Not another Beyonce act. Please. Check out the outfit and notice the shirtless men. Though Im sure my girl did her thang, this performance looks too much like a Beyonce show. However, I must commend Keyshia Cole for dabbling into a different image and we shouldn’t knock the girl for trying a new look. SHE’S NOT GETTING TOO SKINNY! She’s doing her thang and people need to stop criticizing weight and really evaluate the quality of an artist.

The positive first, I’m glad Keyisha is changing her attitude and working on being a better person.

However this new look does not work for her. Keyisha is trying hard to cross over and have the pop appeal except she can’t do it because it’s not her. She needs to stick to her urban roots, because she doesn’t have the cross over appeal (look wise, voice wis, and juding by the attemps on her album song wise).

Yes unfortunately the music industry has turned into a big ass fashion show, just like everything else. talent doesn’t matter anymore its all about looks and clothes. within’ the next few years the music industry will be shot to shit because of this. why you ask?? because labels will continue to sign mediocre talent, that they can dress up like puppets and dolls and turn them into cash cows. you can sound like a robot/billy goat (i.e, rihanna) and sell milions of records, because that’s what the white people (majority) want to hear. Damn i wish i had a time machine so i could take it back to time frame of 1970-1999, when music actually meant something!!

I know that sex sells and that all of the T&A is just show business. Still, I am tired of seeing everyone’s scattered ass and cootch shots. I want someone who can stand on stage in jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt and just SING…no acrobatics, no background dancers, no bending forward more than 90 degrees at the waist, no ass shots, no gyrating…just sing the damn song; make me feel something. I remember when Lauryn used to get on stage, I knew that I was going to hear something dope. And Whitney…lordy, in her heyday, she would get on stage and people were stunned into silence. I worry that because of this commercialism and pre-packaged pop star formula that’s so prevalent today, that we are denying ourselves great singers (i.e. the next Aretha, Patti, Nina, etc) who have the talent but don’t fit into the mold. I’m not hating on Keyshia because I feel that she’s really talented. I wish that she can just trust her voice to do the job and not bring her body into it. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. I feel you all the way. All the real talents were from the 90’s and earlier. These cookie cutter “pop” and r&B celebs are boring and predictable. They all tend to be light skinned, Butt shakers, gyraters and near naked. That might work for a lot of people, but after a while, that get’s old. Sing something meaniful. Maxwell came back after being gone for seven years to sold out concerts. His music had substance and ten years later, it still selling and he looks GOOD. R&B is coming to a halt with these kids today. If it weren’t for Mary J, Alicia Keys, JenHud, and other like them, R&B would become extinct. Come back D’Angelo, Blackstreet, bring back the 70′, 80’s and 90’s.

I just saw a couple of Rhianna’s videos and she did not sound bad at all. As a matter of fact, her show was very entertaining.
