MAG COVERS: OPRAH SPEAKS ON WEIGHT ISSUES IN O MAGAZINE
Tuesday, December 9, 2008

Oprah Winfrey speaks on on her new weight issues in the Januaray issue of O magazine. According to the article, she is now 200lbs, a 40 pound weight gain from just 3 years ago.
“I’m embarrassed … I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, ‘How did I let this happen again? I didn’t just fall of the wagon. I let the wagon fall on me.”
Oprah’s current BMI — a measure of body fat based on height and weight — of 31.8, puts her in the obese category. Obesity increases your risk of developing high blood pressure, diabetes and many other serious health problems.
For Oprah, who ran a marathon in 1994 and co-authored the 1996 best-seller “Make the Connection: Ten Steps To A Better Body — And A Better Life” with fitness and health guru Bob Greene, the battle of the bulge is one of frustration.
“I definitely wasn’t setting an example,” she says in her article. “I was talking the talk, but I wasn’t walking the walk.”

Look, Oprah, some people struggle with issues all their lives. For you, it may be weight. For most Americans, it’s weight. It’s because we are in a society that does not teach about nutrition literacy. We go to the store, and pick up items, and never give it a second thought because we don’t know how to read labels except for calories. Even then, we do not know how to interpret what we’re reading. I wish more classes on nutrition were given, especially in our schools. I am more fit than the girls and boys I teach. It’s a real concern to me.

I WENT TO THE MOVIES THE OTHER DAY TO SEE CADILLAC RECORDS-EXCELLENT MOVIE, BUT ANYWAY, I ORDERED A SMALL POPCORN AND A SMALL DRINK; THE “SMALL” DRINK WAS AS BIG AS A BUCKET, AND THE “SMALL” POPCORN WAS AS LARGE AS A TUB. I COULD NOT BELIEVE AT HOW LARGE THE PORTION SIZES WERE; I WAS ANGERED. WITH THE LARGE PORTIONS BEING THROWN AT YOU ALL OVER THE PLACE, IT IS NO WONDER THAT SO MANY AMERICANS BATTLE OBESITY. AMERICA NEEDS TO STOP WITH THIS EXCESS GLUTTONY. BIG UPS TO OPRAH FOR TELLING HER STORY.

Not only has she been trying to eat herself to death, but she cries all the time like a severely depressed suicidal person every since she was fool enough to get involved with american hating africans with that school. the only way you can get rid of destructive forces in your life is to cut off all ties, but she has too much pride to admit that the school was a mistake, and she’ll die with her foolish pride in tact. they’ll ride and sue her to the grave to thank her for falling for the con. the children are well trained in sob stories, and tactics to keep her under the gun.
she has always been careful to be politically correct. bush let it be known that abandoning black americans in favor of helping africans was the way to go in his administration, and she couldn’t wait to fall in line. being a traitor to her american people is going to cost her, her life, and quite likely her fortune, because now they have the right to sue her forever in african courts.
worse part about the whole thing is that she is still fool enough to believe that foreign blacks like her inspite of the fact that they talk down about her people, and encourage her to do the same on her show, and she does it. once her money is gone they’ll shun her just like they do other american blacks who have no money for them.
it seems with all of her resources she would know the history of these people and their relations to black america. Oh forgot, she thinks she’s better than other americans. She’s fool enough to believe that black americans have a right to be despised inspite of all the shameful things that africans do that are 10 times worse than even a black american in the ghetto would do.

black american men are literarally starving and dieing on the streets outside of her residence in chicago, and she has no pity for her own people. she’s getting what she deserves.
$40 million could provide homes for all the homeless in chicago who have been dispaced because the govt tore down their project homes.

I think Oprah is being too hard on herself. She is not twenty years old anymore. I’m with her, why is she STILL talking about her weight? She’s doing this to impress her white audience. I’m not sure how old she is, but I’m sure she’s in her fifties. So what she’s put on a few pounds. Nothing to be “embarrassed” about. Honestly, no one really cares. She’s not some twenty-two year old pop star. If she wants to eat healthier, eat healthier, but I think it’s unreasonable for her to be on some strict diet at her age. Damn, enjoy life.

If Oprah wants to be completely candid and truthful about her revelation that she’s gained weight (again), the O Mag cover image should be truthful in what it shows as well. There is no way in hell that in 2005, “40 lbs lighter” she had abs that looked like that! 6-pack abs? Come on! I understand that many celebrit photos are surely retouched from the original image, but the purpose of that is to improve the look, not alter it to the point that it’s completely unbelievable. Ditto for Jennifer Hudson’s album cover. Everyone knows what really looks like, what’s the point?
