MUSIC NEWS: 50 CENT PUSHES ALBUM BACK / BEYONCE DOES AOL SESSIONS / THE ROOTS JOIN LATE NIGHT SHOW

50 Cent’s label, Interscope Records released a press release, stating that the rapper’s new LP, Before I Self Destruct, originally slated for December 16th release, will drop early 2009!

Interscope says the artist was “rushing” to meet the December date but “with the deadline to secure advertising and retail placement for the album imminent,” the rapper opted to wait until next year.

The album boasts production and guest turns from mentors Dr. Dre and Eminem; producer Scott Storch helmed first single “Get Up.”

Before I Self Destruct will be bundled with a full-length feature film of the same name, in which 50 Cent plays a budding basketball star who becomes a criminal after his mother’s murder.

Early pressings of the album will also include a second DVD with the documentary “Two Turntables And A Microphone: The Life & Death of Jam Master Jay,” which 50 Cent executive produced.

Color me surprised. I don’t think the new single jumped off like they thought it. In the mean time, Eminem has also planned his comeback in 2009 with his anticipated LP, a follow-up to 2004′s Encore, Release. Originally to hit stores by the end of the year, Eminem is back in the studio with Dr. Dre in Detroit. He has recorded around 100 songs over the last couple years.

BEYONCE DOES AOL SESSIONS

With the very recent release of her third studio album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, Beyonce performs three songs live on AOL Sessions. She performed two songs from the new album, in black and white (“Single Ladies” and “If I Were A Boy), which is the look that Beyonce seems to be going for with the new album, as well as performances of “At Last,” from the upcoming film, Cadillac Records, in which Beyonce plays Etta James, as well as a treat from her last album, B’Day.

Make sure you pick up a copy of I Am… Sasha Fierce, in stores and online today.

THE ROOTS JOIN LATE NIGHT SHOW

The Roots will take a break from their non-stop touring schedule beginning next March to join comedian Jimmy Fallon on The Late Night Show as his full-time house band.

According to our friends at Rap-Up.com, Roots’ frontman Questlove broke the news during an interview at the group’s show in Chicago last week. A YouTube video with the announcement has since been pulled off the Internet.

Fallon’s show replaces Conan O’Brien’s Late Night on NBC next year, while Conan takes over for Jay Leno’s Tonight Show.

Beyonce – Sasha (BS) or Bull Sh*t
Everyone who I know bought the cd were disappointed. They expected what they usually got from Bey, but were hood winked. The sales mightl be solid because people were fooled, but the radio and other media requests won’t be there. The play of these songs will be short lived, maybe two months, unless she add some good singles to it.
