FASHION BITS: MARY + PERFUME / RIHANNA & GUCCI CLIP / GARCELLE LAUNCHES LINE / LUXURY BRANDS CUTTING PRICES

marycarol1.gif Mary J. Blige is signing on to take on the fragrance business, creating a new smell with Carol’s Daughter:

The R&B singer, who is already an ambassador for beauty line Carol’s Daughter, is working on an upcoming fragrance with the brand. My Life by Mary J. Blige, named for her second album, will be their first foray into celebrity scents — and will also mark first time the singer is branching out into fragrance.

And while the Blige hasn’t yet revealed any details, the self-confessed “beauty nut” has long been a fan of the brand, “I am Carol’s Daughter and my fans are Carol’s Daughter users” she said recently. “So it just made sense to partner.” SOURCE

LUXURY BRANDS CUT DOWN PRICES

chrisshoe.gif With the U.S economy spiraling out of control, luxury brands are finally getting a hint and cutting down their prices for American consumers:

With even the biggest spenders starting to scrimp, luxury companies from Chanel S.A. to Versace SpA, Christian Louboutin and Chloé are reversing the industry’s maxim that luxury prices only move up. The cuts range from 8% to 10% on most products sold in the U.S.

The move to cut prices began with Chanel last month. The French fashion house, known for tweed suits that can cost $8,000, decided to trim its prices by 7% to 10% on most items that are hitting U.S. stores now. “The dollar’s recent strength has allowed us to pass on greater value to our customers,” says John Galantic, the company’s U.S. president. The prices are still well beyond many means, but at least they’re taking this country’s crisis into some consideration.

Rihanna looks cute, and stop acting like she is the spokes model for Gucci she is not she is apart of the celeb UNCIEF campaign with them.

  2. Poor Girl

Poor girl. She had too hook up with Chris Brown just to sell out a tour. Isnt that call prostitution. I used to like her. Now she is a sell out. Awwww one day you will headline Rhianna. Your just not on that level yet.

  3. Meka

I loves Carol’s Daughter will be def giving its products as Christmas gifts this season again

  4. WHO?

Nice that you compared their looks. Now compare their talents. Theres no comparisons.

Its a shame that even Rihanna’s own fans have nothing but looks to defend her own. You can find girls all around America just as pretty as Rihanna. But you’ll on find a handful of people who are as talented as Beyonce.

    THE END.

  5. Model Chich

This girl should be a model fareal. Here style is crazy. Her voiceeeeeee not so much. Im not feelin her music like that, but maybe because imma dude. I like biatches with hips like Beyonce. I see why Jay Z is stickin wit that and gettin rid of the skinny, no talent hoes.

  6. keepitrealallthetime

the same one beyonce stan is posting under different usernames to hate on rihanna, jealous people, damn they are stressing

  7. Meka

Oh I can not wait for Mary’s fragrance, since Jay Z is apart in Carol’s Daughter Franchise it’ll be cool for him to make a fragrance for women, or do it with his Rocawear brand.

  8. Hotness

Whoever said no one wears Gucci anymore, you are seriously wrong. Gucci is a major fashion powerhouse. Armani is broken down into two the more expensive line, and Emporio which they sell at Macy’s, so I think you failed when trying to compare Beyonce to Rihanna. However I think Rihanna was the wrong spokesperson for this. The people who can afford a $15,000 handbag don’t buy Rihanna’s stuff. Also they don’t really need celebrities telling them what to buy, because they can afford it regardless. (By the way nothing is wrong with Macys , I shop there, just making a point)

  9. yes

garcelle posed in playboy, im sure she got plenty of money from that

and its “butterflies”, and apostrophe is used to show ownership not for pluralization

and those designers aint helpin nobody with their price cuts lol

Poor girl. She had too hook up with Chris Brown just to sell out a tour. Isnt that call prostitution. I used to like her. Now she is a sell out. Awwww one day you will headline Rhianna. Your just not on that level yet. ————–

Let’s keep it real… overseas Rihanna is a bigger artist than Chris Brown which is why she is not only headlining the tour but also closing the show… so if you are trying to call someone a prostitute wouldn’t Chris Brown be the one you are talking about. She also was the headliner when she and Ciara was on tour…. so perhaps she is at that level but I digress…

What I find amazing about all of these post is the outright lies folks are typing up to make them [Beyonce and Rihanna} either better or worse than the other… saying Armani the more respected fashion line or no one wears Gucci anymore…. now that’s just downright laughable…. Armani could never hope to get on Gucci’s level… name me one item in Armani’s collection they could even attempt to sale for $15,000…

Another thing just because you as a fan believes Beyonce is this mega talented singer not everyone feels this way. From the moment she came out with Destiny’s Child I never felt she could sing. My opinion wasn’t based on what someone had to say… her vocal tone has never been pleasing to my ears…. but that’s the beauty of music… if you listen long enough you will find someone or something that does appeal to you. But just because I don’t like her it would be beyond foolish of me to go into threads that are clearly about her and talk smack about her…. what’s the point really?

I have to say though there is something that is really starting to get to me… this whole notion that those who listen to Rihanna’s music must be young and/or not a fan of real music. I so beg to disagree… just like I have Rihanna’s music in my daily music rotation so too is the likes of Marvin, Maxwell, Jill, Lauryn, Donnie, Aretha, Christina, John, Sam and a host of others… one’s musical taste should be varied… if you are stuck on only one artists or type of music you can and will easily become the jaded ones who post late in the night trying to defend their favorite to anyone who says boo about them.

Comparing Beyonce’s success to Rihanna’s is wrong too…. Beyonce has been in the business some 10+ years and Rihanna only three… so to compare total amount of record sales, earnings, and whatnot is not only wrong but foolish. Those figures will forever be biased in Beyonce’s favor… Also the dollar amount posted ain’t the real truth. Anyone can spout out some numbers that don’t make it true. I know of many a people who on paper seems like they have the world at their feet but in real everyday assessible funds it ain’t nowhere close….

Someone mentioned above that Rihanna should never be mentioned with the likes of Britney, Madonna, and Janet but I think that is exactly where she belongs… they make pop music and that is the type of music she produces. Those three do not have the strongest voices but they have amassed tremendous amounts of success… why not want the same for Rihanna or any young black girl coming up in the industry.

I guess its obvious from my post that I am a Rihanna fan but that’s neither here or there. The constant battles between the two fan groups go from laughable to rude to down right pathetic. As I querred above what’s the point of coming into a thread about someone you don’t like and talking nonsense about them? It won’t change anyone’s opinion and in the end just makes you look the ass…. you don’t like an artist… whether it’s Rihanna or somoen else… don’t waste your time opening a thread about them… is your rude comment or snipe really that important that you are willing to waste moments out of your day on someone you can’t stand? Hating and downing another artist does not equate to record sales for your favorite….

Just My Opinion…. didn’t mean for my post to be that long but I started and just could not stop typing…..

Also, it’s not that I like one better than the other, but this time around Bey has to work harder. Point blank.

#32 Bey didn’t make $180 mill this year it was $80 mill, the other $300 mill is what Jay brought to the table. Get your math game up. Either way, they are two great talents that are making each other work harder. Fun competition people!!! Get over yourselves & quit snapping out over nonesense. SMH
