@ Neek, Michelle probably lets Sasha do her own hair now…she is at that age where she wants to be kinda independent and do things on her own and for herself. Any good mom, which Michelle seems to be, would let their children be themselves and not stifle their creativity…

This is so awesome! I live in Chicago on the southside, and I have to say that this church/school that Obama visited is an inner city, crime riddled neighborhood, and it says so much that the President Elect of the U.S. would not only make a surprise visit, but stay and make such an impact on the children and adults. On the news that day, they showed a grown man standing in line waiting for food who just broke down crying at the thought Obama and his family would spend the day with them. Awesome!

It brought tears to my eyes to see how “excited” those young kids are to see President Elect OBAMA. President Obama even has that effect on our youth who are just old enough to know a difference….AWESOME!!!! The Obama GIRLS are beautiful. I love the fact how the First Lady let Malia show her ethnic styles, her hair doesnt always have to be permed and straight looking….I Love the OBAMAS!!! SASHA is just to cute…

@Neek - don’t worry about her hair. That’s one of the issues Black woman will never be able to deplete - the complex about our hair. Malia is 10 right? How would you like her hair to be done? She’s a little girl? Would you rather have it slicked up in some weave ponytail, shaking her a$$ on the corner with some fresh a$$ boys? I mean come on her dad is the first African American President - Elect. What you should be worried about is how to make more Afr. Amer. girls her age look like her instead of looking like a hooker!!!!!
focus on the issues, how can you help P.E. Obama make this country better for all of us?

@NEEK - my apology if I overreacted. I just love to see little girls look like little girls. So innocent and so precious. I have a 9 year old niece who loves bratz dolls. Well last year she got one for X-mas and it came with hair extensions. Well she proceeded to clip some hot pink ones in her hair as we were preparing to go see Dreamgirls the movie. Now to me it looked crazy but she was being creative & I respected her choice to be creative. I smiled b/c I love her innocence - something you rarely see in Little 9-10 year olds today.
So when I see Barack’s daughters they remind me of my niece. Beautiful, precious and innocent-how they should be at that age.

Her hair is not the issue! If she wanted to have a stlyist everyday of the week she could! The point is Barack and Michelle Obama decided to install REAL qualities in their chidren. Take Notes! Her hair…ummmh! Wake up,we have bigger issues than that beautiful little girls hair!!!!!!!!!!

It is so cute the way the young kids in the school knew exactly who Obama is, they were so excited to see the President in their little school, and this will no doubt be a memory they will remember forever, and their families will remember forever. Hopefully it will inspire the teachers and the kids in that school to really strive to be the best they can be, and to have great goals , and to always strive to do productive things with their lives.

It goes to show that Obama and hisfamily are and will be normal like the many 300+ million Americans that live in the U.S. It definitely brings a tear to my eye when I see him and his family hanging out with the community. And it’s not fake or for show. I think God has truly answered our prayers. Maybe the world is not so bad after all.

Good on the Obamas to let Malia wear her natural hair regardless of what some ignorant black for think. Look at all the other little black girls in the picture that don’t have their hair permed or straightened either, are they any less beautiful? Or are you trying to say that the president’s daughter is too good to go around looking like the average little black girl? I am so glad they are not white washed and hung up on separating themselves from everything that could be seen as ethnic. I mean some of you really care way to much about what other people think about you, especially when it comes to white folks.

@10, Me
Thank you for the info! I like to know stuff like that! See, that is why I’ve supported Obama since the beginning…I’ll be honest, I knew one day there would be a Black president. But I assumed that the first president would be some Clarence Thomas–Uncle Tom-ish negro, lol…But I like being wrong on this case! Obama shares so many of my values and to think that he is president? Brings a tear to my eye whenever I think about it. I wish him well. He was definitely dealt a bad hand, but I know with his intelligence that he’ll be able to play and win BIG!

@ #10 - I just watched the abc news clip and almost cried myself at the man breaking down and saying how it “made him feel special” that the Obama family would be there to help. All it takes is each one of us giving back and showing love to others despite them being strangers, etc to inspire hope in others, pick up their spirits and let them know that they are relevant, special and worthy.
My prayers are with the Obama family and all families this holiday season for continued blessings and protection.

God bless the Obama’s, what they did on thanksgiving is an example for everyone. We all need to take part in your community and make it a better place. I hope people realize that if the busiest family in the nation can take time to give back what the hell is stopping you.

#6 You’re such a dumbazz, her hair is twisted to keep it healthy and growing. I remember my mother/grandmother plaiting my hair every other night and taking it out in the morning so that it could continue growing. What does her hair have to do with anything? she’s still beautiful and very, very bright like her parents. I think they’re one of the most attractive families walking around today, the girls r absolutely gorgeous. Mr. Obama loves his girls to pieces, now that’s a good father, what can you say about your father? was he in your life? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..hater.

BLACK MEN IN CHICAGO NEED JOBS, NOT TURKEYS!!!
BLACK MEN NEED TO HAVE DRIVING CABS, AND DOING CONSTRUCTION WORK JOBS RETURNED BACK TO THEM, INSTEAD OF THESE FOREIGNERS WHO CAN BARELY SPEAK ENGLISH.
I WANT TO SEE BARACK RIGHT THIS WRONG DONE TO THEM. IF HE DOESN’T HE WANT GET MY VOTE AGAIN.
BLACK CAB DRIVERS ARE BEING TESTED ON SUBJECTS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH CAB DRIVING. WHILE FOREIGNERS ARE GIVEN ANSWERS TO TESTS. THE CURRENT GOVT IS PULLING ALL KINDS OF BOGUS STUNTS TO RENDER BLACK MEN JOBLESS AND HOMELESS.

The look on those childrens’ faces are priceless. Even at a young age they too can sense how special he is. Children can see through the bs. These children have pure joy on their faces. It’s up to us as parents of color to encourage our children to do better in school; to make better, moral, life choices.
His presidency will be so help greatly with the self-esteem of our children. They will be filled with respect at his achievements. Even we adults will be too.

ok neek, sorry, but you sound like those self-hating project mamas who slaps a relaxer in their kid’s hair at age 2 because you “can’t deal wit dat nappy ass herr.” their is nothing wrong w/that child’s hair. 2 strand twists are not locs…they’re 2 strand twists; you know, a little girl hair style. haven’t you noticed that the more educated, intelligent black people are the ones who usually have a 2 parent home, no more than 3-4 kids & keep their children looking like children? you don’t see educated black families where the girls look like mini-strippers w/a headful of fake ass hair or relaxers or the boys looking like lil’ man & nem at da club in prison pics & baggy clothes. damn you sound so stupid & lost!
