You can preview snippets of Brandy’s upcoming release, Human which is due to hit stores in just a couple of weeks on December 9th. So far, Brandy has released two singles, the Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins-produced, “Right Here (Departed),” and is starting promo for the new single, “Long Distance.”
While promoting her album, Brandy also appears on John Legend’s third single, “Quickly,” from his latest release, Evolver. As usually, Brandy sounds amazing. Her voice is the clearest and most open that I’ve ever heard her. I’m really glad that she flexed her vocal muscles here. I’m a little disappointed, however, that most of the album seems to be mid-tempo. I was hoping to get some more up-tempo tracks from Brandy this time around.

I like the Brandy I grew up with and The Never Say Nerver Brandy but she sounds the same all the time not a very strong vocalist, nothing big to make you say wow but she is ok. Her voice sounds like she is singing through that thing T-Pain uses.

in total i like 5 songs off this album! true sounds great! shoulda been a single! overall these songs sound the same! i do love that she did intros and interludes haven’t heard them in awhile! but if she’s planning on doing a comeback this is not the way! i wouldn’t buy this! but it’s for some ppl, i’m sure her fans love it!!!!

I liked Brandy back in the day, I’m talking about those “Baby Baby Baby Baby, Don’t you know that you’re so fine” days. I’m not really feeling her this time around. Right Here was a nice song for a couple of days then it got so played out and boring. The video bored me to tears. I don’t know, she’s just not the same Brandy. I know you are suppose to grow as an artist but I’m not enjoying her anymore. Sorry. And that picture is not attractive.

I’m so sick of yall going on about how another artist is the reason for other artists pushing their album back, or how one artist shouldn’t drop because of another artist dropping the same day. Keri and Ciara’s albums was pushed back because they’re single/singles did not do well. If they feared competition they would have never picked the date to begin with, it’s not like it wasn’t known Britney was dropping that day. Britney and Brandy are two different artists; they’re going to do what they’re going to do.
@ 30. Dee, Brandy’s voice might sound like she’s using a synthesizer or vocoder (not sure what it’s called) like T-Pain and all of his fakeness, however, Brandy’s sound comes naturally. I didn’t even realize it until recently when I heard her sing live a capella and she naturally has that sound that so many try to duplicate in the studio and put over their voices. I’ve heard so many people that can imitate everyone from Beyonce to Patti, but it’s very rare that I’ll hear someone that can come close to Brandy. Vocally speaking Brandy is a BEAST!!!
What’s interesting is people try to compare her to Beyonce but they are completely different artists. What I like about Brandy is she could be a powerhouse belter if she truly wanted to…however, vocally, she is musical. She creates layers and sounds that are sonically more dynamic than Beyonce or RiRi. What is also cool is that you can always tell a Brandy song, she has a signature sound. Bey and Ri are cool but I wouldn’t listen to one of their albums ten years from now because they aren’t classic, but Brandy…I still bump Never Say Never. That’s the difference. Bey and Ri are stuck in gimmick mode, they’re good but campy.

I’m getting it. It has a Sade-esque vibe to it. Not singing tracks for the sake of them being catchy but instead being casual and doing her on this album. You can tell she’s pouring her heart into this. The “True” track sounds beautiful. It’ll probably be one of my favorites. I guess people are saying it sounds the same because of there are piano arrangements in most of the songs??? Whatever, it’s pleasing to my ears, so she’s got my support.
