♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

♫ Jamie Foxx feat. T-Pain - Blame It (full) - listen
Jamie Foxx’s album (which drops next week), has leaked in its entirety and it seems as though fans are digging this new song, “Blame It,” featuring none other than T-Pain. Admittedly, I’m not really impressed. Jamie Foxx sounds amazing without the auto-tune, so I’m a little disappointed that he jumped on that band wagon and dumbed his voice down for this. It’s times on this song when I can’t even tell the different between his voice and T-Pain’s.
♫ Brandy - Drum Life (full) - listen
The final version of Brandy’s “Drum Life” leaked and it sounds absolutely beautiful. I can’t understand why Brandy left all these Timbaland tracks off the album. Although it doesn’t really fit in with the overall theme of Human, the song just feels so good to me. From the vocal arrangement, to the pulse of the song, to the beat, it’s just an amazing record to me. Since it leaked, I haven’t stopped playing it. Great job, Brandy and Tim. I can see why she’d want him to help executive produce the next album.
♫ J. Holiday feat. Rick Ross - Wrong Lover (full) - REMOVED
J. Holiday is working on a new album that’s set to drop at the top of next year. I’m glad, because J. Holiday’s voice is like butter. Even though I wasn’t completely impressed by the bulk of the material on his first album, Back of My ‘Lac, I was able to appreciate J.’s voice. I think it just turns out better if he works with other writers. “Wrong Lover” is a pretty sexy track. I like the production on this song, this is the kind of material that I want to hear from Mr. Holiday on his new album.
♫ One Chance - Watch Me Back (full) - listen
Rumor has it that One Chance is no longer under Usher’s label imprint and the have a release date for next March. I’m excited for them, but they need to hit the studio again because their tracks leak left and right. With all the material they have on the internet, One Chance could have put out two albums by now. Although I think the boys are pretty talented, “Watch Me Back” isn’t some of their best material. But I’m still looking out for these guys, because I think they could make it.

I Love the New Jamie Album!! - It has lots of variety. It’s not like his whole album has the T Pain effect. This is a fun club song. Atleast we know Jamie can sing! So let him have fun with the autotuner.

the brandy song was okay. not the best timbaland track by far but i think his prime was in the late 90s early 2000s anyway, lol and i’m SO not a huge Brandy fan like so many other people-i hope her album does well though…at least she looks really good now…
i’m not even listening to this j. holiday song. he’s whack to me and i haven’t liked any of his songs to date. he just seems like an “artist” that a young person who doesn’t appreciate good music would like. plus he’s so scrawny and T.I. is the only scrawny mofo i gets down with, lol
mwell i like the jamie foxx song, i mean at least it has a good beat. if i come accross it on the radio i might not turn the station too quickly…
i don’t even know who that last group is, lol
hey Brian

I love Drumlife! I already had this song and I’ve played i probably like 100 times. Actually, I thought you already featured this song…but it bares repeating! This is the vibe of music I think of, when I think of Brandy….
Did anyone see her on BET? She killed it! She rocked “Full Moon”!
I really like the Jaime Foxx album. He stepped it up! Every song I’ve heard, I’ve liked! Nice club, get your drink on a happy hour!
2nd Chance… I never listen to their music.. and J Holiday.. I’ll listen to later…

I only listened to the new version of Drum Life; I’ll listen to the other stuff later. I have played the mess outta DL since I got it. I love this version but I liked the male vocals on the first one a lot - anyone know who he is?

@ terrispeaks
The male vocals on the track are from James Fauntleroy, a young dude who’s written stuff for both Chris Brown and Usher’s latest albums - I forget exactly what tracks. I was feeling his vocals on the first version as well - I think I actually prefer it. But Drum Life is an AMAZING song either way, and the album is fantastic as well. I concur with the other commenters that it is MUCH better than Beyonce’s latest effort.

I look 4ward 2 the New Music Review everytime i come here…but why has Brandy been in all of them lately. I have nuthin against brandy or Brian whos obviously a big fan, but she is B.O.R.I.N.G. this time around.
Its bad cuz her last 3 albums were on point but posting her new draggin boring music ugh…somethin i cant put my finger on is sooooo different now and i dont think i like it..someone else could have taken her spot in the new music review. Thats just me. I mean her album is filled with depressing boring elevator music.

‘Drumlife’ is crac! Brandy is the illest - hands down. I wish “Human” was a double disc so ALL the songs she’s done can be included; cuz i love ‘Locket (locked in love)’ , ‘Gonna find my love’ , and this one and i wish they were on the album.
But the record is hot anyway! Can’t wait for the next one

I agree with Brise, Human should have been a double disc album, but if you think about it. Do you really buy double disc albums lol the last one I bought was aaliyah and that was ages ago.
Brandy is still the same brandy, she has never taken her clothes off to sell records, she’s never degraded herself, and I digg that.
J. Holiday I dont know if were listening to the same song but that song is wack lol
And the others i care not to listen

OK….. let me clarify this!!!!! FIRST, the name of the song is NOT watch me back!!! in the song they are saying, WATCH ME BANG! secondly, if you know anything, house music originated from chicago and detroit! ONE CHANCE is from CHICAGO and this is the music the midwest knows! just because you are from down south, and you are unaware of what other people musical preferences are, you dont try to diss them… erbody dont like that paul wall and mike jones, bs, but people respect it! we dont call it bs! RESPECT!!!!! This is an original song that one chance did, to dedicate back to where they come from! Not everyone get in the industry and forget where they came from! this is a banger and guarantee you that if you are from the crib, you would represent like they do, and i respect them for that! These are some talented guys, if you listen to their music, you will see that they are vocally talented, better than every other group here! and im glad that you did get a chance to go back and listen to their music!!!! like i said, dont judge because you dont like one thing, im most POSITIVE if you listened to their songs, you would love them just as everyone else does!!!!!!

You are tripping J. Holiday’s last album was great, alot better than most r&b albums that dropped, earlier this year, he’s got alot of the vets beat. almost every track on that cd was good, one of those that u could listen to front to back. It’s didn’t nominated for grammy for nothin’!!

Thanks for giving me the name. Mr. James Fantleroy got it goin on. His voice is hypnotic on the first one. I will keep the final version cuz it is an interesting take on the song and I LOVE me some Brandy, but version one will stay in heavy rotation.
…BTW, anyone notice how Brandy’s fans are protective of her in a different way than that fans of other artists - she like our little sister and you better not mess with her lol!!

OMG the final version of Dumlife is sick. I agree with the person who said it’s crack. The original used to stay on repeat on the iPOD. I liked the James Fauntleroy vocals, they added something different to the song. The intro on the final version is however beautiful, her harmonies are angelic. Her voice is like water.
It doesn’t fit in with the flow of the rest of the cd but she could’ve added it as a bonus track. This is a heavy dance track. It sounds very international.
Where is “Porcelain Doll” and “Gonna Find My Love”?

Jamie-T-Pain and the whole auto tune thing has gotten on my nerves, but I can actually tolerate this song. It’s not as bad as I thought it would have been. It looks like Jamie is making trendy music with this album instead of the quality he did with the last album, but I understand heis approach he just want to get decent sales.
J. Holiday- Didn’t get a chance to hear it because the track has been removed, but he bores me anyway.
Brandy-This is song is so hot. It’s got a tropical sound to it. It reminds me of the summer time. This would have been a better uptempo song to lead the album instead of Right Here(Departed), her album is still great to me though, I respect the fact that she stuck to theme of her album. The people complaining about the tracks left off, can easily download the leftovers for free.
One Chance-This group has bored me, but they can sing. It’s good that they left Usher’s label, because he wasn’t helping them at all. I remember hearing about them a couple of years ago and now it’s almost ‘09 and they still have no album. This song isn’t bad, I could see people dancing and making a routine off of this. It’s an okay upbeat song. I’m not sure if they could blow up like Brian said, but R&B groups are dead right now so the door is wide open. Anything is possible.

One Chance–This song sounds like a play off of “Let Me Bang”, the ghetto house/juke track. This type of music is popular in Detroit and in Chicago where they’re from…not my fav from them but glad to hear they’re finally coming out with an album!
Am I the only one not moved by the Brandy track? It’s ok, but to me not as amaaaaaazing as everyone else thinks.
I wanted to hear the J. Holiday track but it’s been removed!
Jamie Foxx’s track is alright but I too wish people would get off this auto tune/vocoder bandwagon. Auto Tune is DEAD!
