OMG, I’m still in shock right now. I mean I just saw history last night. It was exciting and crazy at the same time. A Black family is just months from occupying the WHITE HOUSE!!!! OMG our ancestors would be so proud.

But like I tell ppl yes it’s a good thing for blacks but ALL of America had to come through and make this happen. Black, Latino, White, Asian everybody and we did it ya’ll.

I was in Grant Park last night for the rally and it was AMAZING!!!!
Chicago knew he was going to win but all of sudden when he was announced as the President Elect we went BANANAS!!!!!
Words can’t even describe the way it felt to be part of history last night. To feel his presence and hear his words echo among thousands of people will be something that I will hold with me for the rest of my life. I am so excited for Obama and for CHANGE!

From the moment i cast my vote up to the moment i found out he won was just unbelievable!!! i’m still in shock that he won but so proud that WE could make it happen.

I was on the phone with my daughter who is a student at the University of Florida as soon as it was announced. She said “Daddy, everybody’s going outside, I gotta go!” That’s when it got emotional for me. This was the scene at many colleges around the US. Just to picture all theses young Black Students celebrating together all at once was overwhelming. Today is my Birthday but I keep forgetting because there is a bigger cause for celebration!

I knew we could do this. I’m so proud of my country today! Its going to be another warm, beautiful day. Even the Lord is smiling on us today!

This victory means so much on so many levels. For the first time all of the marginalized people in this country–all of us who always felt like we didn’t matter, like we didn’t count—for the first time we feel included. Not only that, Obama was not elected just because he was African-American–he was elected because the majority of people in this country respect his principles, his integrity…HIM. They looked past color and saw a man. For once I can actually say that I’m proud to be an American.

What truly struck me is all of the other nations such as italy, kenya, indonesia, and even pakistan, have already embraced barack. Furthermore, I m so elated that my grandfather, who lived through the civil rights movement, is here to see history made. It goes to show that voting does count there were a lot of split states. It also shows that when it comes to issues and what really concerns people, color doesn’t matter. I remembered one of the state either Iowa or Ohio (a midwestern state), I can’t remember which one last night, they had the percentages of the population breakdown; 91% whites, 3% hispanics, 2% for blacks and Asian, and 1% other. Prez BHO won that state.

The headline on Fox says “Facing a Steep Climb’ while the headline on CNN says “Change has Come”. I am done with Fox, and I believe we all need to boycott them. They were NEVER posittive about Obama. As soon as he won, they started “making it clear” that he did NOT win the White vote (had something like 43%). I cannot STAND THEM! Mostly because, like Barrack said, HE IS THERE PRESIDENT TOO AND WE NEED THEIR SUPPORT!

However, I will not let that ruin today. History has been made, and change has began.

Obama has alot of work cut out for him, and I hope that people give him the patience and room that he needs to succeed.

1) For once, black people came together in RECORD numbers to accomplish one goal. Usually we have so much division among our own race that we can’t get anything done.

3) Whites, and other races banded together with us.

4) Other countries are just as proud and excited about this change!

Don’t think for once second this was not a collective effort; I love how Obama gives us all credit for this moment in history. It just shows what we could have done all along.

All day i’ve been noticing black men with more pep in their step….i think the fact that Obama is the first black male president will raise the confidence and self esteem of so many black men….hopefully he will be the standard of which our young males (and old ones for that matter, and ones with families) aspire to be instead of only rappers and athletes (and womanizers). And we all know when black men feel better about themselves, then they will treat their women better, and have more respect for us.

I had to slap myself to make sure i wasn’t dreaming when the man announced last night after California closed the polls with 55 Electorial Votes that brought Obama over 270 and is now the president. I almost cried. I am so happy to live and see this day finally has come. I am proud of our people and Obama. God Bless.

I can’t stop crying!!!! My parents are from Africa so they passed down a traditional name to me. I was teased in school to no end because of it. And being a dark skinned woman growing up in the south didn’t help the matter. But I look at Obama…a man with this funny name…a man with an African father and a white mother….a man who married a smart and gorgeous black woman….A man who seeks to change the world…and I get goose bumps because he overcame the ultimate plight to get where he is. When everyone else thought no…he said yes. He never doubted his chances and he never doubted people would embrace him regardless of the color of his skin, etc.

NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY WE HAD TO GO THROUGH 8 YEARS OF TORTURE. IT IS SO THIS MOMENT WOULD BE POSSIBLE! GOD IS GOOD!

I’m so proud, excited, overjoyed, and many other emotions that are swirling around inside me. History has been made and I’m apart of it to live it, feel it, and see it with my own two eyes. Barack truly did overcome. He won states that are traditional red states, such as my home state Indiana. It looked as though it would stay red, but finally at 2:30 this morning all his campaigning paid off cause now we are a blue state! Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginina, and possibly North Carolina are all true blue. He took this seriously and was very calculated and methodical in what he did actually thinking about the people. McCain on the other hand took the GOP for granted and selected Palin as his running mate and that was his demise. Not to mention that he had his ugly face on in the end because he didn’t have a leg to stand on because Barack represents all the average people of this country whether black, white, purple, or brown. It’s not about me, my, and mine, but us, and ours. This is just the begining. Our children can be anything they want to be. Thanks Barack! May you and your family and everyone around you be coverd by God.

I was hooked on the BBC last night from 11pm (london time) till bout 6 this morning - when he got California…i screamed the house down and chills went through my body, my hands were shaking. Me and my sister we’re on the phone crying together

I am speechless. But how can I let this thread pass without my saying anything?
I am completely in awe of what happened last night. I gam not suprised that Obama won. I knew that I would see a black president someday. What I was suprised at was the amount of people celebrating in the streets. Last night, I went down to the White House (I live in DC) and danced in the streets for hours. I was not alone. People of all shapes and colors were there, white, black, muslim, asian, everyone. THAT is what suprised me. And I am so moved to know that a Black man, a man who looks just like my father and brother, has inspired a people so much that we celebrate in the streets. DC has never seen so much exitement and today, I am glad that I was a part of it all.

I AM SO DISSPOINTED IN MY HOME STATE OF ARIZONA, THEY MADE US LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF HICKS. ANYONE COULD SEE WITH EVERY MCAIN SPEECH THE MAJORITY WAS 98% WHITE, AND OBAMA ALWAYS HAS A DIVERSE GROUP, I KNEW FROM DAY ONE MCAIN NEVER SPOKE FOR US, AND NEVER COULD OR WOULD REPRESENT THIS COUNTRY CORRECTLY. Dr. King’s dream is happening. Damn, this is so breathtaking moment.

And seeing all of you Americans (no matter what race, color, cultural background) united in the USA around one man full of dreams and hopes is so beautiful thing to watch from here. Finally, let the world see that this is POSSIBLE.

I must also say that I like the speech given by McCain when he congratulated Obama. That was also a sign of change and respect for a man.

I was so sick of hearing “vote black” this man is intelligent eliminating his name and replacing it with a colour is a diss. This man will change America for white,black,chinese,indian, everyone! The world is moving forward with the new President and so should everyone else. It’s more than a race issue guys. This is just amazing what a whole country can do when they really want something. One thing I can say about race is that this definately is a historical event. A black man running the country! Big things a gwan!

This truly the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed in my life time. I know believe that I can achieve anything I want in this world. Last night the students on the University of the West Indies campus in Jamaica went ballistic when the results were announced last night. I am most definitely going to be there on the 20th of January, 2009 to see the first black man sworn in to be the president of USA.

I’m not an American, but I feel very proud to be a black woman today, I’m happy for United States and I’m happy for all black people. Barack Obama is a tower of strength and I wish him well. I hope that all Americans, blacks, whites, Asians and Indians will support him all the way.

I am so excited to have witnessed this moment!! I cried last night for the future and for the impact this has and will make on my young son’s life. I cried because I am so excited to see a strong woman by his side. I cried because my grandparents were able to witness what they never ever believed was possible. There were well over 200,000 people that crowded out Grant Park in Chicago on yesterday. This event is truly historical. Jesse Jackson was crying his eyes out. I’m sure he reflected on people like Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others who ended up being martrys for equality. Jesse was there for the marches, the arrests, etc. so I’m this touched him like so many others who fought for civil rights.

On the other hand, McCain’s speech sounded like he took this as a personal failure, but when change is due, there’s nothing you can about it but conform. If you can’t beat em, join em.

congratulations to barrack obama and also to his family. im happy, but lets not forget the most important thing people, the fact that the us president is black aint gonna mean a damn thing if WE dont work hard to change our own lives and the lives of the people around us.
the fact that he is the president doesnt mean we can sit at home at the tv and relax all day and expect our lives to get better.
i mean he aint gonna eradicate poverty, nor is he gonna stop all bad things ( killings, tsunamis, too many to mention) from happening, no president can except of course that president is Jesus.

Everytime I think about it I cry. This has truly been one of the best Tuesday’s of my life.

Normally when we say WE are proud to be an American, we say it really without any conviction. Now I really mean it! If you watched that lastnite and wasnt moved, something is terribly wrong with you! I am so happy to see Obama elected! I never thought I would live to see a black president. It’s truly remarkable. I can finally tell my children they can be whatever that want to be in life. I still can’t believe that Obama won. I know that it will not fully sink in until inauguration. My school, Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN will be making a bus trip to see his inauguration. It was so hype here on campus last night. Some people even got arrested even though it was a peaceful, joyful rally. There were some people who even said F*** Obama and no one threatened them or cursed at them. We Obama supporters were too proud to even let it get to us but the cops couldn’t see that. I’ll pray for Obama and his family’s safety everyday/

I hope this brings us closer to uniting as one people, black, white, gay, straight…all of us…united in helping each other and bringing about substantial and lasting change.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said. This is a proud moment not only for Blacks, but the world. It’s amazing all the love, tears, support and pride from people who have never even seen a black person except on television rooting for a man they do not know all the way across the ocean. It’s amazing, leaves me breathless and messes with my head in a great way.

It’s not over though. We have 2 wars, high unemployment, an economy in shambles, record foreclosures, an awful health care system that needs to be reformed as well as education.

Black people, not like there ever was, there is no excuse for our behavior: boys walking around with their pants down to their knees showing their underware. It’s a prison look and not suited for school, work, play, whatever. Move past it, you’re better than that.

Ladies, the half naked women you see on videos are not who men want to take home and meet Mom. Michelle Obama is an accomplished woman in her own right being a lawyer with a Harvard Degree. This is who you should strive to emulate.

Stop being homophobic Black people. The Bible was used to discriminate against us and is now being used to discriminate against others. Remember, God didn’t have a problem with slavery, BUT I DO. Marriage is a civil right and this country was not founded on Christian principles (separation of church and state). Native Americans were not Christians. They were slaughtered by so called Christians just like we were lynched, raped, tortured, murdered and considered less than human by these same Christian principles. Slaves were not Christians either. It was beat into them to keep them in line and justify their bondage.

Regardless of your religion, Jesus Christ never spoke about homosexuality. It was Paul and if memory serves me correctly Paul has some other interesting things to say like having sex with your wife on her period, marriage and divorce. Stop picking and choosing to support your narrow mindedness.

I am so happy Obama won! This was my first time voting, and I am so proud. History has been made so many times from this election. After he won my home state, VA, it was a wrap!

yesturday was the best day of my life!!! i witnessed history….i love everyone out there who went out and made your vote count…i was in tears last night…it happened so fast,we were counting down until the last states closed their pollings thinking we still had a while to know who the president would be…we got to 1 and BAM!!! there it was “Obama elected as president” i broke down,i was in shock!! i love it…all races were hugging and crying and jumping…my and my aunte made it in the newspaper,our picture was in there and we were crying and celebrating…it was beautiful

now i must go on to one thing we gotta keep this man in our prayers….he is a marked man whether you want to believe it or not…although we are surrounded by joy…you have to realize not everyone felt how we felt last night,there is anger out there,ask God to put his protection all over obama…and some of you will do anything to steal a persons joy today with your nonsense about his race and blah blah blah…people dont let that stop you from people proud of yourselves…we did it and i cannot tell you how proud i am!!

It is a great day for me and my children! I have been telling my children that nothing is impossible if you work hard and it’s great to see someone that they can identify with that has made a mark in history and also someone that knows of my struggle and theirs.

In turn i hope that this day makes a difference to the people of the UK especially the children. So that they make better choices and realise that we can make other choices in life and still be successful outside of music.

This is not just a day for black people all over the world, but for all of us as people to seek change, fairness and equality.

Today is my mom’s birthday.
She turned 60 today.

She said she never thought she’d see the day that a black person would become president and I am so happy not only for younger people but for the older generations that have lived through the ugliness of Americas history when it came to segregation and prejudiceness. Let me start off by saying that i was not a Barack Obama supporter in the beginning (I was all for Hillary, and i still am; she’s just an amazing woman/politician), but in the end I support Obama!

This makes me so proud to be an African-American, because God knows we have surely come a very long way! This is something we will be able to tell our children’s children, and they will be able to tell their children…It really does bring a tear to my eye, I am just so PROUD of my people!

And as I am telling the story, I started to tear up again. So in comes this older black teacher, wearing a Mccain/Palin key chain around his neck(perhaps my first sign that i needed to leave). He asked me what was wrong, and I started tellin him how proud i was of OBAMA. He starts mouthing off about how I only voted for Obama because he was black, and how I was too young to understand the political issues at stake.

I got sooooooooooooooooo pissed off. So to keep from losing my job, I walked out the teacher’s lounge and came to my classroom. But all I can think about is this:

Last night, today, I am just overwhelmed with emotions. I’m sitting in my private equity class now (I know I should be paying attention lol) and I am looking at pics from masses of people cheering and crying tears of joy not only across the nation, but in Asia, Europe, Africa, etc… I’m just titillated with excitement.

Last night when CNN projected his victory, not only did the black students here at Cornell watching celebrate, but the white students, indian/middle eastern, asian, latina, etc… ALL celebrated. T’was crazy lol

Obama truly did capture the altruistic spirit of this nation’s citizens and truly made us a more UNITED STATES of AMERICA!

and I’m sure he’ll overcome all challenges he’s sure to encounter with grace and prove to have a successful and historical term!

On another note..this morning my 11 year old daughter received a text from one of her class mates that stated “Obama has won so tomorrow we will all wear black to grieve the death of America” My daughter was very upset but I have taught her not to respond to ignorance. She said that she was going to tell the young lady off when she got to school but again I have cautioned her about giving things like that energy. In the end she understood where I was coming.

As a black Christian woman, I have never been more ashamed and dissappointed at Christians and black people who are “supposed” Christians. I came into work this morning and a McCAIN supporter started mouthing off how obama wasn’t gonna make a change. I told her that he already has, by becoming the first african american president, and this is only the beginning.

Mccain supporters please get off obama’s nuts, at this point everyone should be thinking positive things for the future of this country. But i guess some people have that much hatred and ignorance in their hearts.

Honestly i voted for obama because i want to be able to afford for myself and my future children (and grandchildren) to get a good education, and to not live in poverty. Most importantly affordable medical care.

McCains $5000 credit couldn’t even pay my surgeon’s bill. (of course this is not including the cost of the surgery).

Why don’t I know you?! I’ve been trying to tell people this yesterday on this site. I am also a Christian woman, and Obama claims himself as one too, yet a lot of his policies are directly against Christianity. Now I know Christians aren’t perfect and some are less strict on some views; however, it seems as though Obama just completely threw the Christian ways out the window. I’m not happy at all about that. Like I said, it is great that Obama won but it is also very bad. The fact that he stands for abortion & gay marriage astounds me.

Wow. I do think it is right to spread the wealth around but Obama is doing it all wrong. He will tax businesses that make over 250,000 a year. WHAT?? 250,000 is a piece of cake! So that “spread the wealth around” plan is going to fail so badly I can see it already. Everyone will start losing jobs because the company can’t afford to get taxed more plus pay the employees.

There are more whites in the US than Blacks. Obama got all the black votes. Southern states are the hardest for democrates to win period, wheither black or white. Southern states are slave states. That’s where slavery was started. Their more conservative states which lean toward Republicans, Republican politics. first off Congrats, Obama. second i just wanted to express my feelings regarding this election. I voted for Barack for a number of reasons., not just because he’s black. Its because I trust him to lead this country in the right direction. I think the come touching moment for me was callling my 92 year-old grandmother in Georgia, and just reveled her happiness. When you think about the things she and other older black’s in the country have lived through. Segration, etc. I’m so glad she got to experience something she never thought could ever happened. Founded on Christian principles and the word of god. I understand but why is it a RIGHT in the constitution for people to practice ANY religion of any kind that they want. Honey, i believe everyone on here knows that Obama is not 100% black as many African Americans in this country are not 100% black. Obama is Bi-Racial and in that mix there is African American blood and heritage coarsing through his veins so I think anyone with a grain of common sense can come to the conclusion that Obama is definitely African American and thats what we are celebrating. I get so sick of people trying to denounce the fact that this page in history is being written before our very eyes. Obviously enough people in America thought that this country was tired of its old ways and wanted to go in a different direction. when it was clear that obama was going to become the next president of the united states last night, i felt a few things… relieved and, at the same time, anxious and kind of annoyed. it’s like the feeling that you got when you were little and the bus was late picking you up. there’s a slight panic because you think maybe you’ve missed it, maybe it came early. but then the bus finally shows up and you think “it’s about f*cking time”… now because the bus was late you’ve got to hustle to make sure you get everything you need before class starts. so that really sums up how i feel about this election. it’s about f*cking time. sure it’s wonderful that it happened, but what the hell took so long. we have a slight exhale, but now we’ve got to really tighten our belts and think about all of the work there is to do… all of the making up for lost time.

When the new 1st family (1st blk family) walked out on stage it warmed my heart & then I realized again Americas diverse nation is over-coming race being such a central issue, although race is still a very hott issue its cooling with time. It may take many more decades, years, and centrutys before race is a minimal hinderance for people in this nation. Barack as president is not only an idol to black people that they too can be all they can be, but to every minority group! (Asian, latin, indian, bi-racial, tri-racial ect!) he repersent all of us! we are all deserving people if we hard and never give up like our new dear president Barack Obama, i just cant say him name and new title enough! When Obama said spread the wealth I don’t think he meant to take from hard working people and give to others who are less hardworking. I don’t want to put words in the man’s mouth but I think he meant in terms of equal rights.

If I’m doing the same type of job as my co-worker working for the same company and we are both equally hard workers. Do you think it would be fair if that person made a substantial amount of more money than me? Not to mention I was working for the company longer than this person. I don’t think I have to tell you all that nowadays it’s not what you know but who you know. I see this type of behavior day in and day out. You have some people screaming and complaining about Affirmative Action but look what they’re doing. Giving high paying jobs to people when they know full well they’re unqualified. Their giving these jobs because they’re drinking buddies or they golf together or they’re part of the same country club. The list goes on. This type of behavior is the reason we have Affirmative Action in the first place. Black people never wanted to be superior. We just want equality. Tha’t it! It’s always been that way.

Why are people so scared and angry that the power has shifted? It was bound to happen. You can’t have just one group of people in power all the time. It’s been proven time and time again that it just doesn’t work that way.

I also wanted to point out that Barack is not for black people. He’s not for white people. He is for PEOPLE! One of the reasons I voted for him is because he wasn’t a child of privilege. Nothing was handed down to him except a sense of hard work and determination. He’s not from money. Did any of you know that he was once homeless in NYC? Barack was just like any other man. He was trying to find his place in life. He kinda reminds me of me because I moved around quite a bit trying to figure out just what the hell am I suppose to do in life. What is my purpose? This is why so many people feel the connection to him.

I am a young black female who happens to be Canadian and we are SO HAPPY FOR OBAMA and AMERICA. I have been cring for the past 48 hours tears of happiness and joy. I stayed up until 4am just to watch all the after coverage. Finally a man is being judge by the content of his character and not for hte colour of his skin. Barack Obama represents ALL people and America should feel very proud.

John McCain’s speech was very gracious ( as they usually are ) but also very insightful.. I hope he does reach out to Barack and the Democrats.

Although his presidency will be very challenging.. I am open to the limitless possibilities that Barack can achieve. He is very competitive and he will make mistakes…but WE ( yes I’m including myself ) should stand beside him and with him as he grows and help each other. Canada is America’s cousin and we need to develope a better relationship with our brothers. Everything that affects America, usually affects Canada too. so we DO HAVE A STAKE in his Presidency!

I came back on here, and some people do not understand why we are celebrating. We are not simply celebrating for our “black” candidate, we are celebrating because Americans said in one voice, they wanted change. They wanted to deviate from the typical business as usual. This brother has rewritten political history books, and some people are hung up on false prophecies, and campaigns, and cannot see that a black man shifted the electoral map. President Obama turned traditionally red states into democratic states during this election. He has the highest number of electoral votes in the history of this nation. That’s something to celebrate, and color does not have to be mentioned.

As far as Bible goes, how can one support the divisive spirits spread by McCain/Palin. The bible says “Test the spirit by the spirit,” and when I got done testing the McCain/Palin spirit was not of God. The Republicans prayed that blacks would not have high voter turnout, they prayed that the Bradley effect would happen (aka racism), I mean, what is godly about that. President Obama has openly said that he does not support same sex marriage. I am so blessed and proud to be a part of this historical moment. Parent’s it’s definately important for our children to say “We have finally arrived”. We have reached a milestone, what a pivitol point in history.

That doubt, fear and negativity is born out of the slave mentality. Instead of taking your rightful place in this country that was built off the sweat of our backs, some of us would rather give “excuses” as to why we can’t participate and actually beat the system. Barack Obama played by their rules and beat them at their own game. That in itself deserves credit. No matter how I look at it, I see Barack as giving inspiration to millions of people of color around the globe. I refuse to give in to doubt and/or fear. Many people believed the Rev. Wright issue would derail him. It did not.

This country that was built by us saw something change on Nov. 4th, and the racists who still exist, were all outnumbered on Nov. 4th. We did not do this alone black people, some hearts have been changed. This country will never be the same. It’s called progress and as much of our brothers and sisters who cling to fear and doubt, just can’t believe that something positive happened, bow your heads and pray for them, because it is hard for them to realize that the chains are broken, and its time to take our rightful place in this society. That only happens when we claim it. Fear will keep us gridlocked, conspiracy theories help the fearful stay grid-locked and give them a reason not to participate..It’s really only their fear speaking. Sis, this “Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged” is an issue that needs to be dealt with because this is a portion of the Bible that is cited OUT OF CONTEXT ad nauseam. In Matt 7:1-5, Christ tells us that we cannot judge someone if we are doing the same things that they are doing. In other words; if you’re a crackhead, you cannot tell someone else to put the pipe down until you do. So-called Christians run to this misappropriation of the scripture to justify why they can go along with the doctrines of America and “love everybody and everything”. They don’t want to be afflicted and hated like Christ said we would be for standing up for the truth (Matt 5:11, Matt 10:22, Luke 6:22,23, John 15:18-20, etc.). You are supposed to love the hate. If people don’t like it, to hell with them. If I’m going off, I would hope that another man or women in the spirit would restore me if they see me going the hell off (Galatians 6:1,2). The scripture tells us that when we are SPIRITUAL (know and keep the laws of God to the best of our ability Romans 7:12), we can JUDGE ALL THINGS (I Cor 2:15, I Cor 6:2,3). I just want to say that as a Mexican-American girl, Election day was the one of the best days of my life. I like many others cried like a baby. I still can’t believe that President Obama was able to unify the nation. There was some struggle in the beginning, but we came together in the end. My mom is from Mexico and she is already talking about attending the inauguration. I will never forget that when I voted I saw an Asian person explaining to who appeared to be his grandmother in her native language how to vote. I didn’t understand anything he said except “Obama”. THen the day after the election I went to an elementary school for my work and saw a class of hispanic kids chanting “Obama, Obama, Obama!”

This is just the beginning. I can’t wait for what is to come!

Out of youth, there is a certain naivete. The racial injustices of this country have not been healed just because Barack has been elected. I really hope that black people in particular do not fall for the okee doke in that regard. I do see that it took a nation of very diverse people to vote for Barack, but we do have to remember that in the closing weeks of the campaign, some very nasty and vile comments came from the rallies held by the Republican candidates, Sarah Palin, and Senator John McCain.

People are quick to say that we have over come, but truly that remains to be seen. Electing Barack Obama who is seen as colorless by many because it make him much more acceptable is valid point being made here, its not about black people acting better than anyone else, its mainly about us having enough sense to see that nothing in this country has really changed. Remember at those rallies they were yelling kill him, and calling him an arab?! Don’t be fooled, this election only proves that Barack’s bi-racial background may have made him more acceptable by mainstream, however, if someone who looks like Al Sharpton runs, we all know that he will not be seen as equal. Black folks need to wake up! Equality means, the prison system will not be filled with black men, genocide will stop regarding our people. I can finally say that I love my president. He is articulate, intelligent, charasmatic, classy example of a black man. He gives me hope in so many ways. I love him and his beautiful family and I pray that GOD and his angele will protect him and keep him from harm. PLEASE PRAY this family that they have gods angels protecting them at all times.

The symbolism of Obama’s victory is so profound! Its a victory not only for Obama & the USA but also for Africans, for democracy, perseverance, for hope & a victory for the human spirit! I’m just happy that Obama got elected because I think he’s the best man for the job. It was the people that got him elected not some conspiracy theory crap. If Obama does not live up to his promises like he said, then we will hold him accountable. Part of what got him in the white house in the first place is his charisma. I still remember the exact moment when I read on the TV screen that Barack Obama was president elect… I could not stop saying oh my GOD as the tears from my face streamed down. my best friend and I were both on the phone crying at the same time and to see jesse jackson and oprah winfrey and so many others cry I realized that this was something that we were all experiencing together as a people it made me so PROUD!!!. I would like to clear up a few things on here. first and foremost BARACK OBAMA is a black man. It was the Jim crow law that said if you have one ounce of black in you then you are considered black. anybody that’s is black and was born in america and the people before them have been mixed with something none of us are fully black that is why we don’t look like our ancestors neither does BARACK. All the black people that took shit for years off those EVIL white people during those times.

I can go even DEEPER into our BLACK HISTORY (the history the WHITE PEOPLE HATE for us to bring up or show images of on TV, they wished we would just forget about )– we were DISRESPECTED to GREAT levels. We were STOLEN from our homelands & brought here to this country, packed on ships, sold for pennies wearing no clothes & locked in chains, whipped until their skin was opened, our women was RAPED (for years & years) by these EVIL white men, black people worked ther asses off in this country, while the white people STOLE all of our VALUABLE natural resources, they took credit for many of the INVENTIONS of BLACK PEOPLE as well. We were portrayed on television as IGNORANT, DUMB, FILTHY, STUPID, used for ENTERTAINMENT purposes or they got roles on TV as MAIDS/BUTLERS & of course we were called “NIGGER” as if it was all of our actual first names. & OMG, lets not forget there was the KKK.

*YOU THINK OF ALL OF THESE THINGS as OBAMA is announced NATION WIDE as the PRESIDENT of THE UNITED STATES & it is just soooo over whelming, you just start crying…Most of us WEPT. WHY? This was what Dr. Kings I HAVE A DREAM speech predicted. It came true on so many levels on November 4, 2008. The countries all over the world CELEBRATED our new leader as they got the news. To hell with the REPUBLICAN DYNASTY—GOODBYE BUSH!! It literally feels like a WEIGHT was lifted off of our shoulders. All of our ANCESTORS, all the people who MARCHED with Dr. King, all the people who died (black & white) for the cause.. (If you were white & tried to help black people in any way, you would be treated just like the black people (Both JFK & Robert KENNEDY were assassinated partly because of this—so it went on for years- The friendly white people that cared for the poor minority & black people–wont live too long back then if they were caught) . But It all was NOT in vein. Its difficult to explain, but its almost like OBAMA was meant to be the LEADER, like the spot was his to begin with. He is the REAL LIFE image (his family as well) of a BLACK MAN who:
1. EDUCATED/SMART
2.has COMMON SENSE
3. EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT
4. has the ability to SPEAK & COMMUNICATE
5.He is a GOD FEARING CHRISTIAN man.
6. LOVES & RESPECTS his WIFE & 2 CHILDREN & the list goes on & on.

I am just so PROUD that I among so many others. have been soooo BLESSED to see this day, in this life time. Growing up in a black household in bedford stuyvesant Brooklyn NY. With a single mother from the South. I have heard her childhood stories & I have seen it all in my Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Obama this man is a shining example, of what a REAL MAN is. I hope this VOTING experience is the beginning of a new generation to come.

*I hope this new President allows young BLACK MEN to wake the hell up, get off these streets, put down these guns, & start doing something POSITIVE with your life. I feel like I’m still in a dream. It hasn’t truly registered that he will be the next president of the united states on january 20th. I am not sure how long it will take until I really realize he is president. It’s amazing. I’m so proud to be an American for the first time in my adult life. I feel Michelle on this one.

This is truly a spectacular moment in history and no matter what Judah or anyone else not feeling what we are feeling says, this is something so completely euphoric you want to freeze it in time and relive it over and over and over again. On Tuesday night when I saw the electoral count go from 207 to 297, I was actually speechless. I sat there immobile as tears just slid down my face. I wanted to scream, yell, shout and just lose my mind. From the first time I heard Barack speak in person, I knew he was destined to be president. I doubted Virginia going blue but I never doubted he would win. I am so proud and feel so blessed to be experiencing this historic moment–the first Black (and yes he is black because he’s been on the cover of Jet, Ebony, and Essence magazines–need I say more) president of the United States of America. This could very well be a once in a lifetime moment and I feel sorry for anyone who can not see the beauty in that and not want to celebrate it.
