I love how engaging the President is with his daughters!!

Man their lives are a-changing. They can’t go to the sandwich shop without getting mobbed by folks. But when you’re in the limelight like that, those are the things you have to deal with. Michelle has been keeping a low profile on this vacay. I have been looking at all their pics and except a few that she shows up in, she has not been out and about with them. I’m sure because her hair is not picture perfect cos I can get like that on vacay when i avoid the cameras.

For those of you making negative comments about the girls hair. It just tells me that that you don’t have little girls. I have a 4 year old …and the only time her hair looks perfect is only within a few hours after I wash and braid it.

“Terrorism” was a campaign/political tactic used to scare the American public and the rest of the world into backing the Bush administration when they wanted to invade Iraq. They used the terms terrorism/terrorist quite frequently to keep you fearful so that you would submit to thier will. Basically your government controls and brainwashes you.

Not all Madrassas’ are radical. Most of them only teach boys and girls about their religion and are there because schools in the country are either lacking or underdeveloped. A lot of individuals are ignorant to the functions of Madrassas’ because of the way the American media portrayed them, they even went so far as to say Barack attended one in Hawaii which is completely false. They new how we percieved Madrassas’ so associating Barack with an already negative school would make him look like the “terrorist” they claimed he was.

Another reason why they are termed “violent” or “radical” is because they are tought to refute and defend their beliefs against the western ideologies of democracy, feminism and capitalism (which is about to go down the drain). If another man’s ideologies were forced down your throat, wouldn’t you want to protect and preserve your culture and beliefs? Just because it’s for America doesn’t mean it’s for the rest of the world.

wonderful pic of obama with his little lady obamas. i have seen many pics of the girls, especially sasha, where their hair was groomed to the eyeballs–particularly during specific occassions when it should have been. but the girls are on vacation and as somebody else said, a little girl’s hair is easily mussed within about three hours or so after doing it. anybody that has a daughter knows this to be true. sasha and malia look like normal little girls at play and there’s nothing wrong with that.

i admit… i wear wigs…. but when it’s off…my hair is natural… i love my nappy roots… proud to sport the nappiness!!! it’s hott…. and it’s me!!! God didn’t make me with straight hair… or long flowy hair…. he made it nice and natural!!! whose to say what’s “good” hair and what’s not?!?!? hair is hair is hair is hair is hair!!!!!! whether it’s nappy…straight…curly…frizzy….. long….short…. etc etc…… it’s hair!!! @ 63–It pains me that as a Black woman and hairstylist (I have a couple in my family), you seem to have no appreciation for the strength and beauty of our natural hair. I’ve never thought that all or any of us NEED to “relax” our hair or cover it up with someone else’s for us to be fly and as fabulous as we inherently are. I’ve been natural all my life, except for color and I only blow it out a few times a year for fun. Sasha’s hair looks like mine when I rock a bun or ponytail and curly hair (loose or tight curls) frizzes. Period. I don’t goop my hair up with gel and wax and whatever–I just let God’s weather do what it wants to my hair and I’m ALWAYS together. When it’s wild and free (think early Kelis), I get props from us and other races as well constantly. We have what some of us thought we might never see…..an African-American President of the US…..and all people are focused on is the natural hair of his daughters. I, for one, hope this encourages the next generation of young black girls/women to be proud of themselves and the looks that God gave them and not feel forced to alter it to conform to any group (Black or Caucasian/mainstream). Coco, thank you for your entry. It is refreshing to have an intelligent conversation about people who will actually affect our lives versus an entertainer. With that being said, I hope we as a people don’t feed into that white folks hype about what is considered beautiful. We don’t know if those girls went swimming, if its humid or what the conditions are. They look adorable. We unfortunately are in an era where black women would prefer to destroy their hair through weaves and relaxers instead of embracing its natural pattern. I don’t understand how in 2008, with all of our edumacation (spelled it that way on purpose), we still feed into the hype about our features somehow being less than whatever the norm is suppose to be.
