picking and choosing to support your narrow mindedness.
That’s enough preaching.
It’s feels good to be a believer in my government, the ideals of American democracy and to be Black.

yesturday was the best day of my life!!! i witnessed history….i love everyone out there who went out and made your vote count…i was in tears last night…it happened so fast,we were counting down until the last states closed their pollings thinking we still had a while to know who the president would be…we got to 1 and BAM!!! there it was “Obama elected as president” i broke down,i was in shock!! i love it…all races were hugging and crying and jumping…my and my aunte made it in the newspaper, our picture was in there and we were crying and celebrating…it was beautiful
now i must go on to one thing we gotta keep this man in our prayers….he is a marked man whether you want to believe it or not…although we are surrounded by joy…you have to realize not everyone felt how we felt last night, there is anger out there, ask God to put his protection all over obama…and some of you will do anything to steal a persons joy today with your nonsense about his race and blah blah blah…people dont let that stop you from people proud of yourselves…we did it and i cannot tell you how proud i am!!

I am so happy and Thankful that I AM here to see this day. I am so much more hopeful about the future. I am raising 2 sons that I now know can really be proud to grow up and be a BLACK MAN in this country. I know that not everything will change but yesterday I SAW CHANGE AND FOR THAT I AM CHANGED! Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked so Obama can run. Obama ran so our children can fly!!
I hope “WE” will also do our part improving the conditions of our relationship with each other, building our communities, spiritually strengthining, supporting and helping one another and putting differences aside and not resort to violence and destruction any longer. Obama cannot do this alone, he needs us all to bring this country together!!!!

I have no preference for colour, to be on the safe side i better go for M/L OR L. Does not matter if it’s too big. Thank you in advance.
It is a great day for me and my children! I have been telling my children that nothing is impossible if you work hard and it’s great to see someone that they can identify with that has made a mark in history and also someone that knows of my struggle and theirs.
In turn i hope that this day makes a difference to the people of the UK especially the children. So that they make better choices and realise that we can make other choices in life and still be successful outside of music.
This is not just a day for black people all over the world, but for all of us as people to seek change, fairness and equality.
I wish i was there to witness it. They should make this a public holiday in future for you people over there for all your hard work and to mark a momentus day in history. If Martin Luther King was alive now.
WELL DONE AMERICA.

Obama has made history. With the help of the black community, as well as other minorities. So how is that Prop 8–which is a ban on homosexual marriages–was supported by blacks & latinos? This just seems like hyprocrisy @ its finest.
Black people will fight for the rights of our equality but not the equality of homosexuals?
Injustice & discrimantion are terms that blacks (as well as latinos) are very familar with, so why—WHY–would they attempt to enforce such discrimination on others?

I just knew sh!t would ‘hit the fan’ when he came in, and with a bit of exception with Bill Clinton, I was wondering what the hell was America doing! But hell yeah today! Obama ‘08! bBcause history has been made brilliantly redefined, and it might be time for me to come home now and make myself useful back home. There’s alot to be done.
Don’t forget the next 3 months are crucial. That fool Bush has 3 more months before he really is out of office. Let’s hope he doesn’t do anything further that requires damage control.

Today is my mom’s birthday.
She turned 60 today.
She said she never thought she’d see the day that a black person would become president and I am so happy not only for younger people but for the older generations that have lived through the ugliness of Americas history when it came to segregation and prejudiceness. This is truely a victory for all of those people that march with MLK and supported Malcom X and all of our black acncestors that fought so hard for hundreds of years to become equal and to have a say in this country! Please HONOR them today-let’s ALL change for the better:
No more hating on each other or judging each other.
No more black on black crime
No more drugs
No more AIDS
No more baby mommas and daddies
What has happened today has resonated around the world and Obama has not only become our first black President he has become a symbol of hope for everyone. I’m literally about to cry I’m so elated right now!!!!

This makes me so proud to be an African-American, because God knows we have surely come a very long way! This is something we will be able to tell our children’s children, and they will be able to tell their children…It really does bring a tear to my eye, I am just so PROUD of my people!

AM I WRONG FOR BEING UPSET???
………On my lunch break, i was in the lounge, and of course we were talking about the elecetion. I was saying how proud I was and how i started crying last night. And as I am telling the story, I started to tear up again. So in comes this older black teacher, wearing a Mccain/Palin key chain around his neck(perhaps my first sign that i needed to leave). He asked me what was wrong, and I started tellin him how proud i was of OBAMA. He starts mouthing off about how I only voted for Obama because he was black, and how I was too young to understand the political issues at stake.
I got sooooooooooooooooo pissed off. So to keep from losing my job, I walked out the teacher’s lounge and came to my classroom. But all I can think about is this:
…..REGARDLESS OF YOUR POLITICAL AFFILIATION OR POLITICAL VIEWS, AS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN YOU OUGHT TO BE PROUD THAT THIS MAN HAS OVERCOME SO MANY OBSTACLES AND HAS CREATED HISTORY. HE WAS ALL OVER THE MEDIA, AND NOT FOR KILLING, OR SHOOTING A BALL IN A HOOP, OR SCORING A TOUCHDOWN, OR SELLING A MILLION ALBUMS…..HE WILL BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES….THE HIGHEST OFFICE…..I CAN’T EVEN SIT STILL, I CAN’T SLEEP, I AM JUST TOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED AND SOOOOOO PROUD!!
Am I crazy for thinking that ALL BLACK people should have a reason to rejoice??? Oh, well, I just needed to vent.

I CANT LIE. I TEARED UP WATCING THE ACCEPTANCE SPEECH, AND I JUST LOOKED DOWN AT MY SON AND TOLD HIM HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS. WE ALL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE GREAT NO MATTER OUR SITUATION. IT’S 1 THING TO HEAR YOU CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE, BUT TO ACTUALLY SEE IT IS ANNOTHER. IT SORT OF ADDS VALIDITY TO THE STATEMENT U KNOW? BEING AN ENTERTAINER OR AN ATHLETE IS NOT THE ONLY WAY OUT ( NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT). AND TO SINGLE MOMS LIKE MYSELF, OUR CHILDREN HAVE ANOTHER POSITIVE MALE ROLE MODEL THEY CAN WATCH AND ASPIRE TO BE LIKE, BECAUSE HE’S SO MUCH LIKE THEM. As a freshman in HS 9/11 occured, as a freshman in college Katrina descdned upon us….and now I’m a senior in college, voted in my first presidential election, about to turn 20 in less than a month and BARACK OBAMA is MY PRESIDENT!
Last night, today, I am just overwhelmed with emotions. I’m sitting in my private equity class now (I know I should be paying attention lol) and I am looking at pics from masses of people cheering and crying tears of joy not only across the nation, but in Asia, Europe, Africa, etc… I’m just titillated with excitement.
Last night when CNN projected his victory, not only did the black students here at Cornell watching celebrate, but the white students, indian/middle eastern, asian, latina, etc… ALL celebrated. T’was crazy lol
Obama truly did capture the altruistic spirit of this nation’s citizens and truly made us a more UNITED STATES of AMERICA!
and I’m sure he’ll overcome all challenges he’s sure to encounter with grace and prove to have a successful and historical term!
signed,
a very happy nineteen year old who played her part in making history

YES WE DID!
I am so proud of President elect Obama and his family. Michelle radiates strength, I could feel her through the TV! Now the nation needs to pray for thier safety.
On another note..this morning my 11 year old daughter received a text from one of her class mates that stated “Obama has won so tomorrow we will all wear black to grieve the death of America” My daughter was very upset but I have taught her not to respond to ignorance. She said that she was going to tell the young lady off when she got to school but again I have cautioned her about giving things like that energy. In the end she understood where I was coming.
I said all of that to say…Please pray for the soon to be first family.
God Bless them and all of you too!
300.
