You can preview snippets of Brandy’s upcoming release, Human which is due to hit stores in just a couple of weeks on December 9th. So far, Brandy has released two singles, the Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins-produced, “Right Here (Departed),” and is starting promo for the new single, “Long Distance.”
While promoting her album, Brandy also appears on John Legend’s third single, “Quickly,” from his latest release, Evolver. As usually, Brandy sounds amazing. Her voice is the clearest and most open that I’ve ever heard her. I’m really glad that she flexed her vocal muscles here. I’m a little disappointed, however, that most of the album seems to be mid-tempo. I was hoping to get some more up-tempo tracks from Brandy this time around.

i agree with #69. The leaked songs were much better (list, maximum risk, lately, etc.). I’m a little disappointed at the songs chosen for the album. However, i wish B rocka the best on December 9th!

I cannot wait for December 9th! I have to buy at least 4 copies cause I aint letting my friends burn it! I think that once everyone hears the album entirely, they will be thoroughly impressed. I cannot wait to hear that damn “A Capella” in full though. I am betting that song will be THE “standout” track on the album.

All I can say is that I respect your opinions but, please dont count Brandy out based on hearing some 20 second long tracks alone! I hope that ya’ll will give it a chance because it is obvious that she worked really hard on this project. Know that Brandy always does her and midtempos and ballads are where she is strongest and they work for her in creating a more cohesive album everytime.

A Capella sounds freakin amazin! SHE SANG THE BASS LINE HERSELF!!!!! GOOSEBUMPS!!!!! Mike from Boys II Men is the only other person who can compete with that, lol. That is why she’s the queen….she harmonizes with herself better than anyone else. Her range is ridiculous! People who sing know what’s up….what she does with her voice shits on so many female artists! PEOPLE, JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT BELTING THROUGH THE WHOLE SONG DOESN’T MEAN YOU DON’T HAVE A STRONG VOICE! Brandy’s strength is in her lower register! She blends her voice with the beat so it’s sonically pleasing to the ear. Those who say she can’t sing obviously don’t know what it means to be a singer!
I honestly think that this will be an amazing album! Like Brian said, I wish that there were more uptempo tracks, but that’s okay. Her voice is just enough for me… Now my personal wish is to have had Rodney Jerkins, Timbaland, Neptunes, and Raphael Saadiq only produce the album. That would have been sick!
Overall, Brandy provides a consistent effort (like 2002′s “Full Moon”) and is enough to satisfy R&B listeners who don’t mind venturing into the likes of pop and neo soul. Will it be enough for everyone else? Don’t know…

Okay, to those of you who are dissapointed, some of the songs do kinda sound the same on the first listen, but you have to listen to each snippet a few times. I waited a few hours and then listed again real closely and I must say I like a most of the songs so far! Brandy’s songs have always, always had to grow on me but after hearing it in rotation 4 or 5 times they become my favorites! Just give the woman a chance. I bet you will be harmonizing and singing along and grow to love this side of Brandy as well!! Love ya Brandy & I know I will love the new album! Come on ya’ll, let’s support our girl!!!

^Couldn’t have said it better. The thing with Brandy is you can stand each of her albums next to each other and each one will sound different, giving you something the previous/next one doesn’t while each being different pieces of the same puzzle… HER. She doesn’t present herself as the ‘hottest chick in the game’, she let’s her quality music do the talking so people saying ‘she ain’t hot’, ‘she ain’t sexy’, ‘Brandy fell off’ are forgetting that she’s never said she was any of those things, she just makes music and sings extremely well. IMO it’s because she doesn’t take part in the ‘hot-chick’ game that people sleep on her albums and aren’t always aware of how good a lot of her music is. Full Moon and Afrodisiac were badly promoted, she took ker eye off the promo for them… but anyone who bumps those albums knows that vocally she’s only ever gotten better not worse since NSN and that really she was still learning on that album. On NSN she was a girl and but on FM through to Afro and now Human she’s a woman and she sounds like it. Her runs, adlibs and delivery are thought about and worked to the fullest effect. She never repeats herself and vocally she is a beast. Her vibrato is distinct and her runs are the amongst the most special in the industry WORD!

Sorry, I love the deepness of the album cuz yes, brandy HAS been through alot, but at least give us some of the old beats/joints that she used to do like “Baby, Baby, Baby,” “Nobody,” “Afrodisiac,”, etc..these songs are examples of music with great beats and gets you dancing. This is all sorrow and gloom and yes you do learn and grow from it, but B-ROCK stands for something…maybe they should change her nickname to B-DOWN for her gloomy/depressing album until she ROCKS us back to the dance floor….But I still have love for her, but WON’T be buying this one!..sorry girl!..

brandy does something very special, she always puts out a solid album, above anyone else. Its always complete with and agenda and its the way she sings…she connects you with the songs, she is feeling what shes singing. Brandy albums are alive..She is the ad lib queen, she cant be touched when it comes to ad libs.
