I am very interested to see what Team Obama has in store for the economy. It is critical that we allow Barack the opportunity to establish himself in office before we expect to see the change he will bring us. Things will change for the better, however it will take an extra amount of hard work to fix the mess we are in right now. We must be patient in what we expect Obama has a very difficult task ahead of him, but he is presidential and that is what great leaders do take on tough challenges. We will succeed.

America’s vision of capitalism will have to change forever. Years of unregulated markets and chronic neglect created the situation the economy is in now. IMO heads of these large banks, corporations, etc should be punished heavily to act as a deterrent for anyone in the future.

I know the right-wing conservatives accuse Obama of being too protectionist or wants to turn America “communist” ( ) but it was their staunch belief in nothing but free market economics which got us into this mess in the first place. Capitalism shot itself in the foot. American people need to learn life long lessons from this recession.

I can’t wait until the inauguration so he can really get his plans into action I’m surious to see as well how he proceeds. Of course it will take years it’s going to take longer then Obama’s four year term also. It took Bush eight yrs to really screw it up.

I think Obama created these “high expectations”, during his campaign. It’s also laughable how he’s backtracking on almost all his promises.

Now I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest Obama supporter, but I do have a question. During Obama’s campaign he had mentioned his plans to pay for healthcare as well as “distributing the wealth,” Obama has stated (during the election) that he would tax the wealthiest Americans..and a few weeks ago he’s reniged on this. So if he isn’t going to enforce higher taxes on the wealthiest Americans, where is he going to get the funds to pay for his proposed plans/stimulus packages etc., where is he goin to get the money from?

Per the NY Times, Obama will not enforce higher taxes on the wealthy–i.e. $250,000+ and that he will just let the Bush tax policy expire in 2011. You can check the NY Times. So my question is still valid, how will Obama pay for healthcare programs, stimulus packages, after school programs etc.,?

Barack Obama himself isn’t going to fix anything. It is going to be a collaborative effort from the American people as a whole. It it our responsibility to repair or own country, Barack Obama will simply be our leader. He has the right ideals, but he’s not going to do it alone. He can’t. So instead of waiting for some Messianic miracle, find what you can do to better your portion of society.

I think that it would be impossible for Obama to provide a detailed strategy for repairing the economy at this time or any time within the near future. Remember, he was only elected a month and a half ago. @Sigh, it probably would take most people longer than a month and a half to figure out how to resolve their own personal household budgeting and debt issues and you’re expecting Obama to give you answers that involve the whole country. This issue didn’t occur overnight and it isn’t going to be fixed overnight and whether we like it or not, it’s probably going to take some type of trial and error since I don’t think anyone’s in the position to give definitive fool-proof strategies for resolving this crisis. Can I reiterate the word “crisis.” Obama has a team of people who will then rely on their outer resources and team of people to come up with a viable solution. For him to say anything rushed or rush into any action would be a disservice to all of us and I think it was rushed decision-making which got us into this war and made a whole lot of people purchase items on credit that they know they couldn’t afford and purchases homes that they knew they wouldn’t be able to afford once that ARM went into affect in 2-5 years.

Lets be honest here. If he were to produce a plan what would change? He already said that he was considering a stimulus package. I really don’t know exactly what you want. Are you expecting some blueprint? While your questions are sound, there’s absolutely nothing than can be said to please anybody. And why should he consider providing this blueprint to the American people? He ran this campaign through “hope and change” and nothing more. He’s going to work the American people with these same words because it worked.

What he’s telling us is what we are going to get. There isn’t much he can do except: bail out the auto industry, save those insurance companies while injecting money to save those bad mortgages and then consider creating jobs. The United States is going to have to take protectionist measures leaving the rest of the world completely in shit! Its really the only way. With that being said, he may even consider producing industries dedicated to green technology. He’s actually considering it:

Pay cuts and spending minimization has no effect on saving money that doesn’t exist. The American dollar is finished because it has been overprinted and has no actual gold backing it. His only option will be to invade Pakistan and continue the war with Afghanistan. This is why the American media is demonizing Pakistan right now. America will OFFICIALLY invade that land eventually, conquer them, and force them to use the American dollar. The Pakistani rupee has been sliding on the world markets recently anyway. Once the U.S. army destroys the infrastructure of the country, the Pakistanis will be easy pickings. That is the so-called “democracy” that they have planned to “free” the Middle East.

For those who are so against Barack and his supporters, you’re just as bad as those you perceive to see him as a savior, though I have yet to see that phrase uttered by anyone on this board but his naysayers. McCain stated that he didn’t think there was any reason for him to delay any of his campaign promises, which looking back we would know would be impossible for him to follow through on. Why is everyone so surprised the way the economy is going? Bible tells u the richest nation on earth shall crumble. I knew it was the end when Bush was nominated a second term and most of the whities that put him there r feeling the consequences now,lol. It’s sad but true, I’m glad the whities r feeling the effect way more than other races, now they know how it feel to be without. How it feels to be judged by what u have or don’t have, where u live or the color of ur skin. They are the ones with all the creditcards any dayum way and those of us of color that have cards don’t get much on them. My friend was telling me how when the white folks come into Home Depot they get approved anywhere from $3000 to $25,000, blacks/hispanics lucky if they get approved for $500.

That’s not encouraging but it is what it is. I am happy that Obama will be our next president but it would be an understatement to say the man has a lot of work to do.

Most of it would be picking up Bush’s slack. Everyone keeps talking about a smooth transition. How can that be when Bush HAS NOT been for the people for the past eight years. Now it is up to Obama to really engage in the American people and give us a since of hope.

Bush should have closed Guatanamo Bay.

Bush should have stopped this frivolous war.

Bush should have been for ALL people and not just the rich.

Obama won this election in a landslide because the people got up off their a$$$$ and went to the poles because they really did want a change in leadership. I’m sorry to burst your bubble but McLame McCain is just another Bush clone. The real funny thing about it is he tried to distance himself from Bush on the campaign trail. WHY? Because Bush is so damn unpopular with the lowest job approval rating of any other president. And look. He still didn’t get nominated.

Anyone with even a slight drop of intelligence knows that Obama will not have some quick fix strategy. He is well aware it takes time and patience to get this country back to where it needs to be and with the support of the American people it will happen.
