the movie is FAR from a flop. it averaged more per screen than all of the other movies except four christmases. the movie took only 12mil to make and they make 3.5 back it’s opening weekend in 686 theaters. as you can tell, all the movies in the top 10 were showing in 2000+ theaters. the movie will make more than the 12mil it cost to produce

also, dreamgirls opened in limited release too (only 800 theaters), it didn’t mean there wasn’t any demand for it. dreamgirls made about 6mil that weekend and ended up grossing 100+ mil worldwide and the hype for dreamgirls was also way bigger. cadillac records may not make that much (but w/a budget of 12mil, they are clearly not expecting it to) and they’llmake their profit back.

hate all you want, but as long as the movie makes back the 12mil, it’s considered a success, anything more than the 12mil is just an added bonus.
