OMFGG… BEYONCE KILLED THE SINGLE LADIES PERFORMANCE. ACTUALLY THIS THE BEST I SEEN OF BOTH OF THEM… BEYONCE DO YA THANG GIRL.. AND U LOOK SO SEXY AND BEAUTFUL… AND ANOTHER THING THAT SNL SKIT WAS FUNNY AS HELL

Beyonce is very skilled, but there’s something unbelievable about her performances (the ones that aren’t choreographed that is). When I watch her I feel like I’m watching an entertainer,but that’s it. It’s no different from going to the circus. You have fun. You’re entertained,but there’s no artistry. No REAL passion. She’s a great pretender;which is why it surprises me that she’s not a better actress. Then again, it does take passion to be a good actress as well. That,and God-given talent. I don’t think Beyonce has either. She has talent alright,but not the kind God gives. Beyonce is VERY ambitious. SHE works hard. SHE is driven. SHE siezes oppurtunities. She’s loved by the world and takes every oppurtunity to glorify herself in some way. Personally,I don’t think her talent warrants all of the attention and acculades she’s been given. I have to agree with people who say she’s no icon. She’s not. When I think of iconic artists I think of people like Stevie Wonder,Donny Hathaway,Ray Charles.They are some of the pioneers.More recent: Jimmy Hendrix and even Prince. He’s a great entertainer,but he’s also an ARTIST. He’s a real musician and writer. He makes music because it’s inately apart of him;not because he likes it and he wants to be a star. I think of singers whose voices are unparralleled: Aretha Franklin,Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan,Gladys Knight,Minnie Riperton. The more recent ones: Whitney Houston,Christina Aguilera,Jennifer Hudson. Then there’s the Neo-soul movement: Erykah Badu,Jill Scott,Musiq Soul Child,India Arie,Kindred (our modern day Ashford and Simpson),Angie Stone. They may not recieve the recognition that pop stars recieve but they are true artists and there music is inspiring and timeless. It’s not for the moment. It’s for a lifetime. I don’t think Beyonce fits the profile. Even her “folk” music is pop friendly and she isn’t even convincing in that arena. She should just stick to coochy popping club bangers. Beyonce wants us to believe that the “real” Beyonce is deep and relateable. But people gravitate more toward her overbearing persona “Sasha Fierce” because we all know that’s who she really is. That’s her comfort zone. If you have to force a sound or have someone else create a sound for you and it sounds like something someone else has already done and done better. Than it’s not your sound. Beyonce may be a multi-platinum,grammy winning vocalist;but she is still TRYING to find the artist within. I respect her hustle but I don’t respect her artistry. She has none to respect. She is indeed a gimmick. An attractive gimmick,but a gimmick none the less and I too can not buy into it.

Angie Stone has a song called “Soul Insurance” from her Mahogany Soul album.The song says it all and more.It represents many of the current fads that call themselves artist. Beyonce included. Take a listen. You might learn something.

She looked soooooo damn good. And I’m sorry, Beyonce is an Icon already. Say what you want, but 10 years from now, my kids will kno who she is. Her performance is iconic. There is none like B. Her vocals are amazing. And her work ethics are the best I’ve seen. What ppl fell to realize is that music is an art, so what’s good to one may not be good to another. As many ppl who think Beyonce has not substance, there are jus as many as ppl who do.

Best example, I personally think Prince can’t sing, and his guitar skills are as good as I’ve seen in church (nothing spectacular) but yet I still have to admit that he’s iconic. Why? I really don’t know. Will Beyonce be remember for her talent, of course. There is no one who performs as well she does. And I love her comtemporary R&B sound. It’s funny Asia (#3) brought up Angie Stone. She happens to be good friends with Beyonce, and talks about her in her upcoming book. Specifically, about how Beyonce seeked her advice on her then budding relationship with Jay Z, while both were on the set of Fighting Temptations.

So, please don’t use Ms. Stone’s name in some diatribe against a person you don’t even know. If people judged you with the same standard, that long narrative would be indeed indicative of a person too obsessed with celebrity life - living vicariously through these artists.
