Lil Wayne garnered the most Grammy nominations, receiving eight, and alternative rock band Coldplay grabbed six as the Recording Academy announced this year’s nominees for the 51st annual Grammy Awards on Wednesday.
Lil Wayne and Ne-Yo (who received six nominations) were both nominated for the prestigious album of the year award. Rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West also received six nominations each and our girl Jazmine Sullivan got 5 nominations, including Best New Artist. I am soooooooooooo glad Jazmin Sullivan is nominated for a Grammy. Her album is amazing. There isn’t anything out like it (right now) and that’s what a grammy nominated album should be

This is the first year that I am pleased with the people who got nominated. Weezy and Jazmine deserve their nominations. I really hope Jaz wins at least one, because she truly deserves it. Oh yeah kudos to Ne-Yo too, I never was big on him but I actually enjoyed this album. So congrats to everyone who got nominated.

Wow, I am surprised that Jazmine was nominated so many times. And while Lil Wayne had a very big year, I was still surprised that he was nominated that much. I mean, I really didn’t think that the Grammys, of all award shows, would recognize him like that. Also, Jay Z got 6 nominations? That is pretty much shocking to me.
I guess, the Grammys are trying to give people that ordinarily wouldn’t get the chance to be nominated or who didn’t have a very big year on the charts the spotlight.
I also guess that’s why Alicia Keys got kind of shut out this year. I mean, she got 3 nominations, but they are all either for songs that weren’t even released or for categories that just seem very random for her to be nominated in. And I just thought that she’d get more nominations. Many people expected her to be nominated for “Album of the Year” as well as all the R&B categories, but nope, she got nominated for Best Pop Vocals–Duo; Best R&B Vocals—Female; and Best Short Form Video.
Very interesting.
Oh well, I guess well see how it all turns out, soon enough.

#16, Alicia was already nominated last year in the categories she is not this year and she won some of those thats why she is not in a lot of categories this year.
Thats why I said Beyoncé made the good choice to wait until the 2010 grammys, Alicia last year submitted ‘no one’ when her album was just released in november. So she is nominated in 3 categories this year and last year, was also in 2 or 3. If she waited, she would have 6 nominations this year and win probably five!

I’m officially not watching the Grammys this year….
Deadline for Grammy consideration is SEPT 30..Alicia’s album was released in Nov 2007..Her album was pretty forgettable…her singles w/ the exception of “No One” were lack luster…and it pretty much mirrored things she has done inthe past…I still say that her first CD was her BEST.
As far as Mariah is concerned she really didnt choose the right singles and it made people forget about her album as well…which is ok…Mariah will probably retire soon anyway..she has nothing to prove.
I’m proud of Jazzy…she deserves these accolades…she’ll win a couple.

the ONLY reason Ne-yo got all those nominations was because he had no competition this year. I didn’t too much care for his album nor his singles.
Overall..2008 was a pretty bad year musically speaking..nothing really exciting happened til November when u having Bey, Kanye and now other artist are comin in Dec…Hopefully 2009 will fare much better and push artist to REALLY be creative and put out music that is quality.
