Im not into makeup, more on the natural side…But when I dibble and dabble in makeup its very lite….and I most certainly love the smoky eye look….

Rihanna eyes are drop dead gorgeous, she has the eyes of a tiger.

Stila makes a great smokey eye palette that comes in different shades(because using black and gray tones are not the only way to create a smokey eye, you can also use blues, purples, greens, and gold tones) but yeah anyway its talks to you and instructs you by just pushing a button, costs about $40 and is incredible.

I’ve never liked the smokey eye look because most people wind up looking like they have been knocked out or a racoon. Just don’t like dark eyes oh my bad smokey.

the problem some of you may have with the smokey eye is you think that you have to use black or grey in order to achieve the look. If u think those colors are too dark for you then you can always go with bronzes and purples..u can almost use any shade to do a smokey eye without it being to dramactic like you see in the pics…

and i should know since i been freelancing for MAC since 2003. lol

Rhi got the best smokey eye; in fact, she’s got the best eyes period of the women featured here. Tia is a close second.

Looks like raccoon eyes to me. I was never a fan of dark color on black skin. Does not matter if it is lips, eyes, or nails. I like the fresh awake look. Get me a orange/red shade any day.

I actually have the MAC compact that is featured…the Lashblast mascara…and the Urban Decay Smoke Out pencil BUT the things I find that work best for smokey eyes is:
1. The Mac compact that Tianna featured ( Milani has a cheaper version you can get at Target or CVS though…$.6.99 I believe)
2.Urban Decay’s Smoke Out pencil is NOT that great…try the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On pencil in “Zero”
3. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On pencil in “Yeyo” for the metallic white liner (I’ll elaborate later lol)
4. L’oreal’s Hip Cream Shadow paint in “Steely” or MAC’s shadesticks work well too!!!
5. Dior’s Diorshow mascara in Black or Maybelline’s XXL Microfiber mascara is bomb too…
6. MAC’s “Navy Blue” pigment is hawt too…

For the “Rihanna” smokey eyes look:

1. Prep your lids with a nice primer all over! Use on the lid all the way to the brow bone…Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer is the absolute best. This will keep it from creasing and staying matte (not becoming oily).

2. Use a black eyeshadow shadestick on your lids only…this will bring the shadow out and make the shadow truly dark and give you more of the look Rihanna has in the featured pic.

3. U can use a dark silver shadow/pigment…dark navy blue pigment/shadow and place it on the lid only. I prefer dark silver or navy…look at Rihanna’s pic for the results. If you notice that is a dark silver instead of pitch black.

4. Use a black shadow/pigment on the outer corner of your eye and give your eyes the cat-shape “V” look…make a “>” in the corners of your eyes and smudge inward to blend the colors and give that smokey illusion.

5. I usually use a black liquid liner…or waterproof black pencil liner along the lash line and wing it out…

6. Next I apply a white pencil liner on my lower lash line…and afterwards I put water-proof black liner above the lower line directly on the water line ( you know the inside rims of your eyes)

7. And finish it off with mascara…and you have the Rihanna smokey eyes!

Let’s not get it twisted though smokey eye is by no means a trend, add white eyeliner to your lower lip and it’ll look “Mod” which is from the 60s..maybe the word trend might mislead people because this is a look that is worn anyday of the year and any time of day, depending on what colors you use to create the look

LADIES!!!! you do not have to pay 45 dollars for two four eyeshadows. DO YOUR RESEARCH. I just brought a palette from Coastal Palettes and the eye shadows are very much pigmented, more than MAC! Also try L’oreal HIP duos, very pigmented and more than half of the MAC’s price. MAC is nice but not necessary especially for low income/college students that want to get their make up on too. Smoked eyes been around for years. Do ya’ll remember the Aaliyah “We Need A Resolution” video? She was so beautiful with her smoked eyes. I’ve wanted them for a long time but never knew how to do them.

Smokey eyes are a trend in the sense that they come and go with each new fashion season. They may be in for Fall/Winter ‘08 and out for Summer/Spring ‘09. Last Fall, the smokey eye was out! It was all about having a well defined cat eye. Also, the type of smokey eye and the colors that are used to create it change all the time. Now, it seems that the bold, black smokey eye is back whereas 3 months ago it was all about using “color” to create your smokey eye.

I love the look i remember when Aaliyah was doing it in 2001 in her We Need a Resolution video i see it came back full circle to 2008.

Smokey eyes have been around forever. Aaliyah nor anyone else was the first to rock it.

I used to LOVE Beyonce’s heavy eyeliner which was her signature look. It really brought out the color of her eyes. She has beautiful eyes. She changes up her look and make up with each album, but I’d like to see her bring that back and the L’Oreal colors she helped make fabulous. She looks pretty wearing the simplistic looks she’s rocking now too.
