Sgt. Jan Pawel Pietrzak and his wife, Quiana, were tortured and killed execution-style in their California home allegedly by four Marines under his command.
The couple were found bound and gagged in the ransacked house and each had been shot in the head.
Pietrzak’s mother, Henryka Pietrzak-Varga, said she prepared herself “for the possibility that my son could die in Iraq, but to die like this, in their own home? They were good kids. They didn’t deserve to die like this.”
“She was our only child and my best friend,” Faye Jenkins, Quiana’s mother said. “He was like my son. He was so proud to be a Marine. But when he was off the base, he was my son.”
Deputies were dispatched to the Pietrzak home in Winchester, an exurb of San Diego, when he didn’t show up for work. They found the Pietrzaks in the living room and evidence the robbers tried to hide their tracks by torching the house.
Charged with murder and other crimes are Pvt. Emrys John, 18, of Maryland; Lance Cpl. Tyrone Miller, 20, of North Carolina; Pvt. Kevin Darnell Cox, 20, of Tennessee, and Pvt. Kesuan Sykes, 21, of California.
HUDSON CASE UPDATE
Following a preliminary hearing on Monday, William Balfour, the only suspect named so far in the triple homicide of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, will remain in prison at least through December 3, when a full hearing will be held to determine if he violated his parole.
According to reports, Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson, had not attended any of his anger-management classes, had not attended any of his substance-abuse counseling sessions, had not been available for visits with his parole officer and had been seen in places were drugs were sold or distributed, which resulted in an arrest for cocaine possession in June.
Balfour’s girlfriend, Shonta Cathey, had claimed she had seen Balfour with a gun the day before the murders that was allegedly identical to the gun found by authorities. An unnamed source told the Chicago Tribune that Balfour told her he was involved in the shootings.
Balfour was out on parole from the Illinois River Correctional Center on attempted-murder, carjacking and stolen-property charges, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was sentenced to serve seven years in 1999. Balfour was paroled in 2006, but if he is found at the December 3 hearing to have violated his parole, he will have to serve out the remainder of his term, until May 2009. Until that hearing, Balfour will remain at the reception center at Stateville Correctional Center.
KILPATRICK HOPES TO KEEP LAW LICENSE
Former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who pleaded guilty and resigned amid multiple scandals earlier this year, is hoping to salvage his license to practice law.
As part of his plea deal, Kilpatrick lost his law license, but noted that he was doing so “under protest”. His attorneys are now appealing the decision to Michigan’s lawyer regulatory board.
Attorney Phillip Thomas said, “What happened was totally unprecedented. There are lawyers out there convicted of manslaughter and very, very serious felonies that this doesn’t happen to.”
The state’s Attorney Discipline Board has given Kilpatrick until the end of November to file an argument as to why the disbarment order shouldn’t be finalized.

They act like the people that did this crime were professionals, and not just regular street criminals… And honestly, you cant say that they should have moved out of that neighborhood, cuz the neighborhood didnt kill those people, domestic violence did. Balfour and Kilpatrick are despicable. They are a true waste of black skin. I love my black men, but when they put themselves out as trash in society, they need to be treated like such and thrown away. The judicial system is also very shameful because for all of his convicted crimes including attempted murder, why did Balfour only receive 7 years…and then to be granted parole at that! I mean hell, here in GA there is a 10 year minimum sentence for armed robbery alone! And then all of his preexisting parole violations (not showing up for class and not being home when his parole officer came) he should have already been rearrested and therefore would not have had the oppurtunity to finally kill the Hudson family (albeit alledgedly)

I heard about the couple on the news. It wasn’t a race issue it was pure and simple robbery by his fellow officers… senseless murder by rogue marines.
There should definetly be the death penalty but the problem with that is the fact that there are innocent people on death row right now. The system is seriously flawed, and until they fix that I’m against the death penalty as it stands. There needs to be a law that without DNA evidence or hard evidence, there can be no death penalty, but if such evidence is found they should be stoned to death forget the easy way of dying, Our main problem with society is The ACLU. This case involoving the Marine couple occurred last week. What’s strange is that the armed forces accept any and all types of applicants to “protect and serve” and then people are surprised when things like this occur. The United States army is filled with reprobates and gang members of all races. These are the people that the American public are told are “heroes” and are bringing “freedom” to these foreign countries. The same thing that happened to that couple has happened to thousands of families in Iraq and Afghanistan. What’s also striking are the number of people that I see that advocate the torture and rape of the men that commited that crime. I wonder if they were white, would people advocate those things. I also wonder if it’s because a black woman got her white prince and the Most High raised up those four black men to murder them. I believe that this Polish dude was a wigger white boy that got his kicks by talking down to the black soldiers under his command, and the fact that he had a black woman at home put even more of a battery in his back. The scriptures tell us that life and death is in the power of the tongue. I think he popped some sh*t and thought it was sweet because he had military authority over those men.
I’m surprised that they have not found a pansy for this Jennifer Hudson debacle yet. I never get into “speculations” because they can often be wrong. But hell, if you even have watched a couple of Law and Order shows, you know that this case stinks like Lil’ Wayne’s mouth…
Point #1. If you go back and listen to the news reports, when Julian was missing, they showed him with a striped shirt on…”What he was last seen wearing”…ok, the only one who could have told them that was the mother. Since it was early in the morning when this happened, either she saw him with that one the night before, or before he was murdered.
Point #2. Saturday, she goes in front of the media and says “I just want my baby back, we won’t say nothing, and HE WONT I.D. YOU”. Right then and there, I was thinking, if he’s not dead, he will be cause this dumb broad then sent out a code and the kidnappers are going to get nervous. But I figured he was going to get killed because he saw or /and heard the whole situation go down with his grandmother and uncle.
Point #3 – Same night, Julia goes on MySpace to say that because she chose to love someone it cost her her family…WTF???? They were supposed to have broken up two years ago…
Point #4 – another poster just mentioned it. The vehicle was not in that spot all that time. It was in a residential neighborhood. The lady who walked her dog there said that the dog barked at the car. Dogs usually bark when something is wrong. So I agree, it was driven there.
Point #5 – Balfour is still a person of interest? How’s that? Sounds to me like the only thing they can get him on is having a gun and violating parole. He knows something, but they are watching someone else…
This is what I think, Julia and Balfour was cookin up a scheme to get some money especially since Jennifer had another movie and CD coming out. And it all backfired.
And if this isn’t the case, then Julia Hudson is one asinine woman. Either way, I feel bad for Jennifer.

I’m from NY. I preface my comment with that because I don’t know the picture that you had on the cover of your newspaper where you’re from regarding the death of her nephew, but here, they had a picture of the young man throwing up the Satan Horns (manu cornuto). Of all the pictures that they could’ve used as a cover shot, they chose that one. Mind you, I already knew beforehand that she sacrificed all three of them, but that picture cemented it. I believe she took that picture and had him do that sign with plans to use that picture to inform her sponsors and sisterhood, cult, whatever, through the media that she did what she needed to do to get what she wants from them and show her loyalty .
The mainstream media and police department already know what the deal is. This is why I’m surprised that they didn’t have their pansy picked out already. Maybe Balfour wasn’t where they thought he’d be when they decided to do what they did. Maybe he has an airtight alibi so they can’t pin what they’d like to pin on him. My prayers go out to the family of the Marine and his wife. This is such a sad thing, especially when we as a country are excited about change and praying for miracles. May God also continue to keep Jennifer strong during this trying time. We don’t know what happened we can only speculate. Only God knows what really happened to that family and that little boy, and He will make sure that justice comes to pass.
