Who gives a flying squirrel’s nuts that their hair isn’t up to some of your standards. OUR President (A BLACK MAN) is tooling around town ON VACATION with his daughters. Maybe Michelle was asleep when they left the house. You are so quick to find fault with something, that you totally MISS the beauty. Black women criticize EVERYTHING about what is completely natural about black women, especially hair. There is nothing wrong with LITTLE CHILDREN being LITTLE CHILDREN and having their hair do what it does while they are playing. Why does the hair need to be bone straight or permed? What is wrong with loving your NATURAL hair, God made black people’s hair this way, so learn to love it. I would NOT put a perm on a 7 year old girls’ head, that’s just irresponsible in my opinion. As someone with long, flat ironed but natural hair, any EDUCATED hair stylist knows natural hair is typically HEALTHIER than permed hair, and you hsould not perm a little girls hair.

@tanya why would you hotcomb a child’s hair? is this an african- american thing? my family is caribbean and they would never perm or hotcomb a child’s hair. a child is meant to be a child and there is nothing wrong with our hair. if the child gets older and wants to perm it so that they can try a different look, then whatever. idk if it’s a culture thing but i just don’t agree with that

Personally speaking, I was not defending these girls becuase they are Barack Obama’s daugheters. I’m defending them because they are kids and there is nothing wrong with their hair. Sasha and Malia do not have nappy hair. If you look at the damn pictures you will see Sasha has some strands coming out of her ponytail. That does not mean her hair was not combed that day. It just means she was out in about playing all day and her hair wasn’t as perfect as it was when she first got it done. Malia often wears cornbraids in her hair. I assume Michelle has her hair done this way so she wouldn’t have to worry about the fuss. Sasha is only seven and hair looks a little thinner than Malia’s so mayber her parents didn’t think it was a wise choice for her to have braids.

Who has the time to worry about what their kid’s hair looks like every second of the day especially when you have such an active schedule.

And for the record, Zahara’s hair is not nappy. For you to say that about a child speaks volumes about YOU!

What is all this shit about combing hair or giving it a perm?? There is NO SUCH THING AS “GOOD HAIR” AND “NAPPY HAIR”. It is just a distinction made by uneducated, untravelled fools. You should be happy you’re allowed to be seen in public. Women in countries like Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia have to wear burkhas outdoors. Consider that liberty, yet complain about how somebody’s hair (and child’s at that!) isn’t up to your white, European standards of beauty.
